Others say...
"I was happy with this machine." I just needed a basic carpet cleaner to clean a relatively small 15x15 carpet in a rental condo I own. I didn't want to spend a lot, so the price of this machine (and its hot water cleaning) appealed to me. The carpet is a light beige and only one year old. There were just a few dirty spots and one ketchup stain that I thought might be trouble. This machine worked beautifully and made the carpet look new. It really lifted dirt out of the carpet. You can tell by the dirty water that is dumped out from the holding tank. A great buy and machine for a relatively small carpet. Although this machine works great for smaller areas, I don't recommend it for larger areas for two reasons: the cleaning solution tank empties quickly, meaning you have to stop the machine, remove the empty tank and refill with hot water and solution, then empty the separate dirty water tank. Also, the width of the "cleaning nozzle" is not as wide as more expensive machines, meaning that you're cleaning less carpet with the same amount of movement. For smaller cleaning areas, this machine is a great buy. "just what I wanted" I read all the reviews of this product and got exactly what my little house, 3 dogs, and I all needed. Getting on the floor to use the handheld ones is too hard on my knees: with this you stand up and it is very, very light. Easy to assemble, easy to fill, easy to use and cleaning up afterwards was easy after the first time. They should warn you about all the places the dirty water can leak if you don't hold it exactly right on the way to dump it out. This is small and not what you want to do a large room or the whole house in one day, but for dirty spots or small areas it is perfect. I did my whole house in five days: about 30 minutes each day including set-up and clean up after I got the hang of it. And it is fun! See how dirty that water is and flush it away. I've always spent a lot of time on the floor playing with my dogs but now I'll enjoy it more. "Great suction" I really only use this if there is a bad spill or occasionally I'll clean the stairs with it. Once a year I have professionals come clean all my carpet. One told me not to put soap/cleaners on stains, always try hot water first. The soap will attract dirt in the future. Often I'll heat up water in the tea kettle and pour it on the spot then suck it up with this. This machine does a fantastic job sucking the water out of the carpet. Recently a cup of coffee spilled leaving a broad area stained. Poured the hot water on and used the Bissell to pull it up--stain gone, carpet completely dry. Prob. should have just got one of those little hand held stain removers but most people don't seem to like them much. This machine was easy to assemble and the tanks for water/dirty water are easy to manage as well. I'm not mechanically adept, either. It's lightweight and easy to push/maneuver. I've had mine for almost 3 yrs. "I love this cleaner" This steamcleaner is as easy to use as a vacumn cleaner. I can fill, operate, and empty it while holding my inflant daughter on my hip. It's that easy. Because it's so easy, I use it all the time. It's incredible how dirty the water is every time I use it. You definitely have to vacumn first, as the instructions indicate, because it doesn't pick up small things like beads and thread. After each use, I clean it out really well. You have to use a screwdriver and take it apart a bit, but it's worth it to see the gunk that comes out of the carpet. It's not a steamer, so you just use regular hot tap water, but for the money, it is worth it. I recommend this 100%. "Great for the price" I am going to leave out all of the product features since they are listed above. As for my experience with this machine, I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised by the results. I was apprehensive about buying a personal carpet cleaner since almost every review that I have ever read complained about cheap plastic parts or leaking tanks. When I came across this product in my Gold Box, I figured that I couldn't beat the price and also thought that if there was a problem, Amazon or Bissell would stand behind the machine. Well, I have to say that so far I am very impressed. First, when the unit arrived there was little assembly required. I read one review that found the assembly difficult, but I have to say that I totally disagree with that and I am not mechanically inclined. Moving on, I found the instructions clear and easy to follow, so I was cleaning the carpet within 45 minutes of the machine arriving at my door. We have a 1000 sq. foot apartment and I would say that it took me about 3 hours to throughly clean the entire place. We also have a young daughter and 2 dogs, so there were some areas that I took longer on if you know what I mean. That being said, there was not one stain that the Bissell did not completely remove! I couldn't believe it. When my wife got home that night, she said it looked like we had the carpet professionally done. That is a great commentary. A few drawbacks to the device are the small clean/dirty water tanks. Also, the width of the machine is not of great measure. So, basically you end up filling the clean water tank a lot and alternately emptying the dirty water tank just as often. Couple this with the small cleaning brush width and it makes for a more lengthly cleaning experience. I felt that this was acceptable for a few reasons. One, the price. Two, if you have a small to mid-size apartment, you only clean the entire carpet once or twice a year. The rest of the time you are focusing on individual areas/rooms. So a larger machine is not necessary unless you have a large condo or house. Do not buy this machine if you are going to regularly clean a large area; buy a bigger machine for that kind of job. Also, in a mid-size apartment, storage can become an issue, so the smaller size works well there also. Another heads up is to clean the dirty water tank well after every use. If you are cleaning up urine/food stains, the tank can get pretty ripe while not in use. I recommend bleach every time. Also, remove collected pet hair from the brushes frequently during use. The hair did not reduce the machine's effectiveness, it just looked gross in the brushes which are visible through the clear plastic. So, in conclusion, this is a great machine for use in an average apartment. It tackled pet/food stains well and showed no signs of leaking. I highly recommend this machine.

