"The only one without a whistle"
It's hard for me to imagine why a person who wants a whistle would buy this one, since it is pretty much the only kettle on the planet that doesn't have one. Which is precisely why I bought it.

Doesn't drip, holds plenty of water for me. My only slight problems are the "flimsy" feel of the bottom -- and the many little grooves and such that are down there. I had a kettle (also Copco) that was completely smooth on the bottom with no seams (like a big cup) -- this made it a lot easier to dry. With this one, I have to just put it upside down in the dish rack for a while. If I think of it, I will empty the water, remove the top, and leave it on the still-warm burner so that the rest of the water will evaporate more quickly. When I first got it, I kind of messed up and left it on a very low burner (empty) to dry it, but I forgot it for a couple hours. Oops. Well, the bottom is still solid but it's pretty tarnished and I can tell that if I do this again, it's bye-bye kettle.

The shiny exterior that is so blindingly lovely when you first open it can be maintained with a little Bar Keepers Friend. But I don't do this very often.

The handle is fine -- I like that it's stable, and it doesn't get hot. If the kettle is hot, I still use a potholder or dishtowel to remove the lid because the knob is just too close to the metal, and you have sort of pry the top off, so it's likely that you'll burn yourself if you're not careful.

Made in China.

"No Whistle and No Drips"
I just got it and I really like this kettle. It looks good and it works just fine. I did not want a whistle and like someone else said, you can hear when the water starts to boil and then it quiets down. There is no dripping either. The lid fits really tight and it has a nice wide bottom. It's larger than I expected and that mirror shine finish is gorgeous. I recommend that you empty and dry thoroughly if you're not using it instead of letting water just sit in it overnight so it will last longer and not get that crusty metallic taste inside; just a suggestion.

"Not really 2.5 quarts"
This kettle is well made, extremely well finished, pours easily as it is well balanced and with the very wide base heated rapidly. It should get a five star rating except for one issue. There is a Fill line about 1/4 inch below the opening of the spout. Obviously if your water is at a roiling boil and the water level is higher than that mark, the chance of bubbling out the spout increases as does the possibility of a burn from scalding water. However if you only fill it to the Fill line, the capacity of this seemingly very large kettle is only 1.5 quarts. I was sufficiently surprised that I filled and poured the water into a quart measuring cup three times to make sure of my accuracy. It was a bit of a disappointment. If you need a tea kettle of a real 2.5 quart capacity this one isn't for you.

"Wonderful!"
Okay, I confess that I just got my new kettle and have only used it a couple of times but I love it already. On my gas stove it heats quickly, no mind-blowing whistle and it pours without dribbling all over the counter. Oh, and it's so pretty! The handle does a good job of insulating from heat but it gives just a little with weight of the water. I think someone with less physical strength in their hands might have a difficult time but that would be easily solved by not filling the kettle quite so full. It's perfect for me.

"Needs a whistle"
This is a beautiful tea kettle and heats up quickly. The only downside
is that it doesn't whistle. For some it's probably not a problem but
for me it would be a great reminder that the water is ready!

What our customer's say!

"avoid it", I bought this two months ago, and after one month I happened to look inside when I filled it and saw that the water was full of flakes; the bottom was falling apart. needless to say i tossed it in the trash, and now i'm even more annoyed to see that though I paid 35 dollars for it is now 14.99.
not worth it either way.

"Pricey but nice", This is a good product although it would sell better if a bit cheaper when you figure in shipping. It's nothing out of the ordinary and a little hard to keep clean, like any other tea kettle, but I would recommend it to others.

"Fabulous", I love this tea kettle. It looks great to start with and is nice and quiet, but you can still tell the water is ready. I think it is wonderful.

"WILL RUST & ONLY 1.4 QT!", WARNING: THIS IS ONLY 1.4 QT (not 2.5 QT as both Copco & Amazon claim).
THIS IS NOT 18-10 Stainless Steel as Amazon claims. (even Copco admits in the
tiny-font "Kettle Care" insert that RUST will occur if ANY water remains).

