"farberware electric percolator" I have owned several Farberware stainless steel percolators. They are beautiful and make delicious coffee but the thermostat wears out in as little as 8 months. The longest I have had one last is 16 months. I just can't afford them any more. The one exception is a little four cupper that I bought at an estate sale used. I suspect that it is one of the old ones that was truly a Farberware. The Farberware name was purchased by Salton years ago. What burns me the most is that you can't buy replacement thermostats. I suspect that this is by design. I have a Presto pot which is equally good looking and makes equally good coffee. It came with a two year warranty and is still going strong after 10 years. The only drawback is that the last half-cup has dregs but we hav learned to be careful when the pot nears empty. "Not like they used to be?" Apparently, from reading the reviews, the Farberwares aren't made like they used to be. I have a bunch of the originals and the only problem they ever had was a loose handle. They do make reliable excellent coffee. So keep your eyes open for an old one. "Percolator" Great coffee maker. Better than the last 4 Bunns I've owned (3 recalled). And it is a percolator. The old fashion stove top percolator is a rare find, so I tried this one and am sooo happy. "terrific coffeepot" I don't know why people switched to the drip style coffee makers, etc. Percolated coffee tastes so much better, and stays hot. I recommend buying some paper wrap-style filters (Melitta makes them). They are more expensive but work better than the disc style. I have zero grounds or sediment. This is a very simple process. Love this coffeepot. You can use any type of grind you want with the wrap filter. Medium to coarse is best. "Farberware Electric Percolator" This coffee pot is great, I purchased this for a gift for my son. He has used it everyday since he got it. It makes the best coffee, better than the drips.

What our customer's say! "Farberware electric percolator", This product has definitely lost its quality. We had a Farberware percolator that lasted 15 years. It finally quit and we bought a new one expecting the same quality. The new one lasted less than 18 months. Customer service department was not helpful. It makes great coffee. But considering its cost and short life span, it's not worth it. I will not buy a Farberware electric percolator again. "HOT COFFEE", Hello, wand a delicious, STEAMING cup of coffee? Buy this Farberware percolator, and you'll think you're at the local coffee cafe. Excellent, I looked very long because I do not like the current offering of coffee makers. This electric perk takes care of coffee for my family of 3. "Great while it lasts!", We purchased our most recent Farberware percolator to replace one that no longer perked long enough (it lasted 4 years). We have used this same model coffee maker for probably 30 years (since Corning quit making their porcelain model). We have owned @ 8 through the years. and since first trying Farberware, have not used any other brand. However, with each new percolator, we have found that their life gets shorter. This latest machine quit this morning, after less than ½ year of service. They make a great cup of rich coffee while they last but they are no longer the reliable appliance they once were. We're going to try a Cuisinart and hope for the same great flavor of perked coffee plus greater reliability. "Love my Farberware", I've owned my Farberware Perc for over 25 years. I have a second one I got an excellent deal on as a back-up. Yes they've both been repaired but they're still going strong. For the thermostat problem I'd suggest going to a suggested repair place that is in the folder with the pot and have the repairman show you how simple it is to do your own replacing. Then stock up on the parts needed. There seemed to be a streak/batches of bad thermostats that just didn't last long. The currant one has been in use for at least 5 years. There's another part in it that can go bad too, but I'm drawing a blank right now on what it's called. I love the ease of "perking" a pot of water with half a scoop of Oxyclean in it. Cleans up the pot in a flash and soooooo easy! Ours is in use constantly so fast and easy is the game when it's time to clean the pot. The clean pot makes the best tasting coffee. It gets pretty sad tasting when the pot is dirty. I have to edit the cleaning part. I just got "new and improved Oxyclean" and it's got a much larger scoop in it. So I have to suggest using 2 teaspoons or a tablespoon of Oxyclean to a pot of water. Still works just as well as I just cleaned my pot. "Farberware Percolator", I have been using Faberware Percolators for several years and this is the worst one I have ever gotten. I think it was used, and passed off as new and I am very unhappy with it. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "If you like excellent coffee", If you like an excellent cup of hot coffee, this is the coffee-maker for you. This was a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law who would not use anything but a Farberware coffeemaker. She says it is the best cup of coffee ever - and my husband and I just bought one (but the programmable one) and we love it, too! "Disappointed", This is the third Farberware 4-12 cup maker I've had, and all have had the same problem. They make great coffee for about 6 months, then seem to lose their "oomph" -- resulting in weak, watery coffee. "Burns up in four months", This perculator lasted only four months with us;its rapid perk feature was its death! If you like to buy a new one every few months, this is for you. "0 for 2", I have purchased 2 of these pots in the last 16 months. The last one in Feb. They both worked great for 6 months or so then the heating units seem to fail. Only got warm tan water this morning! Same thing my last one did after about 8 months! Great pot if you only need one for 6 months. Am on Amazon looking for something that will last a little longer! "Happy at First, but not after 14 months", I love the design and stainless steel (no plastic taste). Enjoyed the coffee for awhile, but after a year we've been experiencing periodic short brew times producing nearly clear coffee. Seems that frequent cleaning, especially where the tube meets the bottom of percolator improves coffee perk. Pouring some coffee back through the top produces more flavor. It's a great piece of hardware, but the increasingly inconsistent perk leads me to give it a low rating. For daily use I'll go back to press coffee and use the farberware for parties. |
