Others say...

"GREAT Product!"
Can't imagine a better product for the job. Heats water at the speed of light, holds a lot and it looks good to boot. Great product!

"Didn't Last"
I bought this kettle and loved it until it just died after only three months.

"Good While it Lasted"
I am a tea-a-holic. This was a great way to avoid the tea kettle on the stove or watching a pot boil, plus, this item is small enough to take with you; I used it at my parent's house and in a hotel. My problem, however, is that it just quit working; I had the unit less than 3 months. All contacts were clean and the light indicator would come on, but, the kettle wouldn't heat. WHile I say I drink a lot of tea, the unit was only getting used in the morning for my first cup and then occasionally at night for another cup.

"It does what it is supposed to!"
We purchased the cordless tea kettle to have a source of hot water for our daily tea fix. It has worked out well and is convenient to use. It doesn't take long to heat up the water. As I stated in the title; It does what it is supposed to. What more can you ask.

"This one's my favorite."
After living in Europe, where everyone has one (like we have toasters) I have owned a few. This was the last one I bought in Europe and it outlasted all the others. It is amazingly good looking. It saves time and energy. I have the most hands on kids on the planet and have never had a problem. Yes it gets hot...it boils water. It's like a kettle, the kids don't touch it. I think it's good that it radiates heat like it does. A plastic one a kid (or anyone else for that matter) could pick up because it didn't seem too hot and actually burn themselves with boiling water which is what you don't want. I've had plastic ones and they don't seem to last. It is very stable (won't tip over) and it doesn't take up a burner on the stove. A must for tea drinkers and about the same price as a decent kettle. Less cleaning because it doesn't sit on your stove and get grease splatters and the separate heating element means calcium accumulation isn't a problem. And it turns itself off! No more running for the whistle! Or waking people up! Or melting down your kettle! I bought this again when I moved back from Europe and am as happy with the 120V version as I was with the 240V.

What our customer's say!

"Perfect for My 100 Year Old Mother", This is a near perfect device for my mother who is 100 years old and whose eyesight is poor. She is able to pour water into the teakettle, press the lever, and water is boiling soon for her tea. No danger of the water boiling over, no electric cords to tangle or trip over. A terrific product for her and many others, old and young.

"Electric Teapot review", The teapot works well, as designed. My comments:
I bought the pot for my elderly Mother because she was boiling water in sauce pans and kept burning them up. I was afraid she would set the kitchen on fire. I had it sent to me to see if it was what I had imagined.

First of all, it is too big and heavy for an elderly person to handle. I had tried to find one for for only two to four cups of water but could not.

Next, the switch is located so that it can be bumped on or kept on if carelessy set on a small object. It would be better in the handle.

The lid does not open completely so it is hard to fill. Why hot fill it through the spout and do away with the lid altogether? Also, it does not close when the tumb switch is released and has to be pushed down by the other hand. Why not make it easier to close.

When the pot is picked up, the base hangs on to it and then drops on the counter. The post should be relaced by a flat surface.

The water level window is hard to see. Why not put it in a more conspicuous place?

This pot is bulkier than others of the same capacity. It takes up too much room in a retired person's little kitchen. A smaller footprint would be appreciated.

I don't see that the metal adds anything, only volume and weight. Maybe a smaller, more compact plastic envelope would be better.

"Convenient, quick, pure taste.", I have had a number of hot-water on-demand products plumbed into my sink, hoping to make a quick cup of fresh coffee in the morning using a french press and fresh ground coffee beans. However, they all added a plastic taste to the water, that contaminated the pure taste of my morning brew. Really noticable!

I used one of these electric kettles recently in Ireland, and was impressed how fast it heated the full pot of water. And the taste was as pure as out of the faucet. It's simple: just fill it up, place it on its base, push down the lever and within a few short minutes I have a pot of perfectly heated water. When I returned home, I quickly purchased one for myself and have loved it ever since.

I picked this particular kettle because of the reputation of the Chef's Choice brand. Indeed, it's solidly made, ultra-simple to use, and very convenient. It's a winner!

"Nicer pot than Bodum Ibis but not quite as fast", I replaced a one year old defective Bodum Ibis with this one because I was disappointed in the short life of the Bodum. This unit fits on the base very well, much better than the Bodum. It's nicer looking. The Bodum is a bit faster, heating 1.5L in about 5 1/2 minutes, where the Chef's choice takes about 7 minutes. Also the Chef's Choice is a bit louder. I'd choose this one over the Bodum at this point. Hopefully it will last for a few years.

"Chef's Choice 677 Cordless Electric 1-3/4-Quart Teakettle by amazon", excellent.. boils in about 8 minutes..wash inside with wash cloth for about 4 miutes to rid the steel odor... then it's fine to use! no more odor,...bit heavy but boiling from steel container beats boiling from plastic ones, .. just not comfortable with boiling water day after day in a plastic thing, not healthy?!!.. thanks amazon !!.. hope it lasts .. usually from past experience these electric kettles don't last long.. but chef's choice might last long, i hope.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Perfect", Originally I purchased this for safety reasons. With 2 small children I can't rely on a whistle or memory to take a tea kettle off the stove. Now that I have used it I can't believe I ever went without it! It is such a time saver and makes enjoying tea throughout the day simple. I ran two full pots of boiling water and dumped before drinking and never experienced the metallic taste others mentioned.

"Waiting to use this item....", I was delighted when I received this item, but when I was doing the initial recommended "clean up before use", I discovered on the bottom that it was "Made in China." I called the manufacturer to find out if these teakettles have been tested for lead content, but did not get a satisfactory answer. SO, I have ordered a "lead tester" kit (from Amazon) .... when my kit arrives, I will test this appliance for lead content. If it proves to be free from lead, I look forward to using it. (Had the catalog listing indicated that the appliance is Made in China, I would have looked for one made elsewhere.)Chef's Choice 685 International Deluxe Cordless Electric Teakettle

"So Convenient!!!!", This little pot is great! I use it daily and have had it for well over a year now. I am buying another for the office. If you have hard water, it does need a quick rinse with vinegar every couple of months or so. If you don't keep it free from deposits. It lights but will not heat. Possibly the reason why some other owners are unhappy with the product. But I love mine!!!

"My wife's favorite appliance.", It is one of my wife's favorite appliances. She is not a fan of using our microwave and this product allows her to heat small to medium quantities of water for tea and other uses quickly.

The only downside to the product that she has found is that it is easy to inadvertently turn on the product because of the location of the switch. This is not much of a safety risk because of the automatic shutoff, but a better location for the on/off switch would be an improvement in our opinion.

"Doesn't shut off fast enough", Keeps boiling for a long time before shutting off (if indeed it does; I haven't waited). Also doesn't switch off when lifted from its base -- when you put it down again, it keeps boiling). Otherwise seems fine.

The search for the perfect kettle continues!
