"Works well"
Hey, it works. No more wasted paper bags. Now, if I can just figure out how to not clog my drain....

With drip coffee makers you need to grind your beans more coarsely or you will get fine sediment going through this basket. That is expected. Other than that, I love the filter and it does its job. Coffee tastes much better than a paper filter alone.

I used to use permanent filters that I found at the local grocer. They cost a couple of bucks, and seemed to work fine, but I never experienced the "awesome coffee" that permanent filters were supposed to help brew. Well, it all comes down to the materials.

The gold tone mesh is very fine, and what surprised me most was that it doesn't retain the stale odor of coffee grounds that the other, less expensive filters I bought, did - even when I put them in the dishwasher. With this filter, all I have to do is rinse it out - even if I've been too lazy to empty the filter after brewing a pot of coffee. I do, however, use a tiny bit of mild soap and a soft brush (it's a brush designed to clean wine glasses, actually, and is very handy with this) and whenever I run the dishwasher, I put the filter in on the top rack.

THIS filter helps make a GREAT cup of coffee.

(I also use purified drinking water from Hinckley Springs. That helps too. But not as much as the filter.)

""Fits most" -- but not Cuisinart"
I'm sure it's a fine filter --but those considering this item for a Cuisinart Grind & Brew coffeemaker should be aware that it will not fit those machines. You must buy the Cuisinart gold tone filter instead (diameter of the Cuisinart item is somewhat smaller, and bottom is mesh which is necessary for the grind/brew to function properly). Just a word from experience here--I bought this one first, because it's a few bucks cheaper, but had to return and buy the other instead....

"Great Filter!"
This is a great filter! I've had it for about a year, and use it at least once a day. I wash it by hand most days (which is very easy to do) and wash it in the dishwasher about once every two weeks, and it's still in great condition. The mesh basket drips well, and yet I have never had a coffee ground in my cup since using this.