Additionally, the phenolic handle can get VERY HOT (even Copco admits in the
tiny-font "Kettle Care" insert: "ALWAYS USE A POTHOLDER"). And, the handle
support/frame is cast zinc (again, NOT Stainless Steel) and subsequently will
corrode and/or oxidize to a dull/white appearance.

So, if you ONLY need a classical decorative item, this may be just fine at 15 bucks.
(the capacity of 1.4 QT is at Copco's own marked "MAX FILL" line, which, again,
Copco states in the tiny-font "Kettle Care" insert and is printed on the kettle front)
WARNING: at the erroneously claimed 2.5 QT capacity, this kettle will spray
boiling-hot water upon a contiguous area ~12" from the spout tip!

(Amazon really needs to 'clean-up' their numerous & growing product description
errors! As the world's leading online purchasing site, that should be Goal #1; in
a completely digital shop, that's our primary source of info!) (As for the vendor
Copco, don't know why they can't simply tell the truth!?!)

Finally, to quote Seinfeld, "What's the deal with all these teapots, anyhow?!"
(seriously, we've been looking for YEARS for a quality thang-to-boil-water-in-with-
a-spout-and-lid)

"Max fill is about 1/2 below spout!", You can only fill this tea kettle to the Max fill line which is 1/2" below the spout. So you are just filling the first third of the kettle.
If you look at the picture of the kettle you can see the imprint on the kettle that shows the Max Fill Line. There are times when you want to fill the tea kettle almost to the top for more water -you can't do that with this kettle.

"A little disappointed", Pros: appearance, lightweight, no whistle
Cons: doesn't work real well on smooth top ranges, heat setting between medium and low is slow coming to a boil, stationery handle

I would recommend for those not cooking on a smooth top electric range

"Well worth the money", An excellent teakettle for the money. Holds 2.5 quarts, and has an opening large enough to get your hand into to dry and wash the inside. Directions do state not to allow water to stand in it for prolonged periods because it will rust over time. This isn't a problem with the large opening. This one doesn't have a whistle - and the handle stays cool to the touch. Easy to fill, easy to clean, and easy on the wallet. Good value overall.

"Large, well made - EXCELLENT tea kettle", OOH, very very happy with this purchase. Larger than I expected and happy with that. Water is boiled in about 4-5 minutes...no whistle (didn't want one!). Reflective, solid. Handle does not move - or get hot / love that. Be careful taking lid off once water is boiled of course - steam is VERY HOT of course! Looks stunning on my range. Covers the largest burner easily. Easy to get tea bags in and out / I like to put them in for the boil. Also easy to get hand in to clean. Love the shine. So pleased. Much better than a cheapie - no screaming whistles for me please...I'm at peace in my quiet solitude. Lovely kettle.

(when you get it, don't freak out because you don't immediately see the lid - its IN the kettle!)

"Great classic teakettle", I have had this teakettle for about 3 years, and it has been great! I like that there isn't a whistle, it pours really nicely, has never dripped on me, and has a wide enough opening to get water in and a sponge when you want to clean it.

I'm now replacing it b/c I am a lazy kettle owner and have left water in it constantly so it's getting rusty. It also sits out on my stove and grease and other stove ookiness has gotten all over the outside and it's past the point of cleaning. That's my own fault though, like I said I'm a lazy kettle owner and didn't clean it like I should have.

Great kettle.

"Ooooo - shiny!", This is actually a great tea kettle! I bought it to replace a Pfaltzgraff that had basically rusted inside - who knew you shouldn't leave water in a kettle :)

This does not have a kettle, which for me personally was great. I find kettles with whistles annoying. Oddly enough, you can actually "hear" when your water is boiling. When you turn the fire on under it, it makes a slight bubbling sound - then goes quiet once it reaches a boil.

It's easy to keep it clean; pours very smoothly compared to my old kettle; and is a perfect size for a few cups of tea. My only peeve initially is that the handle does not rotate - it's a fixed handle, but I got over it quickly enough.
