Others say...
"Why did it take so long?" The idea behind these measuring cups is so perfect that one has to wonder why it took so long for someone to come up with it. Buy one (or the set of 3) and you'll laugh at conventional liquid measuring cups as hopelessly old-fashioned. The largest size eliminates the need to fill multiple times for quantities larger than 2 cups. Smaller size makes it easy to accurately measure fractions of a cup. "Good for measuring liquids, but tough to clean" I really like being able to pour liquids and measure from the top view. However, when I cleaned the cups with an oxo brush, it scratched the insides of the cup. "love them" these are great measuring cups, I really like how they angle and you can read the measurement from the inside. "Oxo Good Grips Measuring Cups" I have purchased this set for the second time! A great set to have! My husband even got a set for his own use in his garage! I would recommend this set to anyone! "You gotta love these!" Love it, love it, love it. Now I have the perfect measuring cups for liquids. No longer do I have to hold the cup at eye level while I'm trying to pour out of a gallon jug. I can sit the cup on the counter and pour and see exactly how much I've got. Ingenius!

Cooking.com offers this stuff with condition New, new for:
What our customer's say! "Toxic Plastic", While I loved this product I have since given it away to someone who didn't really care about the BPA, etc. that is in it. I guess it is a personal choice even given the information on the news today. I wrote to OXO and this is their reply regarding the materials in the meausing cup: The materials are as follows PC (cup) Santoprene (handle) The Angled Measuring Cups have BPA. However, the amount of Bisphenol A present in the Angled Measuring Cups is less than half of the allowable limit by the European standard. I know that tomatoes and other acidic materials cause these chemicals to leach even faster into your foods once they come into contact with BPA. Personally I would rather use glass. Maybe OXO can come up with a better/revised product. "Great ", I bought these for my grandmother for Christmas. She asked for measureing cups with big lettering so she can see them. It is wonderful. "Great timesaver.", These measuring cups, while only a subtle improvement over others, will save you time and aggrivation. The vertically-readable scales allow you to quickly and precisely measure just the right amount of whatever liquid your recipe calls for. And you will be able to do it without bending over to see the marks, contourting yourself to simultaneously pour and view, or time-wasting trial and error. About the only negative I can say is that at least one of these cups has begun scuffing off the scale which over time could comprimise accuracy. As of now this has not been a real problem, though. Buy these measuring cups and throw everything else away, you'll be glad you did. "PERFECT-- no reason for complaints!", I've owned these cups for well over five years, and LOVE them! In fact, I get upset when they both happen to be dirty and I need one. LOL They're VERY easy to read, well-marked, and dishwasher-safe! I have no idea what another's review about not being "sturdy" refers to . . . yes, they are plastic, but completely capable of doing their job. They are NOT flimsy at all. Also, I am unsure why someone cleaned them with a brush (which they complained scratched the cups) because they go in and out of the dishwasher with no problems. Like I said, I have had them over five years, and there is NO sign of deterioration in any way. Nothing is coming off, none of the markings are even fading. The only thing that comes off is the black handle grip, which you may take off for more thorough cleaning (depending upon what you have been doing with your cup, haha), and it slips right back on, tightly and completely. My ex-mother-in-law even fell in love with them during a visit, so I had to get them for her, too. I have even put hot liquids in there, with concern they might melt, but (again) they are not flimsy plastic cups. They are thick and sturdy, and have had no problems with hot liquids. I will also add, though, that liquids don't stay too long in a measuring cup once they are measured out, so that could be what helps. :) Use common sense. You know you are buying plastic, so just be wise about how you use it, as you would any plastic item you own. I would say that metal may be a better fit for SOME cooks, but then you don't have the additional bonus of seeing THROUGH the cup, as this one offers! You will NOT be disappointed if you buy these. I love ALL of my OXO products! "Great idea, not too sturdy", I love the angle on this measuring cup! Being over 6ft tall it makes it a whole lot easier to stand and measure rather than hunch over. HOWEVER, the product says it's dishwasher safe and durable but after only 8 months of use and NO dishwasher use, there's a crack in the bottom that seeps out liquids slowly. I am searching for a measuring cup with the same angled design made in another material, one that will last a few years at least! Until then I will replace mine with another OXO because it makes measuring liquids so amazingly simple! ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Reinventing the measuring cup", I have arthritis in my knees, and find it difficult to continually stoop over to read the measurements on liquid measuring cups. No more! Oxo Angled Measuring Cups features easy-to-read measurements (the cups also feature metric equivalents) that can be viewed from above. This set of three measuring cups (1, 2, and 4 cups) is an excellent value and makes a thoughtful housewarming / wedding present (but be sure to buy a set for yourself as well). It takes a little practice to pour and read accordingly, but once you have the hang of it, you'll never go back to old-fashioned measuring cups that require stooping and bending. "It's okay - except for the handles", I love viewing the measuring marks from the top rather than the side of the cup - however, the handles are too long. On all but the largest model (the 4-cup size), the handle touches the countertop and may even be a tad bit longer than the cup - causing it to tilt just enough that measurements are off. I get around this problem by placing the cup on top of a thick cutting board with the handle hanging over the edge and not touching anything. I wish I didn't have to though. Also, as another reviewer noted, they don't stack very well. Both of these problems could be solved by making them handle-less as was done on the tiny 2 ounce model. I am glad that someone else said that they could handle boiling water. I have been hanging on to my old glass Pyrex cups for use with very hot liquids - such as boiling water used in making Jell-O. I had assumed they'd crack or become crazed/crackled if used with boiling water. Thanks. "Great Measuring Cups, Great Value!", ***** I love these measuring cups because I can see exactly how much I'm putting into them from above instead of peering and squinting at the measuring lines from the side. They are priced well, and very useful. I haven't had any problems with them. My husband recently began to use one of them for measuring his boiling water for oatmeal in one, and so far it has held up great. However, I like them so much, that I'm worried that the markings on the inside may wear off in time, so I'm getting him a special glass one of his own. I would therefore recommend them ideally for dry ingredients or for cool wet ingredients. They are handy, easy to store (I can stack mine by staggering the handles) and easy to clean. The handles are made of rubber for easy gripping, very nice. I still have some of my old traditional measuring cups but I only use these. ***** "Great idea - needs a little better execution in design.", I really love OXO equipment and I've tried to replace most of my older kitchen gear with much of their stuff. These measuring cups are really nice. The vertical-read measure marks are both easy and much more natural than holding a gallon jug of milk above your head while you keep your eyes at counter level! I'm really surprised this hasn't been copied since this style has been out for a long time. The plastic is solid, and I've used boiling water in them without cracking. They have also been through the dishwasher with no noticeable changes. The handle is comfortable and keeps your hands from getting burned. The plastic is light enough that they aren't difficult to handle like some of my 4cup Pyrex ones. About the only drawbacks are that they don't stack the best and mixing in them isn't the easiest because of the design. You *can* stack the smaller size in the larger by rotating it a bit off axis of the one underneath so their handles don't match up. But doing that with same size ones isn't as easy. They do stack, but It's not the best. I give it a 4.5 on functionality and quality, saving the extra .5 because I think they can get them to stack better. I'm rounding up in this case because they are really nice. They are expensive, but I don't mind paying for quality when it's deserved. "These are awesome !!", Wow, why this was never thought of before is beyond me, even my husband said, now why didn't I think of that. What a smart idea/design!! They work great! The handle is very comfortable. I bought a set for my sister too, she loves them. I haven't had any problems with cracking. Oh and check out the OXO Good Grips 1061863 Mini Angled Measuring Cup 3-pack, these are so cool!! No complaints here!! ![]() |
