"West Bend 6400 1-Quart Electric Tea Kettle, White" I owned this Tea Kettle brand before had it about 10-15 years but must now replace, some rust and some other foreign powdered material is coming out of the bottom of the kettle but did not hurt the workings of the kettle still works perfect but just was tired of the mess it would make from time to time, but all in all this is a fantastic kettle for the price which I might add was a better price from Amazon than the manufacture price with the old one 10-15 years ago which back then I paid 50 dollars for. This kettle boils super fast like in a minutes time, I don't boil other liquids in it as it states you can, just plain water for my Tea; diehard Tea drinker here!! so you can imagine this kettle is going all the time and gets plenty of use and stands up to all this for this many years my only hope this new one does the same which I believe it will as it is the very same exact kettle I had before which I just replaced. So if you want a great long lasting kettle for a great low price buy this one and you will be glad you did. I have also had the canadian version of this same make and model with the same results lasted many years, I always return to this same brand and model with great service everytime. This kettle also looks good. Well here's hoping you get the best long lasting service I did with mine. And I don't really know why others have rated this kettle much lower, as I say it has been a great Kettle to me. I rate this Kettle a big emphatic! 5 Stars! "West Bend Tea Kettle" Luv, luv, luv my West Bend Tea Kettle. I have had several other brands. This is the best for performance and appearance. "NOT made in USA as advertised" Just got this kettle--boils water just fine. But not made in the USA as advertised here. Made in China. "on/off" It's a great little kettle, but unfortunately there is no on/off switch. It boils quickly and never bubbles over, but I don't like having to unplug it to turn it off. "Excellent Value" I love my electric teakettle! I use it all the time. This kettle is great quality for the price, and it heats water FAST. It is also very well insulated and has not affected any surface I put it on. The whistle is very convenient, and it will automatically shut off if the water has boiled dry. Great item, especially for a dorm room! Recommended.

What our customer's say! "Almost Good", I was looking for something that would keep water near boiling temperatures for several hours. This wasn't it. Maybe a "hot pot" is what I want. This kettle will rapidly boil a pot of water and keep it at a rolling boil until all the water boils out in about one hour. There is built in protection that turns the pot off when all the water is gone. If the pot is filled completely, it initially splashes some of the boiling water out the spout. Also has a rather short cord. Simple design, so there isn't much that can break. The kettle uses 1000 watts which is standard for these, but seems like a lot when I consider my microwave also uses 1000 watts. Makes lots of steam. Very impressive but not what I wanted. "An unwatched pot...", I purchased this kettle because I'm impatient. My original electric kettle was in good working order, but it took such a long time to reach a boil that I all-too-frequently wandered away and forgot it until it had boiled nearly dry! I decided that a whistling kettle was the answer. What I didn't expect, though, is how very long it takes the West Bend kettle to boil two cups of water. I know that such things are relative, but I started the kettle, walked the length of my house, connected to Amazon, and wrote (NOW) this review before hearing the kettle whistle -- the "now" indicates the sound of the whistle. Claims that this kettle is "faster than a microwave" are false -- my 1K Watt microwave boils two cups of water in 90 seconds. The West Bend kettle seems well-built and does what it claims to do: It boils up to a quart of water and it whistles. "Takes longer to heat less water", I had an electric tea kettle for 10 years that I loved. This kettle has two things that I really like that it didn't have: a whistle and it stays cool to the touch. However, it takes longer to heat than the one I previously had and yet holds less water. I am a little disappointed in its efficiency. "only electric teapot with whistle I could find", This was a replacement for the one I had for 5 years. The old one started to leak. This is just as fast and I love that it whistles. When I'm busy in another part of the house, this feature can be very important. Great for an easily distracted person. The delivery was quick BUT the outside box came with a very large hole from shipping which extended to the inner box, which also had a hole. I was pleased that it didn't have any effect on the product itself because I was in the need of a cup of tea by then. "Great for a while", I've had two of these kettles and like the design, the whistle, and the quickness with which it heats. However, both kettles eventually began to leak after a couple of years. If you buy one, I suggest making sure you pour out any remaining water once you've used it, and don't accidentally overfill. I am not sure which caused my leakage, but I'm buying another electric kettle of a different brand this time. Still for the price, I've been very happy with this kettle. It's lasted a long time, and I can afford to replace it when it's worn out. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Best Tea Kettle On the Market", I recently purchased this tea kettle from Amazon.com. It is wonderful! The outside of the kettle stays cool while the water inside boils. Heating the water to boiling only takes a few minutes which is nice when you have a hungry preschooler waiting for their Ramen noodles. I live in Wisconsin so I am partial to purchasing Westbend products as they are known for their reputation/durablity over the long haul. "Automatic shutoff definition unclear", What was appreciated about my previous electric teakettle was that the automatic shut-off shut off when the water reached the proper temperature. This tea kettle only shuts off when the water has totally evaporated. "Broke mine and I'm going crazy without it", I bought one of these when I lived in the dorms in college. It came in handly and since I have moved to a house all my roommates love it. One of them managed to melt the cord on the toaster oven and life hasn't been the same in our kitchen since. Works great and is so convenient and easy to use. ![]() |
