"Highly reliable and powerful"
This hand blender is great...my previous one just sat in the cabinet all the time because it wasn't at all efficient. This one is worth the price for the power it provides; it purees soup like a dream. The sealable blending container it comes with is very handy as well.

"I LOVED this thing UNTIL......"
So much easier than off-loading hot soup into a food processor or a blender. Very simple to use, makes pots of carrot soup, potato soup, zucchini soup (you get the idea) faster and with less mess than I had thought possible. HOWEVER, IT BECAME UNUSEABLE AFTER ABOUT 7 USES. THE PLASTIC DISK BEHIND THE BLADE CAME LOOSE. IT SLIDES DOWN THE STEM AND GETS IN THE WAY OF THE BLADE, BECOMING A LITTLE MORE TATTERED WITH EACH USE. I just hope that I have made at least $50.00 worth of wonderful soup and that my family hasn't gotten a wierd disease from ingesting small chunks of grey plastic. I am editing my previous review but Amazon won't let me change the number of stars from 5 to 2.

"Why You Should Buy This Blender"
I'm sure traditional blenders have their place in a true chef's kitchen, but for this lazy bachelor, my trusty, but clunky Cuisinart has been gathering dust ever since I purchased the sleek and slender KitchenAid handheld immersion blender.

I love to make soups, purees and healthy yogurt fruit smoothies for my morning breakfast. However, the idea of breaking out my blender only to create a single serving didn't make the clean up worth the hassle. I don't have a dishwasher, so to clean the blade attachment, set aside the rubber ring, wipe down the motor, and clean the blending carafe and lid always seemed like a pain in the proverbial glutes.

As specs go, the blender is 17 inches high, weighs about 3 pounds, and I admit a little bulkier and larger than the Cuisinart stick that my sister owns. Still, it's not unwieldy and with the blending attachment sporting an immersion depth of 8 inches, the ingredients rarely come in contact with the motor body. When I cook a thick vat of Moroccan Spiced Chick Pea soup, the immersion blender works perfectly to chop and incorporate some of the chick peas into a creamier consistency. Held at a slight angle and with a rhythmic up and down motion, it handles easily and with none of the production that comes with a traditional blender. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate the convenience of blending soup - or any other food for that matter - as it cooks in the pot. It's like discovering sliced bread, or the EZ Pass.

The splashguard that sheaths the twin blades keeps from scratching the bottom of pots and as long as it's submerged in the mixture, there's very little to no splashing. Splashing only really occurs when you keep the blending attachment powered as you lift it out of the mixture. You should always release the one-touch power button before you lift it out of anything. The splashguard also features air slots for quicker, homogeneous blending, and a speed control dial located at the top offers blending speeds ranging from 1 (low) to 9 (high).

The stainless steel attachment comes on and off with a quick, easy snap of two ejector buttons located on either side of the motor body. This speaks to the easy cleaning and storage that I mentioned earlier. Everything just needs a wipe down with a damp cloth, some time to fully dry and it's ready to be stored away.

Though the motor is quiet and powerful as the specs boast, I'm a little leery about crushing ice with it. The instruction and recipe booklet that comes along with the blender provides some common sense care, operation and instruction tips. One recommendation was to cut solid foods into smaller pieces before blending. This would lead me to believe that blending ice would probably not be a good idea. However, the second half of the manual is dedicated to various recipes, one of which is for a Mocha Frappe. The ingredients call for ice which the instructions recommend to chop at a 9 speed. I'm not confident with these contradictory instructions, so I've erred on the side of caution and chosen not to blend anything with ice.

The KitchenAid Immersion Blender comes with a full one year warranty from date of purchase. The KHB200 and 300 models offer whisk attachments and a chopper adaptor. Along with the beaker, the 100 model comes just with the twin steel blade attachment; it's proven to be quite versatile and all you really need, unless you want to get fancier. I've had this product for close to a year and my experience so far has been an overwhelmingly positive one. I've made everything from tomato purees, yogurt smoothies, whipped cream, gravies and salad dressings, to blending soups as they simmer in the pot. It's a solid, streamlined and facile appliance that does a fine job for its price point.

"This is a Man's Mixer"
I use at work every day, a Braun mixer. I like that one and it works for me. I needed another at home and chose the KitchenAid, based on its reviews. This is a serious GUY TOOL. It blends my mixes lickety split, small ice cubes and all; and the stem is easier to lick :-) Much more power than the Braun. One very minor downside, the stem disconnect (push two buttons) not as convenient as the Braun (twist stem). Overall, this product rocks!

"If you can buy the full package"
If I could have afforded it I wish I could have purcahsed the full package but this item is exceptional. I purcased it after seeing it reviewed on a PBS cooking show where it received the best rating. There is a knob at the top to set the speed which is not apperent in the photos. I have used it to make sunflower seed butter, strawberries for ice cream and peach jam. I cannot speak to longevity but so far this is a great item. I just wish I had gotten the wisk/chopper package.

What our customer's say!

"highly recommend this product", KitchenAid KHB100ER Hand Blender, Empire Red
excellent product. heavier weight than most and very powerful. easy "on" button and good grip. eject buttons are simple and the unit is easy to clean. highly recommend it and the price is right.

"Good product, good price!", This immersion blender is excellent. I read many reviews on different products and took the best features from each review and found this KitchenAid blender that satisfied all the requirements. One reviewer mentioned a metal shaft as opposed to a plastic shaft, another mentioned watts, another mentioned variable speeds. All of these features are found on this model, it is a very solid appliance. I did not need the add ons and saved lots of money that way. I did not want to pay $99 for a bells and whistle blender, just a reliable blender was enough and the price was perfect. Definitely worth it! And the red color was an added bonus for me.

"Great hand blender for softer foods", The 2 piece design is great but as I experienced with this hand blender.... I have only used it 5 times and the plastic ribbed socket that drives the metal shaft for the blade has been rounded off b/c its so soft. So What this means is that the design is partially great, stong motor, strong blade but the weakest point is the plastic that drives everything. If you are making soup or something soft then it will never be a issue, if you intend to hit bits and pieces of frozen fruit then you will run into probelms. Again I love the handblender but I am very very disappointed that they would use plastic to drive a metal shaft.

"does the job!", I've used this a couple times to make hummus. Of course, I don't need hummus to be smooth, so I don't know how it works in that manner, but it was easy to use, easy to clean and stores well. My finger got a little tired from holding the button, but there's other kitchen products that require more effort.

"Works as expected.", I have used this hand blender a few times to make soups. Works like a charm. I am very pleased with its performance and it makes preparing homemade soups very simple.

"Finally, a hand blender that doesn't suck.", I am a Kitchenaid fan from now on. This blender is killer. Much better than the other two I tried. Even chops ice well. And best of all, it doesn't break or spew rotten drink out later from the inside. I think I've had it 3 or 4 years now. Excellent purchase. Now, would the Ultimate Chopper fill a niche for me...?

"Perfect Immersion Blender", This product does everything that it promises and works wonderfully. The best part of it is that the entire blending shaft is removable and can go into the dishwasher, this was one of its biggest selling points for me.

"Easy to use", This blender works great for making breakfast energy drinks. I use yogurt, flax oil, nearly any kind of fruit, nuts, etc. It is soooo easy to clean; just rinse under the spigot.

"KitchenAid hand blender", Love this blender. It works much better than the last one I had which bit the dust crushing graham crackers! All the spare doo dads that come with the more expensive option are totally unnecessary in a well equipped kitchen.

"Immersion blender", Absolutely fantastic! Does excellent job in blending fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Variable speed is invaluable. Very satisfied, fast delivery. Good buy.
