Others say...

"If the lid fits, let the pan wear it."
I'm glad I bought it, because now when I need need a lid for my Lodge 12" cast iron skillet, I've got one. the first one amazon sent me, however, had all kinds of scratches into the metal of the handle. But I just sent it back, and they sent me a new one. The second also had a couple surface scratches, but not enough to make me want to return it again.

"Excellent cover and does what it is supposed to do"
When I bought this cover to go with the Lodge Logic iron skillet I purchased, I wondered whether I should have bought a glass one instead. I justified buying this because it can go in the oven and they advertised that the moisture is redistributed due to its design. That is absolutely correct.

The dripping feature in this cover makes it ideal for cooking things that you will not need to constantly check in order to ensure moisture. It is a solid, well fitting cover that keeps your food in good condition. An added pro is that you can use it on a dutch oven when necessary, making the price easier to stomach.

"Gorgeous piece of cast iron!"
This is a very well made and quite beautiful (to a cast iron lover!) lid, and a perfect fit to its matching skillet. I love using the pan by itself, and with the lid it works wonders for slow cooking with the self basting underside. This lid actually seals better than any of my Calphalon Professional Stainless cookware! I've always kind of considered Lodge inferior to Wagner in quality, but this is an excellent buy and the quality is fine, with a very nicely finished appearance. I don't think anything is as well finished as the 70+ year old pieces, but I also don't think anyone who likes to cook with cast iron will be disappointed in this lid as an accessory to its companion skillet, they are a great combination!

"Multiplied the value of my skillet"
The title says it all. I've had my 12 inch skillet for a year or so and I've enjoyed it but it was limited by lack of a lid. When I received this cover I started to realize how much more I can do with the skillet. It can be placed in a vented or non-vented position on the skillet, it keeps the moisture in the food, and the pre-seasoning is first class, almost as black as my self-seasoned skillet. If you have the pan, you're missing out if you don't have the cover.

"Super product"
Love the skillet, love the lid. The spikes on the inside do an excellent job of making the food extra moist. I thought it was just hype but they really do work wonders. If you're getting the skillet, be sure to get the lid.

What our customer's say!

"Lid is more expensive then the frying pan", First of all let me say that I only use cast iron and stainless steel cookware. I don't use aluminum (brain damage) or non-stick (carcinogenic) cookware ever. Cast iron cookware takes years to season because it has to smooth out from use and the deposit of microscopic carbon molecules. Because of that pre-seasoning is kind of useless. I think every cook should have 3 pieces of cast iron: A grill pan, a dutch oven and a frying pan. If you can't cook it in one of those, it probably can't be cooked.

As far as the lid goes; it fits tightly on the Lodge Logic 12" frying pan. I wouldn't say it's an essential item (especially if you have a dutch oven) but it's nice to have. I think the price is too high considering that the frying pan (with more metal) is about 1/3 less expensive. This lid was $10 in 2007.

"Get your cover and a Dutch Oven on the cheap", I looked at it like this:
The 7 Qt. Dutch Oven cover fits the 12" skillet.
The 12" cover is $20.01
The 7 Qt. Dutch Oven w/Spiral Handle is $38.98
If I subtract what I'd spend for the 12" cover the D.O. only costs $18.97 more. That's a huge hunk of iron for a mere $18.97.
I did the same thing by buying the 5 Qt. D.O. because the cover fits my
10 1/4" skillet.
Also, I found a brush that works very well to clean the pans and lids Power Tip Dish & Glass Brush

"Packing", Worst packing I've ever seen from Amazon!!! It's amazing the Lodge cast iron lids (10 and 12 inch) survived unbroken. I did have to "re-season" the lids to cover the scratches from all the banging around they did in shipping!! I was lucky... If you need lids, I would find another source to eliminate the potential headache of returning due to damage. Thanks Amazon. I've read other reviews concerning shipping on this product and thought it must be a fluke or just another pinhead review... not so!

"It's a good deal", The Logic 12-inch pan seems to be a good deal to me because it is healthier to use than the no-stick pans. I grew up with my parents using that kind of pan, and so I was used to seeing it in use. I thought I was progressive using the modern cookware, but now that I've gone back to iron pans, I feel that I'm now doing something even more progressive. It cooks hotter than my other pans, but I like the honest crispiness it gives to food. I'm looking forward to using it in the future, and am sure it will last my lifetime since I'm now 66. I recommend it!

"Perfect fit for the Lodge 12" Skillet", Well, it's very sturdy and well made. The only kvetch, and it really is minor, is the huge logo on the cover. Did they have to? Otherwise, very pleased.

"Love It", The cool thing about this lid is that it is interchangeable between my 12 inch skillet and my chicken fryer.

"Using Lodge Logic Iron Cover", Makes an already great product, Lodge Logic 12" cast iron skillet, even better!!

"What can go wrong with a cast iron lid", I purchased the Emirilware 12 inch cast iron skillet, and we love it! If you don't have one and enjoy cooking, do yourself a favor and get one. Bacon, pancakes, etc cook perfectly and evenly. However, there is no lid available for this skillet from Emirilware. As long you don't care about matching your garanimals, this Lodge Logic lid works with the Emiril skillet.

It's also large and heavy enough to be used as a shield, in case that's your deciding factor. The spikes on the inside-top of the lid make it a little tricky to clean, but I use warmish-hot (luke-hot?) water and a plastic bristle scrub brush. Dry it with a cloth (it shreds paper towels).

"logic iron cover", First lid we got was damaged, second lid w got was damage, however not that noticalbe so we kept it. It doesn't come packaged very well. Returing it was very easy. Works great with the pan.

"Lodge Logic lid", Works great. Make sure you get the correct one, model 10 is actually 12 inches. The model number is on the bottom of your cookware.
