Others say...
"Great turner." I have had these before and tried the OXO silicon one and did not like it. The orange color is just fun. I have never had issue with any of them ever warping like some reviews have mentioned. Great item, I will have these in my kitchen always. "Lovely!" Great little spatula, easy to use and it's a great size for flipping large pancakes and omelets! So much more functional than normal spatulas. My boyfriend has one too and we use ours all the time! "Love Mine" I love mine. Although flexible, they are super sturdy. They work great with pancakes, eggs, etc and wash wonderfully! I am very pleased with this turner! "Read the Reviews and Bought This!" I've been very happy with this turner. I use it with the Lodge Cast Iron Griddle and get perfect pancakes everytime! I also like that this turner is dishwasher safe on the top shelf. Couldn't be happier! "Flipping Great Turner!" Sadly, I needed to replace a very flexible spring steel turner that had age-hardened and cracked. I use cast iron, while others in the family use non-stick, and I needed two different turners. I looked for them at various places, and was very disapointed at the selection: all were too thick and not at all flexible. Amazon to the rescue! They had the OXO Good Grips listed as a "large flexible turner". I bought the stainless version for the cast iron pans, and a silicone over stainless version for the non stick. The stainless version is fantastic. First, it is large enough to flip large pancakes without tearing them. Second, it is very thin and springy. Third, the blade is very genty curved in a manner that causes it to be stiff when it is needed. Oh, and fourth, the handle, as on all OXO products, is, well, just right. How do they do that? When I first held it in my hand, I thought the blade would be too large for flipping a fried egg. Not so. It took only a minute or so to get the hang of using it, and I have not broken a yolk since beginning its use. It may be hard to find this model, but I highly recommend holding out for it if you use cast-iron pans or non-treated steel cookie sheets. There simply isn't a better, thinner, or more flexible turner that I have found, and I looked a lot of places. OXO Good Grips Large Silicone Flexible Turner The second model, the silicone covered stainless turner, is also great if you have non-stick. It is more "mid-size" than the larger model I just described. The entire blade is covered in a smoky-colored silicone sleeve that has nicely tapered edges and is very strongly attached. I find the nylon versions too thick, not flexible enough, and hard enough that they can damage the coating on non-stick pans (even high qualtiy ones) if the nylon blade approaches the pan at the wrong "scraping" angle. So give yourself or someone you know who cooks a wonderful and inexpensive present they are certain to use and depend upon for years. Buy one of these turners!

What our customer's say! "nylon spatula", it's a little flimsy at the p/u end making heavier things a little bit of a hassle. But it doesn't scratch the no stick pan! "I Turned Blue!", Gotcha!! This is a great product. Heat resistant and slim enough to slip under an egg, (flipping the egg is yet another matter). Flexible and the handle fits nicely in the palm. This is my second Oxo utensil purchase; would definately purchase additional Oxo products. "The coolest tool in the kitchen!", I use this turner daily, sometimes 2-3 times. I have other turners, but find myself just washing and using this one over and over. When the hubby cooks, it's the first thing he reaches for. Safe to say, I think I should order another! Now, I know there are a ton of positive ratings, but I wanted to address the negatives. First off, it's not made of cast iron. It's nylon. It has it's limits. Don't expect it will take the place of your BBQ tools. Don't leave it sitting in a pan. Don't hold it over an open flame. It'll be ugly if you do. This is a turner, and a very good one at that. I have also used it to fry ground beef. It's sharp side makes it perfect for "chopping" the meat into smaller pieces while cooking. I also use it to cut into casseroles and serve them up. I cook scrambled eggs with it, turn pancakes and tortillas and the pretty green color just makes me happy. I'd say it's well worth $5. "An average turner", I liked everything about this turner except the handle melts easily if it touches a hot pan rim. "the search goes on", i was so excited but ended up being disappointed. after only a couple weeks of use, the spatula curls up. i know none of the plastic is melting into my food, but it's irritating to have it curl when it should be straight. It also would be nice if the spatula was just slightly thicker. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Add flair to your kitchen", This product replaced my favorite $.99 spatula (it had a little bbq accident). I generally feel that all spatulas are basically created equal when it comes to expensive vs. cheap. This one was $4.99 and has performed much better than manyh of the more expensive ones that I have owned. The spatuala is very sturdy and lifts eggs nicely without worrying about your good pans. Its good to remember that your turners are only as good as the pans you are cooking in. I'd give this a 5, but I was hoping for a bit more bend in the turner. I would purchase this one again. "NYLON FLEXILBE TURNER", THIS ITEM DIDN'T WASH WELL IN THE DISHWAHSER. THE NYLON PART WARPED FROM THE WASH CYCLE. "An ordinary spatula", This is just your run of the mill, ordinary spatula. I bought it to match my kitchen as it was red (however, this "red" is a little off from the candy apple red I was going for), and because all my spatulas keep warping. It does the job, no complaints there, but is not especially high quality or good looking. "Why did I wait so long to find this?", Anyone who reads my reviews knows I love and own many OXO products. When my "turner" broke (I actually call them spatulas, although I also call those flimsy things that get the cake batter off the sides of bowls spatulas, too, so . . . I could be wrong), I came online and looked immediately to OXO for a new one. The green naturally caught my eye, being my favorite color. This comes in many other colors, though, so pick your own to match your home. I bought it, and I LOVE IT! Not much more to say, really. It withstands very hot temperatures, so you don't need to worry AT ALL about it melting. You can even rest it on the side of a hot pan, while cooking, and it will be totally fine (just don't let the handle rest on or near your burner, of course). Dishwasher-safe and very sturdy. BUY IT and LOVE IT! My only suggestion to OXO is to put out a few different sizes of this. I'd love to see one wider than this, and then another size even wider and perhaps a little deeper -- for larger things like quesadillas and BIG pancakes (a treat around here). "Great Spatula", The spatula is great, nothing sticks to it. Works great with the cast iron skillet from Lodge Logic that i got from here. ![]() |
