"Makes the best coffee ever"
This French press coffee maker makes the best coffee I've ever had, and my wife and I are crazy about good coffee. I have had mine for more than a year, and it is just like brand-new because it is built like a tank. We even carry it with us on trips, because coffee made any other way does not compare. I do not know if the glass French press coffee makers make the same quality of coffee, but it is obvious that they would not last as long.

"So good I bought two!"
I really love this French Press. My husband drinks decaf coffee and I drink regular coffee. So,once I bought this pot, found out how easy it is to use and how wonderful the resulting coffee is, I bought him the next smaller size for his decaf. It's especially wonderful on Sunday morning when we spend half the morning reading two local papers. Both pots keep our respective coffees hot and allows us each to have two mug-fulls.

It's important to know exactly how many ounces your mug/cups hold before you buy the press. The 5-6 cup pot (32 ounces) is not nearly as large as you would think. Because it's a double-walled thermal stainless steel pot, it looks a lot bigger than its capacity. It's easy to make half a pot for the weekdays when you're in a hurry. You need extra capacity for the two-cup weekend morning.

A burr coffee grinder is important. Not a cheap one that chops the coffee into "hunks and dust". The burr grinder and premium coffee, purchased frequently so it has been roasted very recently, are key to the very best coffee. I think my coffee is better than Starbucks now!

Cleaning this pot is so easy. I just put water and dishwashing soap in the pot, put the lid/plunger on, raise and lower the plunger to clean it, then rinse it.

This Frieling French Press is wonderful. Makes the best coffee we've had!

"Way Better Than Bodum"
Used a Bodum French press until the plastic connection between the plunger screen and shaft loosened to the point where the screen would tilt! as the plunger decended (allowing big time "blow by" of grounds).

Then decided to shop around for really high quality French press and after reading the excellent reviews on the Frieling, bought two of the 6 cup models. Have used these now for a couple of months and have come to really appreciate the German design, engineering, and manufacturing quality of these press pots.

Here are specifics as to what sets them apart (and in my opinion makes them worth the steep prices):

-- All metal construction of the plunger assembly means everthing stays together and aligned (no blow-by due to wobbly screen-to-shaft connections).

-- Very important -- the screen mesh wraps very precisely up and around the sides of the round plunger spring and has never inverted -- on the Bodum the screen would invert when raising the plunger for cleaning -- this meant that the edge of the screen would eventually get very uneven (crinkled along the edge) and allow 'blow by" of grounds when pushing the plunger back down on subsequent use. My impression is that on the Bodum, the screen is a flat disc that wraps up around the side of the spring, whereas on the Frieling it seems that the screen has been pre-molded in a dish-shape to ensure that the edge is smooth as it wraps upward.

-- Screen mesh appears to be somewhat finer than other models, however I've never had a clog.

-- Handle design has really good ergonomics (thumb goes on top of the outer shaft, curled handle makes for a natural smooth pour, and finger gap is just right distance out from body of pot).

-- Double wall insulation means coffee stays acceptably hot for up to 45 minutes.

-- Subtle thing but, with the plunger raised, it's easy to just smap the cover and plunger screen on top of the pot (fits precisely with a resounding 'thunk') while coffee is brewing, and this is stable tight fit (again unlike the Bodum which has a loosely fitting top and plastic insert) so you can walk around with the pot ready to plunge... and equally importantly, because there's no wiggle room at the cover, the plunger goes precisely straight down with no wobbling or walking at the edge of the screen.

-- No drip spout.

-- Clean up is trivial -- just a rinse.

-- Polished stainless steel looks great.

-- Bullet proof stainless steel construction does look like it should last a long time.

BTW, replacement screen/plunger assemblies for all pot sizes are indeed available from the USA importer for Frieling -- just search on "Frieling", go to the consumer products section of the main site and then to the "Coffee Accessories" subsection.

"Wish I got the larger one"
I love this press- beautiful, well made, easy to clean and makes great coffee. My only regret is that I didn't order a larger one. It is 23 oz, but when you consider displacement of the grounds, you end up with about 20 oz of coffee which is a VERY SCANT 2 mugs. Other than that, it's great.

