Others say...

"What was I thinking when I bought this?"
I guess I thought that I could eliminate cupcake or muffin papers and that the flexible nature of the silicone pan would aid in easy removal.. Not so. My cupcakes stuck and broke apart when I tried to remove them, even though I sprayed them with cooking spray first.

I have looked at the new silicone bakeware products for a while and assumed that something new would be an improvement. No so, in my opinion. The cupcakes didn't brown as they do in metal pans. This goes out in my next yardsale.

"my husband loved it!"
My husband wanted a silicone muffin tray for christmas and loved this one. It's great because the sleigh keeps the mix steady instead of spilling all over the place. It's more expensive than the ones without the sleigh, but I think its worth it. Nice job, no messy clean up!

"What a stinker..."
and I mean that literally. I received this pan as a gift and have to say fist and formost that I would never have purchased it myself as I am very happy with my metal non-stick pans. I experienced the same burnt rubber odor when using this muffin pan that others have complained about. It permeated every room in my home and I had to open the doors in the middle of winter to air it out. The corn muffins I made also tasted a little off and I guess that this must have come from the fumes I could actually see coming off the pan. The muffins also did not come out without sticking though I didn't use any spray so that may take care of the problem. It did come nice and clean from hand washing unlike what others have reported. That might depend though on the batter. But despite my cleaning success it is definately going into the garbage. Save your money.

"Didn't experience problems of other reviewers"
i didn't experience the smell or sticking issues with my muffin tin. i have made 2 batches of muffins; the first were banana muffins in paper cups. i didn't spray the surface with cooking spray, and even though the muffins were tall and spilled over onto the top, they did not stick. Cleanup was a breeze. The second set of muffins were "dinner muffins", more like an herb dinner roll than a muffin. They were made without paper cups at all, and i sprayed lightly with cooking spray and experienced no sticking at all. They came out easy, tasted great, and i was thrilled. Both were new recipes to me. Cleanup is fast and easy, and no worry about that browning, crusty stuff that forms on aluminum bakeware. The sled was handy, too, though slightly cumbersome to clean and store. The only downside was that the muffin indentations were a little shallower than the traditional aluminum pan.

"Silicone Muffin Pan"
Makes great blueberry muffins, cornbread, etc. Spray with Pam for easiest removal. Easy cleanup in dishwasher and easy to store.

What our customer's say!

"not happy", I found that the finished muffins clung to the tray (I didn't grease and flour, but still). They also were unusually short and stumpy muffins. Better R&D next time, Kitchen Aid.

"Stick with metal pans!", I'm so glad I bought this used for $2 vs. new. It looks cool, and the Kitchenaid brand was a plus. Muffins and cupcakes don't brown like they should. The texture and crumb are different. The pan doesn't effect taste luckily. Storage is a problem. Using non-stick sprays leaves a sticky finish to the muffin pan eventually that does not come off in the dishwasher - which would also happen with some metal cupcake or cake pans as well. I do not recommend this at all. If anyone wants to pay shipping, they can have my pan! I'll stick to metal pans.

"emits a chemical odor", After I put this item in the oven, the thing started to emit a chemical odor, somewhat like the smell of burning plastic. so i had to stop, throw the muffins out, air out the house. awful - can't believe Kitchenaid would sell something like this!

"Makes Mangled but Mouthwatering Muffins ", This non-stick pan is definitely not non-stick. I sprayed the pan and my muffins still stuck. With the same treatment in my non-stick metal pan the muffins come right out.

I also experienced the unpleasant oder of burning plastic others have experienced.

On the plus side, I seem to always scorch muffins baked in the metal pan, and the muffins in the silicone pan are usually baked just right.

"Good Product", I make muffins about 2-3 times a month. Kitchen Aid Quality here again.

"Might want to stick with metal", The sled that comes with this muffin pan does solve the problem of the flexibility of silicone pans nicely--without it, you have to use a cookie sheet--something has to keep the flexible pan from spilling its contents as you try to get it into the oven.

I think perhaps that silicone bakeware is a technology that has promise but needs improvement. The pan is not really very non-stick. It must be sprayed with quite a lot of nonstick spray for easy release; otherwise, the contents will be edible, but mangled. Perhaps it's my sample, but while cooking, the pan itself emits an odor of scorched plastic that I find unpleasant. Because of the sled, it takes up more storage space than I think a muffin pan warrants.

It's interesting as a novelty, but I really see no advantage over a good nonstick metal pan, and several disadvantages. I love the silicone baking sheets, but this material is not like that, and I think I will not be buying any more silicone pans. In fact, I think I'll toss this one.

"Coolest Muffin Pan Ever", This is one of the coolest muffin pans ever! Besides the non-stick surface, it's made of silicone - so if your muffin does stick a little bit, you can just bend the pans and pull it out. These pans do great in the dishwasher, oven, freezer.. I LOVE them. Highly recommend!