Bissell 2070 Quicksteamer Powerbrush Lightweight Deep Cleaner
Why I buy this one ? - Compact, lightweight deep cleaner for high-traffic carpets and spot cleaning - Rotating brush roll lifts out ground-in dirt and grooms carpet - Ergonomically designed handle with solution trigger - 1/2-gallon tanks with easy-empty, easy-fill design - 15-3/4 by 9 by 44-1/4 inches; weighs 11.66 pounds lbs. It's better to buy this one too...
What our customer's say! "Bissell is the Best!", I have owned this machine for almost 2 years and use it often. I am always amazed at how much dirt it extracts for such a lightweight small machine. I have one carpeted room in my house, which my dogs love ( the rest of the house is hardwood), so I shampoo it often. I have owned larger machines in the past and this Bissell shampooer works 10 times better. This quality machine convinced me to buy a Bissell vaccuum when my third Hoover died in less than 3 years total. "Amazing LIttle Cleaner", I barrowed my friends quicksteamer thinking how well could this pint sized machine really work compared to a full size cleaner. It may have taken me longer to clean my carpets, but this little machine was so much easier to my back & shoulder & did a great job cleaning. I was even able to do my carpeted stairs to my upstairs. I was so impressed with this little cleaner that I decided to buy one of my own. I went with this 2070 model with the powerbrush because I found a great deal on Ebay. It works even better than the basic model. The power brush worked great at getting pet hair out of my carpet that I couldn't even see was imbedded down in the carpet. With only 2 uses this machine will pay for it's self. No more hoovers for this girl!! My Hoover full sized carpet cleaner was hard on my back & broke down not much longer than a year after owning. My friend has had her Bissell Quicksteamer for 3 years & still running. I highly recommend this machine, it's so easy to use & easy on your pocket book !!! "DO NOT Buy-- broke after 3 uses and no tech support from company", I have a small home and thought this lightweight machine would be perfect for the occassional cleanings. I couldn't have been more wrong! I used it 3 times without problem. Then it started leaving track marks all over my carpet. It didn't look that way when wet, but would dry that way the next morning. I called customer support and got no help. They didn't seem to be very knowledgeable about their equipment. Their solution was to clean the carpet twice- once with solution and then do it all over again with regular water. The warranty is 1 year. I called at 1 year and 1 month having used it only 5 times and got no support. Save your money. Buy another brand altogether. "Awesome light weight machine", I purchased this machine because we have lots of carpeting in the house and two sets of stairs that I would have to lug the cleaner up and down, so light weight was my main priority. I purchased an older model of this cleaner (and was more expensive, I paid $99 from Amazon), however other than the color it looks to be the same. This machine is so easy to fill, use and clean. Works very, very well for its price and is light weight to boot! Since it is smaller than the average cleaner you do have to make more passes to clean an area which may bother some but the ease, speed and weight of this machine makes up for that in my opinion. A little trick to get really soiled areas clean (I have 4 dogs and 3 boys in the house)is to pass over the area SLOWLY while depressing the water trigger and then pull the machine back over the same area while still depressing the water trigger. This method seems to lift out a lot more dirt. Then go over it a couple more times while not holding the water trigger to suck up the remaining water. Moving slowly and extracting as much water as you can is the key to using any carpet cleaner. I always try to use "green" eco friendly products when I can. I use hot water, Oxy Clean (or a generic equivilant) (completely dissolve in the hot water before use though) and Ecos carpet cleaner and this seems to work very very well. Sometimes I just use the Oxy Clean and hot water. The Oxy Clean really seems to deoderize and clean stains extremely well. "Machine still running great after 100+ uses", I often refer to these recommedations when buying products so I wanted to give this machine a decent amount of use before writing up a review. I've now owned the machine for approx. 8 months and it's been very reliable and effective. With 2 adult dogs and 1 puppy in the household we use this machine at least 1-2 times a week and it's been worth it's weight in gold. For dog clean-up I recommend buying a different cleaner than what comes with the machine but I use both at once. For muddy paw prints and dirt the machine can usually do the trick in 2 to 3 passes. This isn't the machine for you if you're looking to do an "all-over" carpet clean. Rather, the smaller size makes it more effcient for spot clean-up. And yes, don't let the picture fool you, it is a miniature version of the larger "vacuum-type" cleaners with no attachments. I've yet to have any problem with leakage. The clean-up of the machine is a little messy and I usually don't do it everytime. All in all, for what I paid I've been very pleased. If