"Top Notch"
I'm a dedicated tea drinker and fire up the kettle 2-4 times a day. After a year or so my Krupps' (or Braun - I forget) kettle base started buzzing and it would only turn on if I shifted the kettle this way or that so it was time to buy another. I read the reviews on this one, purchased it and have liked it a lot. I like the chrome look, the softer sound, and the length of time that the water in the kettle stays hot. It pours nicely as well. I have not touched the outside of the kettle after it has boiled but "duh" why would I so I don't know if it gets hot or not. I highly recommend this kettle.

"Big problem - surface way too hot"
This is unacceptable because the exterior surface gets far too hot. Some reviewers have suggested simply keeping it out of th reach of children. I disagree - this is not sufficient. For anyone using it, pouring hot water out of it, an unaware guest, and even regular user, it is too easy to accidntally touch the surface and it is extremely hot, you can even get a blister from it. Too bad the manufacturer couldn't figure out a solution - perhaps an insulating layer within, to allow the attractive metal surface without the scaldingly high heat.

"Sounds like the airplane is taking off"
Several things that you have to keep in mind when getting this kettle:

1. Very, very noisy!!! It sounds like an airplane is taking off in your kitchen. We used to have Krups kettle before and it was not making a pip comparing to this one.
2. Gets very hot where the metal parts are so it is not very safe. Again Krups was made of plastic and was not hot outside at all.
3. The spout is not covered so it is very easy to get burned. Krups had a cover which you had to open by pressing a button while pouring hot water. This kettle has a wide opened spout.
4. It is OK for the price but definetely not the BEST choice as other reviewers are claiming.

"Good for a small office...."
The kettle holds a large amount of water, but takes awhile for it to boil. Sleek design, durable materials yet LOW price...It's quite a DEAL!

"Best Teakettle EVER!!!!"
I have to say this is the Best Teakettle Ever. It looks soooo great on my counter. You can wind up the cord inside the base so it's not all over the counter showing. The water stays warn inside for quite some time, for that second cup. It takes no time to boil. The pot is hot to touch, of course, its Metal. So if you have small ones around, just make sure it's at the back of the counter so they don't get at it. Any good Mom & Dad know that. It works so TERRIFIC. I can't believe I've lived with out it as long as I have. The Company is the BEST to work with. Their customer service is outstanding. I will definitely buy from this company again. I can't say anything but the BEST about their product and their customer service. If I had to rate them on a scale from 1-10, 10 being the BEST, I'd say they were an 11. Thanks, My Tea has never tasted so good.

What our customer's say!

"great kettle....", poor lid design. The kettle works great, but the lid hinge broke after just a few months. Breville has excellent customer service and replaced it with a different model. This one I believe is discontinued.

"My first electric kettle--why'd I wait so long?", I drink LOTS of iced tea, and therefore brew every day. I finally decided to get an electric kettle in the hopes it would help streamline my morning routine. I decided on the Breville because I knew I wanted stainless steel, but not expensive. And man, am I happy with it! I've never timed it, but it's SO much faster than the stovetop! The pot does get hot to the touch, but that's what happens when you put hot H2O in a metal container. Besides functioning well, it looks great. No heating plastic smell either. I've travelled with this kettle as well, and find it sturdy. Overall, a great purchase.

"Great Kettle", I have now had this kettle six months at work and use it several times a day almost every day. It works great. The speed that it heats up water is amazing (fast). It is a little loud when it is heating up, but probably no more so than a pot on the stove that is about to boil. The auto-shutoff feature is great. It shuts down about 5-10 sec after it comes to a boil, but don't worry--If you come back just a little too late, once it's hot, it only task a couple of seconds (literally) to bring it back to a rolling boil. Finally the cordless feature is a must. All in all, I can't think of anything I don't like about this kettle.

"Cordless Kettle - Must Have", I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Kettle. Every kitchen needs one. We first saw this type of Kettle on a trip to Prague, Czech Republic. This particular model works extremely well. Almost to good. The water in it if you let it go and it shuts off automatically is boiling hot. Which I find is to hot for me if I'm going to enjoy my tea right away, so I usually shut it off manually before it gets that hot. But this kettle is excellent for a number of things. Anything you need hot water for. Instant Soup, Jello, Tea, Instant Coffee, I also use it to heat water and then pour the water over a George Foreman grill we have to clean it.

"Fabulous kettle!", I *love* this kettle. It's very nice-looking (matches my stainless steel appliances:), easy to keep clean, and water boils in a jiffy.

It has a nice shut-off button, and it's a snap to place it back on the base w/o having to struggle w/ exact placement. The cord is the teensiest bit bulky, but compared to the other units out there, this isn't bad at all.

I have an electric stove, so it would take forever to boil water for tea. That's why I bought this but I figured it would only cut down on the time a little. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised -the water boils super quick!

