"Love Lodge Logic!"
This pot is no exception! I did some barbecued chicken in the 5 qt one that I bought at the same time as this one and some baked beans in the 2 quart one...lovely and cleanup was a breeze! Cast iron is the way to go!

"Cast iron-y goodness"
Perfect size for soup/stew for one/two. Will get plenty of use out of it.

"Great Little Black Kettle"
Perfect for roasting meals for 2 - 3! Excellent heat distribution for tougher cuts. Fork tender lamb shoulders and roasts with vegetables swimming in a savory sauce in a little under an hour.

"LOVE it!"
I have quite a collection of "inherited" cast iron and always enjoy using it. This little pot is great because it is just right for frying up a few french fries or chicken tenders for the kids, or can be pulled into service making a side dish for about 8 people. I used it for baked beans as soon as I opened it and they were GREAT! I have had it about 2 weeks and have used it almost every day! Last night, we roasted sweet potatoes in it and they were marvelous!

"Nothing Beats Cast Iron Cooking"
I'm a mountian girl from the Blue Ridge Mountains in SW VA. I remember Granny use to cook the very best food I've ever eaten. Granny use to tell me it was the iron pan that made it taste so good. After Granny passed on, I got a cast iron fryer. But I had no idea how to care for it, barely used it and finally threw it away.

Lately I've been reading about the possible problems with teflon, and in the process I came across information on Lodge Logic Pre Seasoned Iron Pots. I remembered Granny's cooking, so I purchased 3 different size fryers. The first thing I cooked was bacon and eggs. Oh my, that was the best bacon and eggs I've eaten, since Granny cooked them for me. Well, I writing to tell everyone, Granny was right. It is the iron pans that makes the difference. Now, I have a big collection of every piece I could ever possible need, from fryers to dutch ovens to griddles, to muffin pans, etc. I've also noticed that Paula Dean uses a lot of Lodge cookware too.

Yes, they are a little more trouble, and yes they are heavy, expect that, after all they are cast iron. And I've had to lower the heat just a little and move the food around just a bit, in the pan while the food is cooking. But, the taste of the food makes it a pleasure to take care of them; and [...] will tell you exactly how to do it. As for the weight you don't have to do much lifting; from cabinet to stove, to sink, back to cabinet. If you don't have a medical problem, then you should be able to do this without problem. If you can't, then you need the exercise, so get them and use them. And, this recommendation goes for the whole line of Lodge pre seasoned iron cookware. Here's wishing you all, Happy feasting!

What our customer's say!

"A single person's dutch oven.", I love it. I don't know why it's a "serving pot" and not a dutch oven, but it functions just fine as one. Being a single person trying to stick to reasonable serving sizes, I find this pot to be ( as Goldilocks said) Just Right. The lid fits the Lodge 8" skillet too, and I like things that coordinate with each other. It has the self-basting points on the lid, clever and functional!

"Lodge it top Notch", Love it and it will love you back.
Cant beat a good seasoned piece of Cast Iron.
Its pre seasoned but that only a start. Years of use will give you a slick as glass practically non stick surface.
I have several pieces of cast iron and use them frequently and they are seasoned very well and I love to cook on them.
And forget about what you have heard, yes use dishwashing liquid when you need to. Just dont let it stay on there. Clean it and get it off your Iron and dry it well and wipe with a little shortning.(Old fashoned soaps had LYE and that will strip your seasoning, but modern detergent in small amounts quickly used will do no harm)
Heat the skillet till smoking and turn it off and let it stay on the burner till cool.
Wipe out any excess and your good to go and on the way to a favorite treasured item.

"My favorite Lodge pot!", This is my 'rice-cooking' pot. I make brown rice a lot, just for me, and it is perfect for cooking one to two cups of rice. The lid fits snugly so, after I have put the rice into the boiling water and stirred it, I can put the lid on, turn on my timer, and not touch it again until it is finished cooking. It comes out perfectly every time.

I, of course, appreciate the Lodge quality and the fact that it is still made in the USA. All my regular cast iron is Lodge.

This is just a wonderful size. I don't even put mine away anymore. I keep it out and, when not in use, I will put bananas, or other non-refrigerated produce or garlic, in it for cool storage.

"fantastic 2 qt cast iron pot", I REALLY love this pot. This is a perfect pot for:
Korean soft tofu soup (for 1 or 2);
Korean bibimbap for 1;
Chinese hot pots (for 1 or 2);
Japanese oden stew (for 1 or 2);
any of the Chinese claypot stews (for 1 or 2);
very very handy for how I cook.

The cast iron is able to cook at a low steady temperature, and imparts a really nice flavor to the food that I couldn't get from plain stainless steel cookware or anodized cookware.

I really love mine. I am now looking to buy the 5 qt. dutch oven, so I can make my famous Chinese chicken soup!

"a very versatile, very useful little kettle", I've got several cast iron pots, pans, skillets, kettles and implements. Of them all, I find this little 2 qt mini Dutch oven to be particularly useful. Admittedly, if forced to choose, I'd go with the more versatile 5 qt. Dutch oven. But, this little 2 qt. "bean pot" has a lot of uses beyond just beans and such. It's a fantastic casserole, entree reheat and general cooking vessel for 2-3. For all of us that routinely cook for less than a mob, this is practically required gear, as it excels at small, sensible volume cooking of soups, stews, chilis and reheats: not to mention my favorite veggie dishes of everything from braised asparagus to zucchini. I would HIGHLY recommend this product as a second tier purchase if you've already got such other items covered as a decent 10-12" skillet and a decent larger stock pot/dutch oven. Heck, for that matter, this 2 qt jobbie may be all that you need until you need to serve a family. Let your situation be your guide. Either way, this is a most competent product for the niche it fills. You decide if it fills a niche you require.

"Great Pan - Makes wonderful soup", This is my second piece of Lodge Logic cookware. I love these pans. Easy clean up, and easy to prepare great food in them. The pans also seem to be top quality, though only time will tell how long they last, but I anticipate having them for many, many years.

"My wife likes it.", It cooks rice very well but a bit of work to take care of it.

"Nice little pot !!!", Preparing food for 2 or 3 has never been easier with this little pot from pot roast, chili, stew, etc. I'd suggest to get the 5 quart one for bigger family.

"Good for a family of 2 to 4.", A nice pot to cook soup or something liquid for a family of 4. I like it.

"I'm convinced", After reading the positive Amazon reviews, I took the customers' advice and ordered 2 of these little pots. I usually cook for one or two and these are an ideal size. I probably want/need two more as with their included lids, they are perfect for small meals in an oven. Follow the crowd and get at least two of these jewels.
