Others say...
"Great pan!" I bought this pan to replace an 8 year old version of the same thing. This one was even better! I liked the soft touch handle, the non stick surface is great. Wipes out with a paper towel. Still good for basic pan sauces though. "A good buy" I purchased this after reading an article in Cook's Illustrated, which gave it a "Recommended" rating. Although it is very heavy for me - to slide food out I have to brace my elbows against my torso and use two hands - it is very roomy, heats evenly, doesn't stick yet, and still looks very nice after six months of use. The "soft-touch" handle seemed gimmicky to me at first, but it turned out to be comfortable and convenient (I'm one of those people who has to drape a towel over a hot handle so I don't forget it's hot). This pan was an upgrade from the flaking non-stick pans of my husband's collegiate years, and it was a good buy. UPDATE 1.13.08: I've now owned this pan over a year, and it is holding up well. I use it almost every day, and have had only one minor problem - eggs create a film on the pan that is difficult to remove. Otherwise, it's still heating evenly, non-stick properties (except for the eggs as noted) are still functioning, and it even looks great! Of course, we don't have a dishwasher, so the hand-washing may have something to do with that. "Non-stick is inconsistant in quality" I bought this pan almost a year ago. When it was new, it worked great. Attractive design, nice balance (though a bit heavy, which is a GOOD sign for even heating in my book), comfortable handle, and the non-stick coating worked great. I liked it so much, I bought the 8 inch as well. Fast foward to yesterday when I returned it. The reason was the non-stick and evolved into MUST-stick. Everything sticks to the point that you have to use a pretty decent scrubby sponge to get it clean again, and that's after soaking it for an hour or so in hot, soapy water. I have since started to use an old T-Fal pan I bought at Costco 15 years ago and was subjected to the same level of use and abuse (if not more) and still is NON-stick. To be fair, the rest of the pan was holding up well. The 8 incher I bought a couple months later is still working well, non-stick not sticking. Farberware needs to work on their quality consistancy. After reading other reviews here, I seem to have company in my experience. "great purchase" I have this pan for over a year and it is great. Easy use, easy cleanup. no complaints "Best skillet I have ever used!!" This skillet is excellent. When they say nonstick they really mean nonstick. It is a little heavy but its well worth it. I love this skillet so much. I have bought several skillets and they were all crap. I highly recommend that you purchase this.

Special offer for you..find the cheapest! What our customer's say! "Non-stick coating doesn't stay non-stick", Like others, I bought this pan based on early good reviews. The pan is big and heavy and heats very evenly. The rubber insert on the handle is nice, making it possible to pick up the hot pan without a pot holder. The critical problem is in the failure of the non-stick coating to keep its properties. When I first bought the pan, it worked beautifully. However, after just six months, the coating was not performing as well as before. After a year, the pan is just like any other skillet, requiring a good coating of oil to prevent foods from sticking. The pan received only the recommended handling. No spray-on oils were used. The pan was always washed by hand, with only a sponge. Needless to say I'm disappointed that my "non-stick" pan is nothing but a dark-colored skillet. I'd look for another brand based on this experience. "A MUST BUY", There are lots of nonstick skillets out there that go on an on about how great they are...etc, but you then find that they scratch easily...right? Well not with this one...this skillet is fantastic and IS nonstick. It cooks food beautifully and is a breeze to wash. It's a bit more expensive than your 'wal-mart' variety, but it's so worth the money. The nonstick finish is hard wearing and very durable. I've had this skillet for a few years and it's in the same condition as when I bought it. The matching lid is great and a perfect duo for any kitchen. "it's a STICK pan", I agree with a review by "Keith Bell" and a few others. I bought the pan two years ago, and don't have to wait that long before the pan started to lost its non-stick quality. I can't even cook an egg in it anymore. It stuck to the pan and looks like the surface of the moon. Even fish (with skin) stuck to the pan as well. "A Great Non-Stick Pan", We were led to this pan by Cook's Illustrated magazine, which reviewed them all (including All-Clad). This pan is a great, heavy weight. Perfect for even heat distribution and the surface is truly non-stick and durable. We use it every day. You may also want to order a glass lid for this pan "I love this pan!", I bought this to replace an older large pan and I just love this one! It is big enough to cook lots of combination dishes I make and evenly heats well! Definately a good buy. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Don't Buy This", I bought this pan based on a recommendation from Cook's Illustrated. I was impressed by the weight and the feel of the pan when I took it out of the box. Then, I used it. As soon as heat hit the pan, stuff began oozing out of the join between the bottom and top of the pan. The stuff smoked and caught on fire. I called Farberware to report the problem and spoke to someone who assured me a return call within 24 hours. That was a week ago with no return call. Buyer beware! "Great item!!!", I bought the 12-Inch and 8-inch at the recommendation of Everyday Food Magazine.. google it and found them on Amazon. Thanks Amazon. Love these two skillets...... "extremely pleased ", Read a recent review in Cooks Illustrated that chose this pan as the best product amongst other brands (some quite expensive). I am an avid cook, so performance is very important to me and this one delivers. For the price, this pan is a steal. "Great Product - Just Love It", Pros: Truly a nonstick skillet. Heavy duty keeps from getting knocked around and sits securely on the stovetop. Very comfortable handle Exterior mirror finish is still as shiny as the day I bought it...almost 1-year ago. Cons: I knocked off 1-start due to the rounded design of the lip, non of my standard lids will fit properly. This is a fantastic product, well worth the higher price. "Disappointed", After cooking eggs this morning and having a layer of egg stuck to the whole pan, I'm sad to say that my non-stick pan sticks. We've had this pan for maybe 8 months and I just assumed that pans lasted for several years. We even bought this pan plus the 8" for my mother-in-law for Christmas. What a disappointment. Better begin research on a new pan...and I'll make sure to read the reviews. ![]() |
