"Very nice, easy to use and has remained sharp"
I got this can opener about 6 months ago and I remain happy with it. It took a bit to get used to it and at first there was a little fiddling required to set it on the can - it is a bit different to use.

I have had a lot of can openers in the last few years and so far this has lasted the longest in terms of blade sharpness. A very nice surprise as I was beginning to believe all can openers became dull almost immediately! Despite my throwing it into the dishwasher it works as well as it did when I first got it.

The mechanics of it - the one handed action - I think you will either love or hate. I find it very nice and can be opening the can while draining it over the sink in one motion. Setting it on the can at first can be a bit awkward but that is really a *learning curve* kind of thing and after you use it a few times it will become second nature. I will say that some cans are easier to open than others and some hand strength is required..more for some cans than others. You can use both hands to squeeze the grips if needed but if hand strength is an issue probably an electric can opener would be the best option in general.

I would make this purchase again and I am happier with this can opener than any one I have bought in in the last few years.

What our customer's say!

"This tool rocks!", I love this opener. I've got one hand, so it certainly works better for me than a regular opener. The kicker is that it works so well my Dad (has his own) and my girlfriend (both with a complete set of hands) quit using their electric openers and use this one!
It opens cans with only a few squeezes of the handle (4-5 as I recall) and the only flaw is that it drops the lid in the can.

"Chef'n hand can opener", This is a great can opener and is easy to use. You do not have to be strong to use this opener. I bought one for everyone in my family and recommended it to all my friends. I got rid of my electric opener and only use this one now. It's a great gadget to have around.

"I Have Found This Opener To Be Great", I bought this opener a couple of years ago and have had no problems. It's easy to use. Equally important, it has lasted lo these many years. (I have never been able to get an electric can opener to work beyond a year.) But most important of all, I have only one arm and this device has been a life saver.

"Only OK", Recommended by Alton Brown, this is only OK. The cutter tends to go into the fluid. My simple traditional can opener seems to work better without getting the cutter blade into the can contents as often.

"The bomb in can openers", I was a big fan of the can openers that uncrimped the top and didn't leave a sharp edge. Then they broke, and broke, and broke again.
This guy was a little different. I loved the fact that it would latch onto a can and just cut away at it. With just one hand! The other great feature was the magnetic button on the handle that picked up the lid (as long as it wasn't too sticky) and get on with your business.
Here's my only gripe with it. It doesn't get along well with the dishwasher I like my appliances (like can openers) scalpel clean. I admit that I wouldn't think of putting my wok or cast iron skillet anywhere near soapy water (let alone a dishwasher), but I would expect a can opener to survive the trip.