"Highest quality product"
This is the fourth Freiling product that I have purchase and every one
has been of the highest of quality. They are beatiful and rugged and
make the best coffee.

What our customer's say!

"perfect cup of coffee", I can't imagine a finer coffee press---holds the heat a long time--the filter system is superb and its just a beautiful to look at press and is a heavy well built press--i give it 5 stars

"Perfect for me", Couldn't be happier. Best coffee I've ever made at home. Easy to use, easy to clean, just the right size for me and keeps the coffee perfectly hot at least for the 25 minutes it takes me to finish my 3 small mugs in the morning (milk included). Buh Bye Starbucks, you shouldn't have tried to shove your new Pikes Place coffee down my throat. I like to taste my coffee.

"Father's day a hit", Bought this for my husband for Father's day this year and it was a big hit. Because of his tendency to break things I went with the all metal version instead of the pretty glass versions. Looks great while entertaining and my husband doesn't have to be overly gentle with it. He uses it every day and loves it. And it makes the best cup of coffee on the planet. Buy it.

"I love it", I am from the northwest and we like our coffee. I have purchased about 5 or 6 glass French presses over the years. I was not sure about going on line and buying a stainless steel one. I did and I am thrilled with it. It is sturdy, the press is a much higher quality than the ones you get with the glass French presses. I would recommend this product.

"Fabulous french press!", This 23-oz french press makes about 2 regular American mug-size cups of good coffee- perfect for me and a friend. It says 5-6 cups but I think those must be smaller 'European' size cups. It is also great for loose leaf tea. It cleans up well in the dishwasher and is so much better than glass presses because it is far sturdier (2 layers of steel rather than scratchable glass and the mesh doesn't rust or discolor). A glass press may last 6 months to a year or so. I've had mine for 6 months now and it is good as new.

It saves me money in some way because I don't buy coffee from Starbucks or Coffee Bean anymore in the mornings. Also I buy whole bean coffee, grind it up myself and store it.

It is NOT to be confused with a thermos and will not keep your coffee hot for a prolonged period of time.

If you like French press coffee or drink tea often, I think it is worthwhile. And you can experiment w/ various coffee beans, teas, and spices for fun.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Made in China.", Would be a 5-star rating, but the unit I received has a pinhole in a weld so it is not vacuum sealed. Didn't bother returning it because I am not concerned with keeping the beverage hot for a longer period of time. Other than that, it's attractive, functional, durable and feels good in the hand. No more broken Bodum glass presses for me. 5-6 cups is a classic European cup, for me and my American supersized caffeine addiction, I get about two cups.

"Two Words: Solid Simplicity", I have owned this fantastic coffee press for about six months, and have nothing but good things to say. It is crafted to endure for years, unlike its competitors. Forged from solid steel throughout, it is highly durable, and lends itself to a good "heft" in the hand. The mesh filter apparatus spearates easily for thorough cleaning of grounds that get stuck. Best of all, for stronger coffee drinkers as myself, a substantial amount of grounds can be added to concoct a bold brew of your liking. The somewhat high price is offset by the fact that this may indeed be the final coffee press you may ever own, as the other models made of glass routinely break over the course of time.

"Outstnading product Frieling 5-6 C French Press", We love it! Highly recommending for temp, durability and appearance.
We had a new Bodum glass French press that did not last long. It cracked within two months of little use. Instead of investing in a replacement we went with this wonderful product. No regrets.

"Excellent Coffee Press", I can only say good things about this coffee press. It works great! Well worth the money. Better than any press I've used.

"Would be 5 stars if I could find a replacement screen", So like most French presses, with daily use, you will wear out the mesh screen part of the strainer assembly, generally within a year or so. Usually, at least for Bodum French presses, you can easily find replacement screens at a low cost online. NOT SO with the Frieling presses. I cannot find them anywhere, and I am dreading finding out that I will have to toss my $60 French press because the company doesn't sell the $3 spare part for it. Such a stupid issue, but a major one.

Someone, please correct me and tell me where I can find a replacement screen, I implore you. (They don't even have them on their own (Frieling's) website!)
