Others say...
"A perfect pour." Plenty of space for a few mugs of tea -- enough for my household of three to get enough to satisfy with only one pot. Well-balanced, and easy to employ for the "perfect," dripless pour. This is a teapot disinclined to dribble down the lip onto your counter after pouring, a thing I thoroughly appreciate. There is a catch in the lid to keep it from falling off and it's not too heavy to pour one-handed, even though it's on the larger side in the world of teapots. I got a bodum yoyo tea strainer to go in it and it works just fine. A teaball on a chain might be better, though. And really -- would it work better if it was made in England? It matches all the other Blue Willow Churchill pieces I have and that's good enough for me. "My wife is very happy with it ..." which is all I required from this product. "GREAT Utility Tea Pots! Good Balance - Stays Hot!" . First, to address some of the pixilated reviews below: I am unaware of any misrepresentations made by Churchill regarding the origin of manufacture. Amazon does not claim these are Made in England. These are sturdy, utility, work horse teapots. They are among the least expensive, decent, everyday knock-around teapots on the market. Anyone expecting something grand from the Gilded Age delivered to his or her door, including UPS shipping fees for less than $30.00 is disturbed. Churchill and similar manufacturers with the same physical design are my everyday teapots. I have collected seven of various patterns over the years as utility teapots, and I love them! The lids are interchangeable if one dies. The crocheted cozies I made for them are interchangeable as well. With clean pots constantly in rotation, one can retain the cold remains from breakfast's keemun for later use over ice, while preparing a mid morning green tea in a fresh pot. If I do not get wild with the lid, and inadvertently fling it somewhere, these pots will last many years. Churchill teapots are durable, high-fired earthenware. They lack the ultimate heat retentive capability and unsurpassed elegance of bone china teapots; they are also only 10% of their cost. These two issues are partially overcome with pretty porcelain teacups. Churchill tea pots are wonderful, sturdy, utility stalwarts that have better heat-retentive qualities than a "Brown Betty" as well as superior balance. The design's spout is also reasonably drip-free. The earthenware is not as inclined to craze as bone china. I can preheat a pot with sitting boiling water without fear of thermal shock. They are dishwasher safe, as well as microwave safe, should anyone be inclined to blaspheme their noble brew by nuking it. The 32-ounce capacity is the five and a half mark on a Russell Hobbs electric kettle. The opening accepts a 72 mm tea strainer. The 3" stainless mesh tea strainer basket with 3" outside diameter is a fraction too small for the teapot's opening. Other than green or white teas, I dispense with the strainer and measure from 5 grams to 8 grams of black China or India teas, which are then allowed to settle. The spout's size and shape permits easy removal of whole tea leaves, simply by rinsing with water. It never becomes necessary to poke at the spout with skewers. A footed lip on the lid helps to secure it when pouring. The balance bears mentioning again as it is so annoying to deal with a poorly balanced teapot all day. Churchill teapot's design (not just the pattern), has been around for many years it has been my preference for an everyday pot for over 25 years. "Wessex and Malaysian" I purchased a 45 piece set of, supposedly Churchill, Blue Willow dishes in addition to a matching teapot and 9 inch bowl. Bowl stamped Wessex, made in England and teapot Wessex, made in Malaysia. None is Churchill as advertised. I can't wait to get the dish set to see where they were made. Whadayathink? Antarctica? Since the quality/price was right for the parts that I have recieved, and I'm not all that picky, I'm not complaining yet, just passing along the information. "Buyer beware!!! A big disappointment and a lot of anguish" Made in England. So it says. What I received in the box today is not a Churchill Chealsea Tea Pot but some teapot made in Malaysia. What is up with that? I suppose I have to go through the proper channels to get this straightened out. Be prepared to spend a lot of time dealing with this matter. There is no savings at all, when one counts precious time and emotional upheaval. A really big disappointment. Maybe this was an April Fool's joke, not a pre-Christmas present.

What our customer's say! "Successful Gift-giving", Churchill China Chelsea Blue Willow Tea Pot My sister had helped me tremendously and I wanted to gift her a very special tea pot. The Churchill China Chelsea Blue Willow Tea Pot pleased her so much and is beautiful as well as functional. She has displayed it prominently in her China hutch. All I have to say is, if you need a gift but your budget is small, Amazon will have something that is perfect for your gift-giving. "wobble wobble", The pot I got is very wobbly. The bottom is not flat and moves a quarter inch from side to side. HOW DID THIS PASS QUALITY INSPECTION? Made in Columbia and NOT the one on the stock photo. The user photo is accurate. "Nice teapot, photo a bit misleading", For all who want a teapot that is made in England...this is not it. In fact, Churchill products, with a few exceptions, have not been made in England for a while. Regardless, this teapot is well made. I like the "bones" of the teapot, the sculptured shape, the handle and lid design, etc. Actually, some of the older "made in England" types have a rather clunky shape in comparison, IMO. It is well made and sturdy. A practical item as well as a decorative one. You won't feel badly using this for fear of breaking one of the "last" England produced pots...these are still in production and can always be replaced! One disappointment to me was the design imprinted on the pot. Someone casually mentioned this in another review, but just to repeat: The design does not go up to the top, as illustrated here. Rather, the design is actually different and stops almost an inch below the top rim. The other reviewer did not see this as a problem and I didn't think it would alter the appearance much, but to me it makes the white background stand out more and does not *quite* blend with my other Blue Willow items. A small thing, but worth mentioning, I think, especially if others are picky like me. Somehow this little quirk makes the design look more decal-like. But, it is still a good looking teapot...just would look much, MUCH better with the design extending to the top. I have submitted a photo to illustrate this. The teapot is reversed, but the image is the same on both sides. Other than this, I really like the pot. I must give it 4 stars only, however, because of the deceptive illustration. "Classic Teapot", This tea pot is a tea lover's must have. A true classic and this sellor ships quickly. I got mine in less than 3 days in the mail. "Beautiful and perfect", Beautiful -- pattern is sharp, consistent in color. Perfect construction -- no gaps in glaze, especially where you might expect these gaps, such as where spout and handle are attached to body of teapot. Size is substantial for a teapot -- 6 inches in diameter, 5-1/2 inches from bottom to rim, 6-1/2 inches from bottom to top of lid. Exactly as pictured, except for one conditions which does NOT detract from beauty or value: pattern ends about 1/2 inch from top of pot, NOT at top of pot, as pictured. However, pattern is complete and in proportion, so it does not abruptly end. This is now the centerpiece of my Blue Willow collection. I will use it every day, for coffee as well as for tea. If you are a fan of Blue Willow, this is one item that you must have in your collection. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Teapot Review", The most important quality of this tea pot is that it pours well; it does not drip nor does the water overflow the spout when filling the pot. I am very happy with my purchase. "Great service!!!", I ordered the teapost and received it within two weeks, but was disapointed when I noticed it was chipped. I notified amazon. UPS picked up the package the next day and the day after I received the new teapot. It couldn't have been easier or faster. Thank you, ![]() |
