"Works like a charm"
I tested this on two jars and it worked simply and safely. I'm going to buy another one for my parents.

"Good Deal"
This gadget is well made and simple to use even if you have some arthritis. On top of that, it actually works as advertised.

"OXO jar opener"
Not always sure if a product lives up to the advertising, but this one sure does. A boon to anyone who has trouble opening jars. Even though the jar sits on a plastic ring, you still need one good hand to steady the jar and the other one to turn the opener. It has opened everything I asked of it with the exception of a small bottle cap, but that may have been 'operator error'.

"Presto! The jar is ajar!"
Is your jam lid jammed? Are your pickles in a pickle? Are you holding the mayo just because you can't get it open? Then you need this revolutionary new gizmo from the innovative OXO Good Grips i-series!

The OXO Jar Opener is a sturdy, eight and one-half inch long Y-shaped device filled with a flat piece of stainless steel with sharp teeth along one side. An arrow is carved right into the metal so you'll always know which way to turn when loosening those stubborn lids. A removable non-slip coaster is attached to the steel with a black knob in the center of the Y. The handle is coated with easy-to-grip black rubber, and a hole is cut into the end of it so you can hang the opener on your kitchen wall if you so desire. The device will fit over anything ranging in size from three-quarters of an inch all the way up to four inches, so you can use it on 2-liter soda bottles, giant jars of peanut butter, and everything in between.

To open any jar, just pull the circular pad off of the black knob and place it on the counter. Next, sit the troublesome food container on top of said pad. Place the Good Grips opener on top of the jar and slide it forward as far as it will go. Turn the opener in the direction of the arrow-shaped cut-out while applying forward pressure to insure that those steel teeth are biting the lid as you turn. In most cases, the jar will pop open quite easily, one exception being those soft plastic caps. Occasionally, if you're trying to remove a plastic cap that's on really tight, the teeth will saw a groove into the cap instead of gripping it.

Opening containers with the aid of the OXO Good Grips Jar Opener still requires some degree of effort, but it makes the task a whole lot easier on your hands. This is an essential gadget that no kitchen should be without. It's just too bad it doesn't come in red.

"works great"
Very easy to use. I tried another brand that did not work, but this one definitely helps opening jars.

What our customer's say!

"opens everything", Wow! This product opens every jar, small and large. I don't hesitate to recommend it to everyone. I don't know what I'd do without it. Some may use an electronic opener, but it doesn't work on everything and this will work when the electricity is down.

"Still need strength!", I have another gadget that works great on jars that don't have a lip under the lid so I thought I'd try this for those jars (like Classico pasta sauce) that my little gadget doesn't work on...but you still need strength of a muscle man! Maybe I'm doing something wrong but even my husband tried it and said it was easier to just open it with his hands. The "teeth" on this opener just slip...very disappointed.

"STRONG AS AN OX!", This is the strongest jar opener I have ever owned. In fact, I had given up trying to find a satisfactory one because ALL I have purchased in the past have broken sooner rather than later.

NOT THIS ONE! It is very impressive and sturdy. In fact, I would advise caution as it opens the jar with less work and pressure than one is expecting to have to apply to it. When using for the first time, I would recommend taking it easy. It really does all the work.

The rubber base is also a plus so the jar does not slip around while it is being opened. And it fits into the opener easily for storage.

The directions read that the base needs to be hand washed, while the opener itself is dishwasher safe. Both rinse so easily, however, that I don't see why it would be necessary at all to use a dishwasher for cleaning.

With arthritic hands, this opener is a blessing for me which I have been searching for a long time to find.

"Use as suggested - it's super", While I can open almost all bottles on my own, there are a few that resist all the usual blandishments - tapping the lid on the counter, using hot water on it, etc.

For even those reluctant jars, place the plastic on the counter to hold the jar in place, put the opener on the lid - presto ... it's almost magic how easily it opens.

"Changed My Life!", For years I have a struggled to open jars and I've tried out tons of tips, tricks, and gadgets. My search for a solution is over. This jar opener is amazing and makes opening a jar of any size a snap.

I recommend this to all the women in my life (young and old alike) and I've already bought it for a few of them.

Nothing made me feel more helpless and frustrated than being home alone and unable to open a jar. Now all I need is an oxo gadget for opening paint cans and I'll be set!

"OXO Good Grips-A Winner!", This was my second purchase of this product. I liked mine so much, I sent this one to my sister-in-law. She loves it too. I like to order from Amazon-I have never been disappointed. Keep up the good work.

"limited for arthritis", OK for general use, but requires a pretty good grip, making it tough to use for hand arthritis patients.

"Great for small hands & big jars", I have small hands and have difficulty opening large jars. This works great. The opener gives me enough leverage to open big lids I could barely have gotten my hands around (but also works well for small lids) and the nonskid rubber disk makes it possible to easily hold the jar in place on the counter while exerting that leverage. Then the disk neatly attaches to the opener so the two stay together in my kitchen drawer.

"Jar Opener", This works well on metal capped jars, but just scratched up jars with plastic lids.

"A great jar opener", I have arthritis in my hands, and it is hard to open some jars. This works fine, and the non-skid mat is a bonus. I've opened small bottles, and am sure it will work well for larger ones, too.
