The first month was ok, it overcooked rice almost all the time. After that it undercooked rice almost every other time most grains had outer part overcooked by inner part undercooked. I experimented with less and more water and even bought different brand of rice - still the same! Too bad I didn't buy it from Amazon so I could return in. Now, I'm looking for a new rice cooker and I'm staying away from zojirushi. "Zojirushi Rice Cooker" I gave this as a gift to my son. He has said several times how easy and reliable this rice cooker is. "Great so far!" Seems to work very nicely. Have not used it much but when I do it works as advertised. I love the retractable cord- U.S. manufacturers take note!

What our customer's say! "Best rice maker.", This rice maker has been the best that I've used. I've plunked down $20 for the Black and Decker special and have always gotten crispy rice on the bottom of the bowl. Not the Zojirushi! This cooker is awesome, from the steam vent to the "dew collector" the little bells and whistles make it worth it. So far, we've gone through a 20# bag of rice with this cooker and each batch has come out perfect. I think the pressure lid is what makes the rice cook so well. This cooker is also easy to clean and break down for cleaning. One more thing...retractable cord, it rocks! Zojirushi rules! "Awesome Rice Cooker/Steamer", I love my Zojirushi rice steamer. There has not been a day that I didn't have great rice since it arrived. The only problems I have had is getting the rice--water mix right (too much water or not enough). Its always eatable! I was a little scared to purchase a more expensive model rice cooker. I was afraid I would be spending a lot more money and getting the same results. I ended up being pleasently surprised. I just followed the cooking instructions, pressed the button, and it produced perfect rice. Better than I ever produced in my less expensive model. It will also cook perfect brown rice. I followed the instructions I had read from another reviewer, which was to soak the rice overnight, then cook with a little more water, and it turns out wonderfully too. I would highly recommend this rice cooker. I don't think you'll be disappointed. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "affordable, does what it says", Non-stick pot is excellent for clean-up. I use the right side of the water meter on the pot. Ie. 5 cups rice, I fill up water to the 5 line on the right side of the meter. If it's better quality rice, I fill water right below the respective line. Sometimes I made "okayu" so it's not fool-proof. Retractable power cord is convenient. CON: the lid sometimes doesn't close with a snap. I went to pick it up once and it wasn't closed well. You have to push with slight force when closing to make sure the lever is closed. I have a hunch that this might be made in taiwan...but all the writings on the lid attachment is in japanese so... "restaurant quality rice", This is what we have been missing all these years. We have used a regular rice cooker of a reputable brand (Black & Decker) for many years. It made okay rice, but we always assumed that better quality rice wasn't within the reach of a household rice cooker, so we never looked for one. But the Zojirushi NS-RNC10 changed all that. I bought it based on reviews. It arrived quickly. After unpacking, I became doubtful because this rice cooker seemed to have the same type of heating mechanism as our old one. It sure had a lot better appearance, but how could it cook better rice if the heating mechanism was the same? Well it did. It must be doing it differently despite a similar appearance of the heating mechanism. By my standard at least, the rice is just about perfect. Fluffy (rather than sticky which I dislike the most for improperly cooked rice), and soft but not mushy and pasty. I think this is as good as high quality restaurant rice. I seriously doubt a more expensive rice cooker would cook better rice. A more expensive unit might have the flexibility of adjustments for a variety of rices, but if you are like us who would have just one kind of rice for an extended period of time before switching to a different kind, this rice cooker is it. I actually prefer its simplicity and wouldn't trade it for a multilevel selector. For the kind of rice we currently buy (Super Lucky Elephant jasmine rice at Costco), this rice cooker is spot on if you follow its marked measures. "Zojirushi Rice Cooker and Warmer", I have been extremely happy with this rice cooker! It cooks the rice up perfect every time. This size is great for my family of 3. I like the lid design, and I was pleasantly surprised at the retractable cord. It was a feature that I did not realize was on this product. The price was a bit steep, but we use a rice cooker several times a week and I wanted a quality one. "Unbeleivably fabulous!", I've had this for a few months and used it several times. It is just about idiot proof. It cooks rice perfectly every time and keeps it perfect for hours. Clean up is a snap. My friends are tired of hearing me brag about my new rice cooker! "perfect rice!", I received this rice cooker last night - washed it, and immediately used it to cook 2 cups of rice (2 cups dry). I timed it to see how long it took to cook & it was only 16 minutes!! I couldn't believe it. The rice was perfect. It probably would have been even more fluffy if I had let it soak for 30 mins like the directions suggested. It's a perfect size for the 2 of us - with the occasional guests - you can cook 5.5 cups of dry rice which is 10 cups of cooked. I'm going to try some brown rice this weekend. I can't wait. |
