"Great Yogurt Maker"
I have had my Donvier Yogurt Maker for over a year (maybe more) and I love it. I know what's in my yogurt and that makes me happy. I use non-fat milk, and make it plain then add whatever sugar free flavors I want at the time that I eat it. I have also made the yogurt cheese and it is also great. I owned a Salton before this and when I moved it was given away...my bad....anyway, Donvier has saved the day for me. I have the extra jars and the cheese maker. I am very happy with this product.

"Big disappointment"
One of the first appliances I replaced when returning to the States after having lived abroad for almost 20 years was my much-used SEB Yogurt Maker. What a disappointment this Donvier machine is by comparison! The Donvier makes the pleasure of homemade yogurt tedious and annoying...one might as well just make yogurt in the oven. With the Donvier, the milk must be preheated (?!) to a specific temperature and then left to cool (?!) before filling the plastic (?!) cups with ill-fitting lids, the cycle is interminably long, and the consistency of the finished product is unappetizing. What a contrast to the SEB -- add one plain (homemade or commercial) yogurt (and 1/4 cup of fruit-flavored syrup) to a quart of cold milk, swish a turn or two with a whisk to mix, pour into the glass (!) cups, let the machine run for 8 hours then pop on the perfectly-fitted lids and refrigerate. Surely there must be a 110V machine out there somewhere that is as easy to use and that yields the same commercial-quality results...

"Easy way to eat healthy!"
Fruit-on-the-bottom commercial yogurts taste great, but what's that corn syrup doing in there? With the Donvier yogurt maker, I know exactly what goes in my yogurt and I can add whatever ingredients I want: fresh fruit, honey, maple syrup, homemade strawberry jam. Prep is simple, and a single batch makes enough yogurt for a week's worth of breakfasts.

The only thing you have to think about is the timing. Since the process can take 10+ hours, you need to plan ahead so you're available to put the finished yogurt in the refrigerator when it's done.

"yogurt maker"
I received this yogurt maker as a gift. I have had a few and don't find this one to be any better than the regular salton machines. The cup sizes are about 6 oz each and the lids are cheap and crack easily. I am disappointed to have traded an old salton machine that I bought at a thrift store for this fancier model. I would've been better off ordering lids from salton and keeping what i had. I do not recommend this product.

"I like this machine"
I made my first batch of yogurt in this machine and found it to be simple, and the yogurt turned out excellent first time. Just follow the simple instructions and there should be excellent results!
I started with 2% natural milk, fresh from the store, and Greek style plain yogurt for starter.
Creamy smooth yogurt in every cup!

What our customer's say!

"Almost perfect", I love this yogurt-maker. It's a breeze to use, and the yogurt is wonderful. One complaint: some (not all) of the plastic lids are almost impossible to remove from the jars without using a prying tool. I use an old-fashioned bottle opener. This operation is painful for hands that are showing signs of arthritis.

"YOGURT MAKER", At the beginning I was not happy because as I found out later I WAS NOT following instructions correctly. The yogurt maker is awesome. I had a lot of trouble getting the yogurt to be the consistency I wanted because I was not waiting for the milk to reach the right temperature when adding the starter. You do need to wait till the temperature reaches the window it shows in the thermometer the machine brings. (I am using plain yogurt with active cultures as a starter, 2 tablespoons)...Now I get the perfect consistency . I leave the yogurt for 12 hrs and it comes out great! I am extremely happy with my purchase. I recommend it.

"Melted the unit on first use", I was very excited when this arrived. I followed the instructions, plugged the machine in. Within a couple of minutes the casing started to melt. This could have easily caused a fire in our home. I have requested a refund.

"Great", This yogert maker works very well. I love the yogert, and find I am eating more healthy breakfasts since I started making my own.

"Electronic Yogurt Maker", I am very pleased with my yogurt maker. Would recommend to anyone who likes fresh yogurt with no additives.

"Yogurt maker", I liked this machine; it makes 8 containers. The only thing I don't like is that the tops are hard to get on and off.

"Not warm enough", Although this product looks nice, the one that I got is not working, for both timer and heat system. I am very disappointed with it!

"Does what it is supposed to do", I can't say that it won't break, but in two months of biweekly use it did not have any problems.
All the batches I have done have perfectly consistent results if I prepare them in the same way. Small variations in protocols usually have negligible effects (e.g., +- 1 hr in "cooking time" and small variations in temperature when "boiling" or adding the starter), but sometimes they do. I am a scientist by training and a Ph.D. in chemistry so I have some idea about what I am talking about. I suspect that the lack of consistency found by some were more a statement about their cooking skills than a statement about the product. It doses exactly what it is supposed to do in a simple and clean way. The breaking of the jars and caps seems to require a remarkable degree of mishandling.
The fact that I use it continuously (that is, I never run out of yogurt) might partially explain the consistency I have found.
I used some dried Yogurt starter at the beginning and followed the instructions on the yogurt maker mostly. It worked.