My mum and dad are tea drinkers, so we fired this up several times a day while they were visiting. I bet my electric bill would have been higher w/o this kettle.

We're finding new uses for this every day such as for general cooking purposes as well as for things like preparing herbal brews for my cats, heating water for my morning oatmeal, water for hubby's Korean noodle bowls, etc.

I have found the kettle to be very quiet even when water is boiling furiously. Needless to say, exercise basic caution i.e. if you're going to open the lid after the water has boiled, make sure it points away from you. I haven't ever found the need to do so, I just wait till it's cool enough to handle so I can rinse it out prior to my next use.

I have been really disappointed w/ the general quality of appliances lately, so this was a very pleasant surprise. I'm sooo glad I bought this kettle.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Breville cordless kettle", Absolutely fabulous. I was spoiled by this kettle (in 220v version) while living in London and was delighted to find a 110v version. It is heavy and does get hot, but it is very quick to heat water and looks good enough to keep on the countertop. Great product.

"The Kettle That Could", We found the perfect kettle that could take the place of "OLD RED" the whistling tea kettle. The Breville cordless kettle heats water very quickly and turns itself off when the water boils. This kettle has nice clean lines and stays out on the counter without making things look untidy or cluttered. I would reccommend this kettle to anyone who needs to boil water for that cup of tea or to make coffee.

"How do I love my Breville? Let me count the ways...", Let me start by saying that I love my Breville.

To clarify, I'm a recent convert to the non-stovetop, electric tea kettle...and I'd never go back. It took some convincing by my husband. (Electric kettles come standard in every British and Australian home. Somehow I didn't register that they were probably on to something.) I was attached to the whistle and was obsessed with finding a kettle with a very cool design. Let me tell you, I looked high and low for the perfect kettle before my conversion.

Several reasons why electric kettles rule over stove top... Number one - kettles on the stove are constantly spattered with grease and never look their best. I saw a friend's chrome kettle recently and it looked pretty gross. That's when it dawned on me. I've not even wiped off my Breville since we got it and its chrome is as shiny as can be.

They're really efficient, using just enough energy to get that amount of water to come to a healthy boil. Then they switch off. I actually don't miss that shrill whistle which is really pointing out you've left your kettle to long. The water comes to a boil WAY faster than it ever did on the stove. (A watched pot actually does come to a boil in this case.) And it's got this great clear window, so you know exactly how much water you're boiling. No more guessing by the weight of the pot. I can boil just the right amount for a cup or a pot of tea.

It really doesn't take up much space on my counter, and I use it so much that I'm actually fine with giving it real-estate. I like the way it looks too. I'm kind of a stickler for that...the form and the function. Its black and chrome give it a modern look and its slightly squat shape evokes a sort of R2-D2 or friendly chicken-feel.

It's got a thick, sturdy black plastic handle so it's easy to pick up and pour and there's no danger of burning yourself. There's a hinged lid on the top that opens so it's easy to fill. I can actually fill it with filtered water from a pitcher. (This was impossible with my old kettle because the handle was in the way). It pours very well - never a dribble.

It fits nicely into its base. The base is rubberized, so it doesn't budge or slip - a good safety measure. When it's in the base you can swivel the pot around. I can orient it so steam doesn't go under my cabinets.

My tea consumption has increased tenfold. I think I'm still not over the novelty of my new kettle and that it takes just few seconds until I'm on my way to having another cup of tea! Maybe the English are on to something after all.

"It rocks!", This is a solid buy. Works well, cheap, I've very happy with it. Wish I had just read the great reviews on it and bought it rather than having looked at alot of other models and wasted time. Get it, and you'll be happy. Now go outside and enjoy your day.

"Loving the Breville Cordfree in Vermont!", I thought I had researched every cordless stainless steel kettle that was out there (and couldn't find exactly what I wanted). Then I happened on the Breville. It's exactly what I was looking for. I've been using it for about 2 months now and it is GREAT. I have no complaints. It is incredibly heavy duty, beautiful to look at, and boils a mean cup (several cups, in fact) of water swiftly. A couple of things you should know: 1) One thing that I hadn't thought about before it arrived was that the water level window is made of plastic and is significantly sized. Being the anti-plastic person that I am, I worried briefly about boiling water against the plastic, but I noticed that it doesn't change the taste of the water at all and it is, in fact, a good indicator for knowing how much water is in there. So, I'm just mentioning that feature in case it matters to you one way or the other; 2) If you find it challenging to get back on the base, I found that "walking" (sort of gently rocking) it will slip it easily back on (it's got two little green "pins" that swing in and out on the bottom that just need to get positioned correctly). Now that I grasped that little nuance, it returns easily to its base every time. The bottom line is that I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this kettle. It is an extremely well made kettle and I highly recommend it.