I had to replace it tomorrow I still think the 100+ uses was worth it's cost. ![]() Read this reviews before You buy... "Bissell 2070", The Bissell 2070 has its faults, but it does what it does well enough to make it a worthwhile purchase. It helps you postpone or perhaps even eliminate the need of getting a professional cleaning. Despite its name, this is not a steamer. You have to fill its tank with hot water (but at least this makes it an "instant on" device since you do not have to wait for it to make steam). It should not be used to take the place of a vacuum. The instructions say you should thoroughly vacuum the area before using. This is good advice. While the Bissell actually does a great job of picking up particles in the carpet, these are hard to remove from the splash guard on the brush and somewhat hard to get out of the dirty water tank. It is better to avoid the cleanup problem by vacuuming first. The good points: It is relatively small, light, and very easy to push because it does not vacuum. It pulls out a lot of dirt as evidenced by how dirty the waste water becomes. It pulls up the carpet fibers. (Though this also helps hide spots which are not fully cleaned. So your first impression on effectiveness might be better than it really is.) The bad points: The dirty water container is a bit messy. I empty it twice for each tank of hot water put in. You need to lock the handle up so you can carry the cleaner level without tipping to avoid the worst of the leaking. It will not 100% clean high traffic areas which are spotted if you have let it go too long between cleanings. (It does fade them to the point they are not so noticeable though.) The clean water tank is pretty small so it is a bit tedious to frequently deal with having to refill it and also manage the dirty water. "DO NOT BUY!!", I just bought this machine, used it tonight, and it did not work! I am wondering if anyone else who reviewed this had white carpet, white carpet...stupid right?...anyway, it just didn't clean the carpet. When doing just one room I had to fill the soap twice, and empty the water twice. Just not worth it, even though it is the cheapest carpet cleaner out there, NOT WORTH IT! "I'm please but puzzled", I bought this item because of other on line reviews and people with kids and animals loved it. I use it for my 87 yr old grandmothers room (she's a little messy at times) It really did get the spots out of her carpet and the odor as well. I'm puzzled becasue unlike other "steam cleaners" I didn't see any steam??? But it worked well, so I'm happy. As easy to use as a vacuum cleaner and as light weight too. "hugely satisfying purchase", I'm horrified to admit that I've never cleaned my area rugs before. Worse still, I have several pets. The rugs are not expensive, and they are getting kind of old (7-ish years) and kind of grungy, and I'd been thinking I would replace them. That seemed like a shame for rugs that I like, plus being a lot of money for a bunch of new (even non-expensive) replacements, plus being a bunch more "garbage" clogging up the landfill. So I thought I'd try cleaning them before doing anything more drastic, and not knowing anything about this, I thought I'd rent a carpet cleaner somewhere. Then it occurred to me to check Amazon for the price of new ones, just for comparison, and I was blown away by the low price and the great reviews of this product. Mine arrived yesterday, and I am in love with it. I have cleaned two old rugs and one two-month-old rug already, and I can't believe the difference. The old rugs look virtually new. I find myself embarrassed for all the people I've ever had over, thinking I was presenting my house to them as clean (I am a vacuuming nut, so I really did think the rugs were essentially clean.) The difference is amazing. I expected the new rug to be clean, and I really only did that one in order to see the difference in the color of the "dirty" water when I emptied it, as compared to the old rugs. Well, there wasn't much difference. Even though the new rug still looked clean and nice previous to cleaning (while the old rugs definitely looked dirty and stained) there was still grime and ick lurking in the new rug. Doing the old rugs made them look vastly better; doing the new rug made it loook nice, definitely, but the real satisfaction there was knowing that while it looked clean already, NOW it really IS clean. This is one of the most satisfying purchases I've ever made. I only wish I'd done it earlier! As others have pointed out, the machine is light and easy to use and easy to assemble and clean. I am very impressed with it. I am already thinking of getting a couple more to give as gifts -- it is that good. Gotta go. More rugs are beckoning me, and I can hardly wait to clean them . . . "Great carpet cleaner for the size and price", I really like this carpet cleaner. It is big enough to do an entire room, but small and light enough that I pull it out when there are spills. I have 2 boys under 2 years old... so it gets pulled out a lot! In the past, we would typically rent an industrial sized cleaner from the hardware store about every six months. Now that I have this carpet cleaner I will do the rooms we use much more often. I doubt we will rent a bigger cleaner again. ![]() |
