Others say...
"great cooker" I always use to cook my dishes for 2-3 hours so I didn't like to cook so much despite my husband frequent requests for me to cook his favorites. I did the research and got the best pressure cooker for the job for the best price. I ordered the FAGOR 10 quarts because I got scared of burns and threats of explosions and I didn't want any spewing/spillage from the vents. I have used it as soon as I got it. I made spaghetti sauce using frozen ground beef and put all ingredients in and everything was cooked and tasted good in 50 minutes. I made beef stew from frozen short ribs and everything was so tender after 1 hour and 20 minutes. The BEST PART is I can add anything to the cooker without taking it off stove. I just open my vent, wait for the indicator to go down, open the lid , pop the frozen vegetables in, close t up and cook. It pressurizes very quickly. VERY EASY! Sometimes when it spewing I turn off the heat and turn it on when the indicator goes down after 10-15 minutes. I noticed that the broth was not as rich as one simmered or boiled for 2 hours. Maybe I should let the meat boil for 10 minutes before putting on the lid to create more flavor. But if you are making a saucy dish with tomato sauce for lasagna, spaghetti or beef stew, I don't taste the difference. I find myself watching for the venting of steam and I find the adjustment of the applied heat uncertain. Sometimes it is not enough. But I am still experimenting but I am happy with the very tender results. My husband is very happy!!! If this works out, I might get the eletric one, too. "UNDER PREASURE?" I have experienced pressure cooking since I can remember. My mother and father use one all my life. The fear of exploding one of those ancient ones no more; Now today you can make beans in one hour, soften the toughest carcass etc. I've owned one of the smaller ones this pot is awesome, high quality construction easy to use and the price can't be beat. The Spaniards know their pressure pots since they use one daily. A Latin home without a pressure pot unheard of. "Great product, but poor shipping" We have the 10 quart splendind model, and wanted to get one for my mom as a present because we like it so much. The first one arrived damaged (long handle on the pot was broken off), and now the second one arrived damaged (support handle on the pot was broken off). I have no complaints about the product, just the condition of the product upon arrival. "False advertising of product " I received my very pertty Fagor 10 qt. Pressure Cooker/Canner yesterday and had planned to can green beans today. Looks like the fresh beans will go to waste. The problem... Fagor did not tell me when I ordered my CANNER that it was incomplete and required that I buy additional parts inorder to use it. You can't can without the required, but not included, jar rack. When I contacted Fagor America they told me I would have to buy a rack but did not offer any information as to where to buy such a item. I had also asked them to why in one place of the instructions it said you put 2 to 3 inches of water in the canner and yet the examples given in the book said to cover jars with water.Their answer was it was a type O. I think they need to get their act together. It is sure a pertty thing but useless without a rack. "False Advertising" I received my order today and don't believe the product description. There's NO stainless-steel steamer basket included and the instruction manual states that this pressure cooker is NOT dish-washer safe. While I plan to keep my order, I'll be more cautious ordering from Amazon again; if I order from them again. Don't believe everything you read. Caveat emptor.

What our customer's say! "Do not buy", This pressure cooker is the poorest quality I have ever seen. The lid fits so loose that it can not build up any pressure. I had the stove on high fo 40 minutes and it never built up any pressure at all. The steams leaked out from all around the edges of the lid. I would not recommend this at all. "Excellent Pressure Cooker", I am very pleased with this pressure cooker by Fagor. It is made of high quality stainless steel. It cooks amazingly fast! Meats are moist and tender, roasted potatoes are ready in 3 minutes. A whole chicken was cooked in only 17 minutes. It reaches high pressure quickly. I highly recommend this cooker. "Replacement was in perfect condition", I was excited when the product arrived early. Unfortunately it arrived with a broken handle. I returned it and recieved a replacement right away. The replacement was in perfect condition! "I love this thing", My wife and I received a smaller, cheaper preasure cooker as a wedding gift. It came in an open box and was missing instructions and who knows what else. We returned it to Macy's for store credit and found this Fagor cooker. I am so glad we opted for this high quality, large preasure cooker over the smaller one we had received. The Fagor we got is made in Spain, not China. It is very well constructed with a sandwich of stainless steel and aluminum at the bottom. It works very well for browning meats that you will later preasure cook. I have only used it a few times so far, but I am very happy with the results. The time required to cook a large batch of chicken soup or a beef stew is greatly reduced, and the resulting energy savings is always good news. "Made in China not Spain", The product description says "Made in Spain" which is why I bought it. I am really disappointed! ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Great for everything from soups to stews", This has been an amazing addition to my kitchen! I've used it for numerous stocks and stews, I've made beautiful batches of coq au vin, I've even used it for shortcutting the cooking required for molé. Everything's turned out wonderfully, and I always get plenty of complements from my wife and kids. Everything about the unit is a joy. The heavy bottom is terrific when browning up meats and vegetables for cooking. The lid's latch is easy to work. The valve assembly comes apart quite easily for thorough cleaning, and I've even taken the lid assembly completely apart to get back into the various nooks and crannies. This cooker gets frequent use around here and has always been up to the task. I love it! "How did I ever live without a pressure cooker???", I wish I had one of these babies when my children were small. My mother had the old rocking disc type, which made fabulous beef stew, and bbq beef. I wanted to be able to recreate her recipes, but I am amazed at how MUCH you can do with these new generation pressure cookers. I have a six quart as well, and use them constantly. Brown rice is done in 15 minutes...it makes the best chili we have ever had...and chicken and rice is just divine! The pressure forces the flavor all the way into the rice. I have never seen my grown kids fight over chicken and rice, but they did with the pressure cooked stuff. These are safe, simple to use and very well made. If you are short on time, but want GOOD food fast, this is the cooking utensil you need. "Worst "investment" Ever", I opened this product and started reading the manual the same day I received this product. I had trouble operating the operating valve and getting it to work correctly. To Fagor's credit, when I called technical service, they called me back the next day. However, the tech curtly said I didn't know how to operate the product and didn't read the manual. After I hung up, I re-read the manual and still couldn't find the help I needed. Annoyed, I spent 15 minutes trying to call them back, only to be put in an eternal loop trying to get through their system to reach tech support again. I wasn't able to get ahold of them, or leave a message, after 15 minutes. I returned the product. I wouldn't buy anything from Fagor. If you're going to buy a pressure cooker, buy it from someone else with better tech support. I've bought many kitchen products via Amazon, and never encountered the uselessness that equates tech support at Fagor. "Excellent Value for Excellent Food", I have wanted a pressure cooker for some time, and recently received this one as a gift. I have used it a number of times since getting it, and it is becoming my favorite cooking utensil. Since getting it, I have cooked: - beans (less than 25 minutes to perfect texture with NO presoaking) - chicken (25 minutes to fall-of-the bone tenderness) - roast (the most tender, juicy and best tasting my family has eaten) A 10-quart cooker may be somewhat larger than many people think they need. I love the large size because I can cook for family or for company and don't have to worry about not having enough room. This is a simple to use, easy to clean way to have delicious food for a family in a hurry. From taking a chiken out of the refrigerator to dinner on the table is often less than 40 minutes. While this is also true of other pressure cookers, the Fagor Splendid cooker has easy to use locking mechanisms, and it's simple design makes it reliable and easy to clean. A couple of suggestions: Read the instructions. While this cooker is simple to use and clean, the instructions contain a number of very useful hints. Had I read the instructions beforehand, my first dish would have been less of a hassle than it was. Second, buy accessories. This pot is just a pot - no trivet, no basket, no spoons, nothing else. To do serious pressure cooking, you need some of these other utensils. A final comment: you won't get better for this price. I recommend this for any serious cook who has limited time. "maryM", This is an excellent pressure cooker at an excellent price. I do feel they should have included a trivet and metal plate. All of the accessories are extra. I ordered the canning rack which holds 4 pints. I don't believe it would be wise to try to can quarts in this one, but the directions were not clear. In fact, I would have given this a much higher rating if they were, but I had trouble figuring out how to use it...and one does want to follow directions where a pressure cooker is concerned. They kept referring to to pressures, hi and low. I finally realized the 6 qt model has both but not the 10 and the directions were applicable to each model. The 10 quart pressures at 15 lbs....FAST! I once had Fagor 6 qt model and the metal was heavier than this one. However, the upside is that it is easier to lift up to pour things from it which is a plus if you're elderly as I am. I really like they way this cooks; fast, easy to clean. It's beautifully designed pan. There are numerous uses for non-pressure cooking too. Big enough for a stock pot, cooking spagetting for a crowd, etc etc. I haven't canned with it. However, I plan on making a big pot of soup and canning what's left. One reviewer mentioned that you can't fill it over 2/3 full. That is true of ANY pressure cooker. So if you are debating between a 6 quart or a 10 quart, go for the 10 quart. There are additional accessories for this..canning rack, bucket insert (for spaghetti, etc.) I recommend getting the lid for non-pressured food and keep the pressure lid for pressure. I don't think you will be disappointed with this product. ![]() |
