"feeling cheated"
I replaced my old Brita pitcher (I broke it) with this bigger one. I hate it. I have to wait until every bit of water has trickled into the reservoir before it can be used, and that is not a quick process. In a family, trust me, everyone isn't going to reliably fill the pitcher each time they use it. You will be waiting and waiting just to make some coffee. The lid leaks like a sieve if you try to pour some before it is all in the bottom. Additionally, it is really a two handed operation just to pour from. The lid will fall off sometimes, even when it seems properly seated, and water will be everywhere. I know this can happen with any pitcher if the lid isn't on correctly, but it happens a lot with this one. So, one hand to pick it up, and one hand to hold the lid on is really required.
An electronic gage to advise you how your filter life is progressing that moves in 25% increments might make you think there is something actually being gaged, other than the simple passage of time, that is. But all this thing does is tell you that in two months you should change the filter. It doesn't matter if you were on vacation the whole two months or a football team playing in the August heat was using your pitcher, it will need changing in two months.

"Great Pitcher"
I had a smaller round Brita, but it was only two quarts. This one is three quarts and it fits in my fridge much better. I don't have to carry all of that water upstairs in an elevator (I live on the 17th floor) or spend my money on bottled water any longer.

"Big problems right out of the box"
I just bought one of these. I've used Brita pitchers before and have had no issues with them. However, I can't get the top reservoir out of the pitcher. Moreover, there's a paper booklet stuck in the pitcher. I can't find any instructions on Brita's website about how to remove the reservoir. What a pain.

"Flawed, but good."
I haven't had the problems the other reviewer (as of this date) has had, but I do agree the design of the Brita Grand isn't perfect.

The main problem I have is with the pitcher cover, specifically where the lid is pressed, raising it to allow the pitcher to be filled. To make room for the pressed lid, an indent (and thus a small reservoir) was included and this is a perfect place for undesired water to collect and spill. I have spilled water from this spot several times and although it's certainly possible to avoid allowing water into this spot, one wonders why a fairly large pitcher designed for alot of use (especially for a family with children) requires so much care to engage in the simple act of filling it.

The only other complaint I have is with the timer. Although the literature accompanying this pitcher doesn't specifically state how this timer is calibrated, it's pretty clear that after 2 months, the timer needs to be reset and the filter needs to be replaced. O.K. This may work for the average family of four, but what if I'm a single guy who doesn't use this pitcher nearly as often? Do my filters need replacing every 2 months? I think not! A better design would have been to decrease the time on the 'timer' whenever the pitcher is poured, i.e. tipped to such an angle that indicates pouring or whenever the lid to the spout is opened and water is passed through. This would have made for a more complicated and more expensive but more accurate design. I understand that Brita wants to sell as many replacement filters as possible, but I don't intend to succumb to this not-so-clever bit of marketing. (It's rather like the 'moisturizing' strips on razors telling you when you need to insert a new razor blade.)

Other than that, I like this pitcher. My tap water actually isn't too bad to begin with, but the water from this pitcher is a definite improvement. Tasteless, odorless, colorless and deliciously refreshing!

"Poor design"
This pitcher is designed so that when you try to empty it -- pour out all the water -- the filter comes crashing out! It's top-heavy. I much prefer my dispenser that lives in the fridge. It may be clumsy to refill -- which is why I thought I'd try a pitcher -- but it's extremely easy to use.
