"Superior Coffeemaker", This is one of the best affordable coffeemakers on the market. It keeps coffee hot and doesn't leak out when you pull the carafe out from under the filter unit. The 4 cup option is also quite nice, as it quickly warms smaller amounts of coffee (1-4 cups). The functional interface is simple and elegant.

"Great coffeemaker!", Much has already been said about this coffeemaker. My only comment is that most of what has been said about the design "problems" are minimal and do not overshadow the great coffee that this machine makes. Before buying I read all the reviews and found nearly every comment true -- you can't see the clock well, you have to have some room above the coffee maker to add the water easily, etc -- and that's what I love about these reviews. We all notice little things about the stuff we buy. So, there were no surprises with this machine once I got it home. I went with the overriding comment that this machine makes a great, hot, cup of coffee and indeed it does. Very pleased with the purchase and even more pleased that there are sites like this one where we can weigh all the pros and cons before purchasing. Thanks to all that went before me!

"wonderful machine!", I love this coffee maker. It is nice looking, doesn't drip while pouring, fast, easy to use. Only one complaint is the basin that you fill with water is small, I am tempted to get a funnel. I'd recommend it to others w/o a doubt!

"This is a great coffee maker", This is a great coffee maker. I really like the glass carafe. My previous model had thermal carafe and never thought the coffee was hot enough or strong enough and it was a pain to fill the carafe with hot water to warm it up before I brewed a pot. Back to this coffee maker - this coffee maker makes great hot coffee - yes! It is easy to use and to clean. I read all the reviews and I must say that people are passionate about coffee makers so it was very helpful to read both the good and bad reviews to make a selection on the right machine. The coffee was hot, the machine is easy to program, clean, use.

"Really decent coffee maker", This coffee maker cost about $20 more than my Mr. Coffee (which died after 2 years of use) and makes coffee that is about a million times better. I really like the 1-4 cup brewing feature and the ability to adjust the hotplate temperature. If I had known that using the Cuisinart DCC-1200 was going to be such a good experience, I would've chucked the Mr. Coffee long ago. I've only had it for two weeks, so I can't attest to the service life of the coffee maker, but Cuisinart's 3-year warranty is a good sign. Time will tell, but so far I've had a very good experience, no complaints.

"Excellent coffee maker", Does an excellent job brewing coffee. Easy to clean--have the black model. Not sure that I like the interior guide for water quantity. My husband and I enjoy a higher quality coffee in that we buy Starbucks beans and grind them. We aren't the connoisseur types who must special order from Africa but do like a bit better quality than your typical supermarket brand. This brewer does an excellent job with this quality coffee. It even seems to save on your coffee as we do not seem to require as much to get the nice bold taste that we desire. What I especially like is the heat setting on the brewer. You can make a really hot cup of coffee which I like. It does take a bit longer than our old Krups, but I'll wait. It appears to be constructed very well. The only complaint we would have is the hinge on the lid is very poorly constructed. They really could have done a better job here. From what we have heard this model is known for this. We got an excellent deal for this machine as a display model (sold as new) but when it came the hinge was broken and a small plastic piece was in the bottom of the box. We left a message with the dealer about the problem. When they called back they said would be more than happy to take it back with a full refund as the problem was well known. They had even already booked the carrier. They also offered to just sell us the maker for $25. We decided to keep it for that as it still works fine with only the one hinge and for $25 why not.

"Excellent Coffee Maker", This item arrived in 2 days and we've been pleased with it. At night,you can set it to brew coffee in the morning at whatever time you wish, and you wake up to a freshly brewed pot of coffee. It will stay hot for 3 hours. A small amount of coffee will make a large pot, depending upon how strong you like it. I use the scoop that came with the machine and use half the number of scoops for the number of cups desired. For example, for 8 cups of water, I use only 4 scoops of coffee. You can make any amount up to 12 cups. After programming it, I set it to "auto-brew" and forget it until I want to drink coffee. It is the best coffee maker I've ever tried. We are very pleased with it.

"it is OK, but just OK", I bought the DCC-1200 for one basic reason. My wife wanted one that was easier to clean than the Mr Coffee we had and that would not show coffee stains as easily as the white Mr Coffee.

The Cuisinart is easier to clean and the black plastic hides any errant drips or splashes. The machine looks large, imposing and impressive.

In a blind taste test between the old, inexpensive Mr Coffee and the new Cuisinart, I could not tell the difference.

The various options and controls are interesting, but once set I do not use them. There is a beep, beep, beep when it is done brewing and a beep, beep when it shuts off [after a user defined interval]. I usually have my first cup when it begins the "almost done" gurgling which I find more useful than beep, beep, beep. The last beep, beep is useful as I know the coffee is too old to drink, but one more cup may be all that I need. Or it tells me to make another pot and start the beep, beep, beeping all over again. Do you find the beep, beep, beep annoying as yet?

There are things that I do not like. The carafe must be made by the same people who make the dribble glass. It is next to impossible to pour without dripping. All the carafes we have ever had were the flip up cover variety where a one handed thumb motion is all that was needed for convenient filling. This carafe has a lid that snaps on and must be removed to fill. A two handed operation. Snapping it back in place requires minor precision and the feeling that it is not going to last.

Once you have it filled, pouring the water into the coffee maker is a small challenge as you have to hit a small opening at the top rear and it dribbles on the counter as you fill. There is no external indication of how much water is in the reservoir and a little set of stairs internal to the machine leaves me clueless.

The filters are the Melita type rather than the ubiquitous and cheap basket type.

So all in all, it is not great and it is not awful, it is just OK. And it makes coffee which is all I wanted int he first place.So I am happy.

"5 Star Coffee Maker", This thing makes great coffee! I love a good cup of coffee, and if you do too this is one coffee maker you need to get. It isn't perfect, but it's close. I love it!

The Cons: The opening where you pour the water is too small. While pouring, you have to be careful so you don't miss it and make a mess. The water level markings inside the water reservoir are very difficult to see, so you must use the carafe' to measure the water.

The Pros: Everything else! It looks great; the coffee comes out hot and stays that way. There is a little green light that comes on to let you know that the auto on feature is activated, so no getting up at 5am only to find that you forgot to set your coffee maker. It takes about 12 minutes to make a full pot. This is the best coffee maker I've ever owned. The black and chrome looks great in my kitchen too. Buy one and you'll be glad you did!


"Pleased in Maine", My son suggested the Cuisinart for Mother's Day, as a replacement for my older model Krups. I had looked for a similar Krupps model in white, with a glass caraffe, but did't find just the right thing. I ordered the Cuisinart and am very pleased. The design is very stylish. The caraffe has a nice solid feel. The coffee, even on the medium setting, comes out very hot. I am very pleased with this Cuisinart--highly reccommend it.
