Others say...
"Loved it, but it died prematurely in my opinion" I loved the features, the lack of sticking waffles, and the ease of cleaning (just wiped it off) but it died after two years. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but for a rather simple product I had hoped for five years or more. "Chef's Choice 830B Waffle Pro" I have been looking for a Belgian Waffle Maker since I ate Belgian Waffles on the last cruise I took. After researching waffle irons and reading reviews, I decided that the Chef's Choice 830B waffle iron was the product for me. I do not have a big kitchen, so the size was a concern also. After receiving this waffle iron, I have not been sorry I got it. The waffles are the best and so easy to make. And the clean up is a breeze - there is barely any clean up. The waffles were a hit with my son who stated that he never wants to eat frozen waffles again. I have used the Aunt Jemima Pancake and Waffle Mix and also used Krusteaz Belgian Waffle Mix, both are good and easy. The instruction book also comes with recipes to try. I am very pleased with this product. "Poor results" We bought this several years ago to very good reviews. The first several times, we had excellent results. Afterwards, all we had was trouble. The waffles stuck to the "non-stick" surface and the back hinge broke after only a year. Now, I cannot get waffles to come out of the waffle maker. It heads to the garbage this morning. "Quality may be slipping... I'll report on my repair experience later" Got mine for Christmas and have used it about 6 times. When it worked it worked well - though no better or worse than my Mom's Cusinart that looks very similar. It stopped working in the middle of a batch this weekend. I called the company to see what to do. They said send it back at my expense and they'll fix it. It was the answer I was expecting which is fine - though the person I spoke to (at Edgecraft the manufacturer) couldn't have been less friendly. I will report back on my repair experience once I get the product back. 4 stars for how it works, 0 stars for quality of the product itself (so far) "Chef's Choice 830 Belgian Waffle Maker" I purchased in January, followed the directions, really like the maker. It took a couple of times to get the texture and color that I wanted but well worth losing a couple of waffles to the trash can. I would purchase this again.

What our customer's say! "Easy to use Waffle maker", This unit is a well made, easy to use and very easy to clean waffle maker. The machine has an adjustable heating unit that thoroughly cooks waffles to your liking. The price was fair and the unit delivers all the advertising promises. "Great Little Machine", Chef's Choice 830B WafflePro Classic Belgian Waffle Maker is easy to use ...a breeze to clean and makes delicious Belgian waffles...especially the recipe from the booklet. "A great first waffle maker for a novice", This is my first waffle maker, and I'm quite pleased with it so far. I wasn't an aficionado before, but after two months of delicious waffles, I think I'm becoming one. I'm a lazy cook, and I started out using Krusteaz Belgian waffle mix (just add water). It produced a great waffle, but then I read the nutrition label. One waffle has 850mg of sodium, and I sometimes eat two at a sitting! 1700mg of sodium was unacceptable, so I did some research and created my own healthy (-er) but still easy waffle recipe. This makes 4 waffles; you can always double or triple it if you want more: 1.25 cups of whole wheat flour (I like Stone-Buhr brand, 12g fiber per cup) 1 tablespoon sugar (promotes browning) 1.5 teaspoon baking powder (Hain Featherweight has NO SODIUM!) 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup egg substitute (Egg Beaters et al; no fat or cholesterol; reduces splitting) 3 tablespoons olive oil (really promotes release from the non-stick surface) 3/4 cup milk (1% works fine) 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Sift the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. Beat the wet ingredients together for a bit of airiness, then add to the dry stuff. Stir together slowly with a spoon, just enough to get all the dry ingredients wet, but still a bit lumpy. Don't overmix! The batter should be very thick and pour slowly; stir in more milk or flour to fine-tune it. The Chef's Choice 830B takes exactly one half cup of batter; after pouring it in, immediately press down gently on the lid handle for ten seconds or so to distribute the batter. The "Crisp Exterior/Moist Interior" setting worked as advertised (when I set the color control dial to the highest setting), but by the time I got the waffle to the table, the wonderful moisture inside had migrated to the outside and softened the crisp exterior. Although it still tasted pretty good, it wasn't what I'd hoped for. Instead, the "Uniform Texture" setting (with color control set to the 4-5 range) dried out the interior of the waffle, yet left it surprisingly fluffy while still nice and crisp on the outside. Since (per the manual) you shouldn't clean the non-stick surface with anything more than water and a soft cloth, don't use a cooking spray like Pam, because the propellants and other additives build up on the surface and can't be removed. With enough oil in the batter, the grid comes totally clean. If you add fruit to the batter, it can stick to the grid, requiring some cleaning and re-oiling. It works better to put fresh fruit on top of the cooked waffle instead. "too bad", I enjoyed this machine very much until it just quit. I had it about 2-3 yrs with about once a month use. "Finally! A waffle maker that works!", I finally tossed our old waffle iron because the waffles always stuck! This Chef's Choice is excellent! You oil it once, before you use it the first time, and that's it! You can choose how dark or light you want them. No guessing when they're done; a bell rings and the green light goes on, and it's been perfect each time. The cord wraps around the bottom and it stores on end, making it easy to keep out of the way on my counter. I couldn't be happier with it. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Chef's Choice 830B WafflePro Classic", This product delivers what it promises. My family likes the Belgium waffles (softer on the inside), and the "Crisp Exterior Moist Interior" setting does the job. I like them crunchy all the way through and use the "Uniform Texture" setting. Pour in 1/2 of mix and the red baking light goes on. When it's done, the red light shuts off and the green light goes on AND the unit beeps! It's perfect! No more burned waffles if your distracted for a moment. That's not all...there's a color control setting to make your waffles as light or dark as you like. Just spray with oil the 1st time you use and you never need to again. They don't stick! I leave batter in the frig overnight and the kids make quick waffles in the morning. You'll be happy with this unit. "great little waffle maker", I bought this waffle maker a few months ago and love it! It cooks quickly, is simple to clean, and makes the soft (yet crispy-on-the-outside) waffles I prefer. I get three full sized waffles from a recipe using one cup of flour and almsot one cup of buttermilk (among other ingredients). The only shortcoming is that the wells are pretty small and shallow. But for what this waffle maker does, it does very well. "I love the timer", In the hussle of making breakfast, the Chef's Choice 830B makes fast, great waffles. I love the timer that lets you know when the waffle is done. "Chef's Choice is the perfect choice!", I had never owned a waffle maker before and purchased this Chef's Choice model based on positive reviews. I was not disappointed in my choice. This is a great little kitchen appliance! The perfect Belgian Waffle Maker! I used the recipe for Basic Waffles in the instruction manual, and my whole family loved them. Best of all, they were easy to make and clean-up was a breeze. It takes a mere minute and a half to cook one scrumptious waffle so it didn't take a lot of time to cook a batch for the whole family. Look no further if you need a waffle maker. The price is great also and the waffle iron has really nice features--including a buzzer to tell you when your waffle is ready! Perfect every time. "Mmmmmm! Waffles....", This waffle iron has seen a serious workout since Christmas morning. I purchased this for my daughter-in-law and the grandkids. It hasn't seen the inside of a cupboard yet! The waffle iron is really fast, easy to clean and doesn't take up much counter space. I read all of the reviews and decided this was the best for my money. So far, perfect! June 04, 2008: I just checked with my daughter-in-law, it's still going strong! It may not get used daily, but it does get used weekly. She says it's easy to adjust and still quick. ![]() |
