Others say...
"The Cadillac of irons" This is the best iron, light, doesn't drip all over the place and heats up quickly for those fast touch ups. Water resivoir is a tank that you remove to fill. You can use the iron without the tank to make pockets and sleeves easier. I am very happy with it. "i'd give it zero, if i could" i have a corded iron i hate, because it has one temperature--hot. but it still can't handle linen. i read the reviews on this item carefully. i would love to know what these people are ironing. i used this iron on a length of muslin. simple, 100% cotton cloth, light weight. the iron spent more time re-heating in the cradle than it did on the fabric. if i used the spray button too often, the iron dribbled, badly. the steam button produced nothing at all. i realized i was pressing so hard that my shoulder hurt. and i still had wrinkles. i finally used the despised corded iron. i intended to use this iron on my cutting board, which has a pressing cloth sized to it. it would have been perfect for ironing lengths of cloth for piecing and quilting--except that it can't handle muslin. a complete waste of money. "Cordless ironing... fantastic" First of all, why is it cordless and not wireless? Why do I have a cordless iron, wireless network, cordless phone, but also a wireless phone? Hmm. Anyway, after 20 years of corded ironing, this product is a treat. As other reviewers have said, the lack of cord makes a surprising improvement to the ironing experience. The "dock" is very nicely done; no more effort to use than simply putting the iron down, which is crucial because you do pretty much have to put the iron back in its house every time you would usually simply set a corded iron down to adjust whatever it is you're ironing. A hard-to-use dock would have made this thing useless, but in fact it's great. It's not *quite* as hot as my last iron (hence only 4 stars) but apart from that I've got no complaints. Does a great job... don't think I'll ever go back to corded/wired irons. "Maytag Cordless Iron" I love this iron. I never realized how confining the cord was. I can walk all around the ironing board to get at what I'm ironing. I though setting it back in the cradle while I moved the material around would be a hastle, but it's not. It's not much different than setting the iron on the ironing board. "The best iron!!" This iron seems to use just a little electricity to heat up fully within 5 or 6 seconds. It holds its heat for a long time, so if you iron one item and put it back on its base, it doesn't need to pull more energy to heat up again. Also, it's heavy enough for good ironing, yet it's so well-balanced that it doesn't feel heavy. I love the fact that it's cordless -- this makes ironing seem like half the chore it normally feels like, because I don't need to keep repositioning the cord. Also, it can be packed away into its case while it's still hot, so I can touch something up at the last minute before running out to work. I ironed some cotton knits without steam, something most irons can't do well -- this iron did a fantastic job. This means that I can do what the manual says -- remove the water tank so I can get the iron inside shirt cuffs, etc. -- something I haven't been able to do with a modern iron for decades. This iron is my dream iron, and I'm so glad that it was manufactured by a reputable company like Maytag, and that I found it on Amazon.com.

What our customer's say! "Good idea but in reality, useless", Purchased this iron about 9 months ago because, like most people, I was tired of dealing with the cord. I mainly iron dress shirts, polos and khaki pants, when I don't have time to go to the cleaners. This iron is very frustrating. On full heat, it doesn't get hot enough to iron out the wrinkles and constantly needs reheating. I felt like I spent more time with the iron on the base waiting for it to heat up than I did ironing. It doesn't get hot enough either. I found that I was pressing so hard to get the wrinkles out that I bent and buckled my ironing board. Still, the wrinkles were there. Terrible waste of money. "Lack of service from Maytag", The iron is great but the service is non-existant. The dial to set the temperature broke. The dial just fell off and without it in place you can't even turn it on. I've had it a couple of years but at that price it should have lasted longer than that. Maytag just said I'm sorry. We do not manufacture that as a seperate part. End of conversation. I certainly will not buy another Maytag. "Cordless Iron a beautiful thing", I recieved my Maytag MLI7000A Cordless Iron the other day. I got to use it a little in my sewing room. I quilt so I need a good iron. My son ironed 25 yards of fabric for me last night. The pieces varied in size. He sat the iron it in it's cradle when he was adjusting it on the ironing board and in between pieces. He never had to wait for it to heat back up, it was iron ready everytime he picked the iron up to use it. He was thrilled that he didn't have to fight with the cord and it was always hot. I will write another review after I've had it for a while, but right now I'm very impressed and happy with my choice. "TAKE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY", I just purchased my 2nd Maytag cordless iron at Amazon. Yes, the first one did not auto shut off after having it 18 months, but I did buy the extended warranty for $12.95 I sent back the malfunctioned iron and within 14 days I had a check for the full price!! I am not usually a buyer of extended warranties, but since this was a rather new product I did with the first one and this one too, just in case -- price is right. I love this iron. I no longer burn any clothes, the temp is great. Not having a cord in the way is the best -- would never go back to "the old fashion way" again. Only negative I have is that the reservoir for the steam water is not very large. "great product", Wasn't sure how this would work, but I took a chance anyway. Glad I did. This works much better than I expected and is a breeze to use and a delight to work with. If you do a lot of ironing, i would recomend this product highly. ![]() Read this reviews before You buy... "Maytag cordless iron", I absolutely love this product. I think that it is by far the best iron that I have ever used in my lifetime. My hat is off to Maytag for this wonderful item. "BROKE AFTER 1 1/2 YEAR", We purchased this iron in May 2003, it is now Feb. 2005 and it is broken already. We called Maytag and they informed us that this is a man made product and is not perfect, they offered us nothing. We paid 157.94 for this iron. Our advice, DONT BUY IT!!! "Best iron I've ever used", I was the second oldest in a family of eight so Mom taught me to iron at an early age. I still iron all of my blouses and my husband's shirts, etc. This is the best iron I have ever used. I did not realize how much time I spent moving the cord out of the way. I've never had a problem with it staying hot or the steam not being there. The iron I was using was a Rowenta. I have not been sorry I switched. ![]() |
