"it leaks!" I purchased this cooker because of its cheap price and it is made of stainless steel. I tried it right after I bought it and it turns out to leak vapour. So I returned it to amazon. "Things you need to know" This is a simply great kitchen utensil: It's made from stainless steel which is easy to keep clean and which has none of the corrosion problems that plague aluminum. The price is right. You can pay a lot for a fancy Swiss model-four times as much in fact and in this case, you don't get what you pay for. It will add a dimension to your cooking. Dishes that used to take all day can be cooked in an hour or two and homemade stocks and soups will return to your table. All of the safety problems that used to come with pressure cookers have been solved and there's no reason to deny you and your family all that good food. He and his wife are happy with it. "Pressure Cooker Takes the Pressure Off" I have never owned a pressure cooker before, but this one made a good first impression. Dishes that normally take hours are done in minutes, and all the food's flavor and nutrition is preserved. This unit is very sturdy and well-made. I like having a second lid so I can use it as a regular sauce pan as well as a pressure cooker. It is quickly becoming one of the most frequently-used pans in my kitchen.

What our customer's say! "Chef's Design 9-Quart Stainless-Steel Pressure Cooker ", The product is terrific- generally it is well made and works well. The only two things I see as being problematic are 1] There is a cheap plastic catch under the lid that will likely eventually break. Hopefully not...... and 2] The arrow to put the lid on and remove it is not vey well marked so it is a slight nuisance to work with (and especially if the pot is extremely hot). Otherwise, I really like my purchase and use it several times a week. "Excellent", The pressure cooker works great, it even has two different valves dependenig on the pressure you want to cook on, and a security lock. "A good buy!", I love this cooker, it's big and sturdy and is of stainless steel. But it took me a little while get it to work properly. Initially I loaded it to almost the top and noticed steam leaking out. I then rearranged to fit about 3/4th the size of the cooker and the food was cooked very fast! I have used it several times since and have consistently gotten great results. It's quick and pressure cooking retains a lot of the nutrition. Although 9Qt maybe a little big for daily use, I still find it really useful especially if you find vessels that fit in it and can be stacked (3/4 of the cooker, DON'T FILL IT TO THE TOP!)and can cook multiple items at once! I plan to getting the smaller sizes for daily use! Cooks rice and steams veggies in as few as 15 minutes! I paid $37 for it and for that price, it's a great deal! "Great Pressure Cooker", I have been using pressure cookers for over 35 years. The pressure cookers I have used were hand-me-downs from my parents & I never purchased my own,until now. I have needed a larger pressure cooker & did alot of looking & comparing before deciding on Chef's Design 8-1/2L SS dual function. This is a quality cooker & definitely an invaluable piece of cookware for any kitchen. Excellent design & easy to use. I hope will last me the rest of my cooking years. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "Great Pressure Cooker", I had been using a pressure cooker I inherited from my mother which she bought in 1949, that is until it blew the greasy water & fat combo from corned beef all over the ceiling, cupboards, counter & stove. I shopped around on line and liked the Chef's Design 9 qt the best. Wow....what a difference 50+ years make in pressure cooker design. I would only use the old one to cook corned beef for St. Pat's for my wife's family. They won't eat anyone else's corned beef because it's just not the same fall apart beef that I make. But the Chef's Design is so easy to use that I've cooked dinner in it the past 4 weekends, which my wife loves because she doesn't have to cook. Get another cook book besides the small one that comes with it. The 1st corned beef I cooked wasn't very tender because the original cook book didn't tell me to leave the pressure at high, I turned it down too low with only a little steam coming out (probably afraid I'd be decorating the ceiling again). And the yellow sticker, use a hair dryer to soften the glue.....comes off pretty easily. My wife wants to know what I'm cooking this weekend. "I would change this to 4 stars if I could", This items has some strong points; it is 18/10 Stainless Steel with thick alum sandwiched in base, is was $45 with free shipping when I bought it, and it came with a glass lid so you can use it as a stainless steel stock pot or store food in fridge. However there is a weak point. This pressure cooker is limited to 11.6 PSI. It is undesirable not to hit the standard 15 PSI, cooking temp will be nearly 10 degrees less, and cooking times 2 to 3 minutes more. It this item's defense, I have not seen evidence that other brands in this price range reach 15 PSI either, which leads me to suspect they don't as this is something to brag about. I purchased two spare gaskets from an on line source that I found, a little over $20 with shipping. Five years from now, I don't know if they will be that easy to find, and these do wear out. The item came well packaged, and in perfect condition. Everything about this item is super, except that it would be much better for it to reach 15psi. Do a search on 'Miss Vickie' to learn more about pressure cookers. "You could pay $180 for a cooker but...", Why? This is a great all around pot with heavy construction, nice sandwiched bottom, and a good secure feel to the top. I used to stay out of the kitchen when my old pressure cooker was whistling away, but not anymore. I highly recommend the book Pressure Perfect to go with this pot. "Stainless stell dual function pressure cooker", I am very impressed with the versatility of this pressure cooker. Having two lids, it can be used more often than a pressure cooker. I think this pressure cooker will last at least as long as my other one -- 29 years! "Get this one...", My new pressure cooker arrived yesterday. I used it last night to make a delicious soup. It's a perfect size for a family with children or anyone for that matter. The ease of use amazed me. I would suggest getting Great Vegetarian Cooking Under Pressure or Cooking Under Pressure by Lorna Saas to help get the most out of it. It's a way to prepare healthy foods in a short amount of time. Since it comes with a glass lid also, it can be used like a regular stock pot. If you need a pressure cooker, I feel this is the best deal out there right now. I spent hours on the internet looking and this was my choice! If you take the time to really learn how to use a pressure cooker then the pressure will be off when it comes to the question..What's for dinner? Have fun! |
