"Easy to use shaver" This ice shaver is easy to use and creates shavings very close to the texture of snow. Do not use regular ice cubes because they slip and do not shave properly. The ice formed in the included containers works wonderfully because it stays in place and shaves very quickly. This product can easily be used by a child over the age of 6 with the supervision of an adult. "A good product." I bought this for my two children to enjoy when they are being good. It works well enough but if you fill the bin with too much ice it will not spin. I noticed some people here saying it was a dud when they got it but I bet you they didn't bother to check that. There is a switch underneath the motorized unit and if the activator on the bottom half does not activate the switch on the top half it will not work, hmmm, what a concept. It works fine for the cost and it provides pleasure my children will enjoy as long as it lasts. "Great Simple Affordable Ice Shaver " Pros: -Ease of use. Just place the ice and press the top. Tip: Know your strength. Do not press too hard. -It produce very fine ice shavings. -Cleaning is easy. It is just water, so you actually just need to rinse it. I do not know if the blade rust, but make sure it is dry before you put it back to the shelf. Cons: -You can not use the ice cubes from your refrigerator which is the most convenient source. You have to use the supplied ice container, fill it with water and freeze it first. Make sure you do not lose them for they are the perfect ice shape, it even has ridges at the bottom to make the ice clamped to the shaver ice holder. It would be better if they give you 3 or 4 containers instead of two. For a family of five, you need more ice. I tried only a couple other shavers, but I do not know any other that is better for this price. "WORKED JUST FINE" Easy to take apart & put back together. This little gem performed exactly as expected, the price was excellent and best of all it arrived in time for the party. "Excellent product." Love the Snowman Ice Shaver. Easy to work, easy to clean. Makes great snow cones. We keep it healthy with plain ice or frozen fruit juice - even works well with chocolate milk. Our son loves helping me make the snow cone and enjoys every last chilly bite. Great value.

What our customer's say! "Margaritas anyone?", This Ice Shaver is the best thing thats ever happened to us when it comes to making Margaritas. This thing grinds ice for the rim of the cup very easy, the only work you have to do is push down. Now, I used to grind and push down so it was a lot of work but now, pushing down is all. Highly recommended for the price "Just as good as the ones at the fair!", My wife and I just had the shaved ice snow cones at the local fair and wanted a machine to make our own at home. We purchased this unit from amazon and bought quality syrups from hawaiian shaved ice. We are very pleased and quite surprised the cones are just as good as the fair ones. Sure, the ice does shrink some when you add the syrup...but isn't that the best part...like the bottom half of the snow cone at the fair. "Nothing special", It is acceptable - nothing special. Takes about a minute for one serving, but when you add the syrup the volume of the ice decreases by half (unlike shave ice you buy from a vendor). I think I would have preferred a hand crank shave ice machine so I can control the speed. Acceptable for the money - good for kids, not for hosting a party. "Great Ice Shaver!", This little machine kicks out a lot of shaved ice, and does so quickly. It exceeded my expectations. Buy good syrups from the coffee aisle (not the cheap snowcone kid's syrups), and you'll become a snow cone addict like myself using this machine. I was putting this HB Snowman through strenuous use making several treats a day for a couple of months. Thankfully, one night after having salmon for dinner and three huge snow cones, I ended up in the fetal position on my bathroom floor. I'm a recovering addict now, and only have one on the rare occasion since then. Anyway, the only thing I could possible complain about with this Snowman, is that if you fill your ice container too full, you'll have to shift the top of the machine around before it will catch the starting mechanism. Does that make sense? Probably not, but you'll see. Just don't think it's broken when you press down on your thick block of ice and nothing happens. I would recommend this machine to my mother, except that in my case, I would feel like I was offering her a bit of heroin. "Manual machine", The ice shaver is easy to use, but my wife wanted the machine and she finds it too labor intensive. Also, I just received another machine which I did not order and was billed for on my account. I would like to return this machine and receive a credit on my account. Thanks, Chuck 
Read this reviews before You buy... "Good product", This product performed as hoped. I would recommend using the ice molds that come with it -- you get a finer shaved ice than with regular ice cubes. Also, you don't have to buy over-priced syrups for it. Just get some frozen juice concentrate in a flavor you like -- it works fine. In Hawaii, they put the shaved ice & syrup over vanilla ice cream -- try it, it is really yummy that way. "Oh Yeah! Now I can really make my own!", I chose to purchase this based on the glowing reviews and let me say that I am thrilled with this product because it delivers consistent, shaved ice, just like you'd get at a shaved ice stand from a fancy, expensive machine. The blade inside the ice holder is exposed and is sharp, so if you have it in your head to let the kids do this, I'd think again. All you need is some ice (I use standard cubes out of an ice tray) and sno cone paper holders or small ramekins or use the two molds that come with this to hold your shaved ice. You also need some sno cone syrups. Target sells many different flavors during the summer. Hawaiian Shaved Ice sells every flavor imaginable through their website. You will also want some plastic spoons or straws. This is quick to make. I can make a sno cone every 30-45 seconds or less and had about 8 people wanting one last weekend and was able to churn them out in a timely fashion. You will not find an at-home machine that makes truer shaved ice. I adore mine and appreciate the reviewers that recommended it. "Hamilton Beach Snowman Ice Shaver", Very good electric shaved ice maker. Easy to use. Makes a small shaved ice cone in less than a minute. Shaves ice fairly soft with little effort. Probably the best you can get excluding large expensive commercial shaved ice makers. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. Bought it from Amazon: $19.99 w/free shipping. "Disappointed", I bought this for fathers day so the kids and their daddy could enjoy it together. It takes way too long to get enough ice for one snowcone. The kids were very antsy waiting and so were we. You can only put a tiny bit of ice in the ice compartment too or it jams and wont shave ice at all. I thought with the overall number of stars this was given, the bad reviews could just be overlooked but I was wrong. We will be returning this item asap. "Great item!", This product is great! But yes, I agree with the other reviewers here that i wish i had more of those "cups" because this product works so well and easily! A great gift! |
