"Indispensable kitchen helper" It's amazing what a simple kitchen gadget can do when it comes to simplifying daily domestic bliss, I no longer have to play chasing games with the food escaping flat wooden spoons as if in a roller rink. This is my second pair of kitchen tongs, first being made of cheap metal with scratchy parts that I don't use ever unless this one is dirty or missing and I am definitely planning on getting more, the 12 inch looks great for when I'm digging in big pots and pans since this is more of a stove top tong for use in shallower cooking vessels. These have a little rubber loop at the end that opens the tongs for use when pushed and keeps them closed when pulled; I can't even admit how many times I was so wrapped up in my cooking with all my hands busy that I pulled that thing with my teeth, and still got it closed without hurting myself, now I don't recommend doing that but it just shows how in sync this tool becomes with the user. Oxo is a pretty reliable brand; these are truly wonderful and one can't beat the price! I've been using this pair since April and they are always helping me out, whether its turning over meats and anything I'm grilling or tossing stuff in marinades, lifting bacon or anything cooking in hot liquid or oil safely and best of all the plastic tips are large and rounded and don't scratch the pans I care about. These are pretty agile as well; the tips allow for me to reach anything I need precisely without damaging the food and the 9 inch length makes them feel like an extension of my own hand and not a cumbersome tool. These are fantastic and everyone can find uses in their kitchen and home with these. - Kasia S. "Most useful item in the kitchen" Plain in simple- i use it daily- and i love it. Tongs ROCK and these are exceptionally well made. "Love These Oxo Tongs" I needed tongs to use with my non-stick pans and these are great. I use them all the time, like the nonstick and the locking feature. You generally can't go wrong with OXO products. "Great tongs!" Love these tongs! Easy to use, doesn't scratch nonstick surfaces, exactly what I needed. "A good pair of tongs that don't scratch my cookware" This pair of tongs has a good grip, and good nylon tips. My only gripe is that the arms of the tongs could be a bit easier to clean, but it is a good utensil over all.

What our customer's say! "I've Become a Fan", I'm quickly becoming a huge fan of Oxo products, and I'm starting to wish I were starting from a blank slate. Unfortunately, I have a lot of old, useless gadgets that will have to wear out before I replace them with Oxo. This set of tongs makes so much sense. The plastic areas both keep the tongs cool while you hold them and protects non-stick pans. "great tool ", Oxo Good Grips 9-Inch Locking Tongs with Nylon Heads The tongs are really sturdy and the nylon heads don't destroy your teflon as metal ones tend to. They also stand up to a lot of heat so they don't melt. "Perfect for non-stick pans", This kitchen tool is what I really needed for the few non-stick pans that I use (other than my cast iron skillets). The nylon scalloped tips are perfect for all the items that I cook in teflon or silverstone pans. Other reviewers complain that nylon cannot take high heat, but then, most non-stick pans can't either. Silicone tips could take the heat, but they are not nearly as sturdy. I would find it very difficult to pick up large items with something as soft as silicone. What I like best about this too is the fact that it locks closed, which makes it easy to store in a drawer. I have to keep most of my other tongs hanging half out of a utensil crock. "Super tongs!", These OXO tongs have a great grip (maybe it's the nylon tips). The length is perfect. I like them far better than a pair of 12" metal All Clad tongs that I own. "Good, but. . .", These tongs work pretty well. I liked the nylon tips for use on nonstick cookware. However, I think the nylon tips are too thick, making it hard to pick up pork chops or anything else using just the tongs in one hand. This is a little disappointing. I think I will try the thinner tipped silicone tongs next. Otherwise I've been very impressed with OXO products. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "No dishwasher safe?", These are great tongs. The other zillion people rating them should have you convinced of that by now. Even though I'm very satisfied I'm going to concentrate on my complaints instead of their virtues. Cons(-) - hard to get clean without a dishwasher. The arms are not closed but curve under towards the food side, making a long skinny cave for stuff to hide. - The rubber grips on the arms are far from heat safe. I'm not sure how they ever got exposed to direct heat there without my hand burning up first, but they did. Neutral - In retrospect a longer pair would make some jobs easier. Nine inches is really only right for the stove top. Pros (+) - Many, see the other reviews. - Notably the locking design is vastly superior to the foolish old ring design, what were we ever thinking? Verdict: buy 'em. "Great Tongs! ", This is "The Tong" in our kitchen. I mean, we have others but this is always the first one that my wife and me grabs first when cooking. We use it for frying as well as to turn barbecues. Bought 4 years ago and still working fine. Pros: -Soft tip. It will not scratch your pans. -Locking. You pull the rubber tip to lock it and push to unlock. This preserve some valuable space inside the kitchen drawers. -Rubberized grip to prevent slipping. Cons: -The soft tip is not completely heat proof. It will burn if you accidentally lay it too close to the fire. It will melt if you fry at very high heat. "Kitchen essential", I would have five of these in my kitchen if I could, I'm always finding a use for them. I also love to give them as wedding gifts because they are so useful and not many people have them. Recently the husband of a couple I gave them to thanked and told me he uses them all the time! I'm pretty sure that Cook's Illustrated highly recommended Oxo Good Grips tongs - I certainly love them. "Great kitchen tool", I use this quite often with my cooking. Great for many uses; turning meat, veggies as they brown, lifting out of pan to serve, barbecuing, etc. It protects my nonstick pans from being scratched. Quite simply, I love these tongs! The 12-inch length is better than the 8-inch too. "great size tongs", Nice grip, nice size. Great for tossing instead of using those huge bbq size tongs. Also stores nicely in kitchen drawer full of "stuff". Locking works well too. |
