"Nice but expensive"
I wanted a different looking kettle and this one is definetely different, bright color, cool design; love the automatic spout action, really practical, whistle works great BUT it's near impossible opening the kettle to fill with water without hurting one's hand really badly: that's poorly designed.
all in all, great kettle but I was expecting just a lot more for that price.

"A great kettle!"
This is a great kettle. I was a little hesitant to purchase it because of the price and because some of the reviewers had mentioned that it splashed hot water droplets when they picked it up, but I checked it out at a local store and loved the feel of it, so I went ahead and purchased it. I can happily report that we haven't had any problems with splashing droplets, even when the kettle is very full. I think I also recall complaints about a hot handle. This has never been a problem for us with this kettle; though with our previous one (a German-made Kamen kettle) it definitely was.

The one thing I would point out to potential buyers is that it has a slightly smaller volume than most other kettles. This isn't a problem for us since we're usually just making tea for four people at a time. The upside of the smaller volume is that it saves energy when, if you're like my husband, you have a tendency to fill the kettle to capacity before heating, even if you're just making a single cup of tea. The smaller capacity just means that it comes to a boil faster.

Beyond that, it's just a great looking, great feeling kettle!

"Beautiful design with an *almost* ideal functionality"
The kettle has a very attractive aesthetic. I absolutely love that the spout opens with a flick of the handle. No more burning your fingers, pulling the plug from the spout. The flick-handle is a wonderful feature and makes the kettle. The rubber handle is also comfortable on the hand (though it can get hot).

I have only one complaint about the kettle: the spout is too short. Why does this matter? Because of the spout's length and angle, combined with the handle's angle, when pouring freshly boiled water into a mug, steam rushes out of the open spout and right back on to my hand. That is hot.

A few other reviewers have complained that this kettle rusts. I have never had that problem, and I do occasionally leave water in it overnight by accident. At least one other reviewer has complained about the thin bottom. The bottom is thin, which doesn't enhance the aesthetic, but it does enable to water to boil more quickly and with less heat (with would cause the rest of the kettle to get very hot).

So, I really like this kettle and recommend it, with one caveat; and I hope that OXO will remedy this design flaw in future versions.

"easy to use and nice looking tea kettle"
I like this kettle because it looks nice and is very easy to use. It's simple one motion opening mechanism works very smoothly. It's handle is never hot to the touch. It has a large capacity, and makes lots of hot water for everything we need. The only thing I dislike about it is that the whistle is not very loud, and is hard to hear. Overall, it's a little pricey, but I think it will last a long time.

"Great Kettle .. Misrepsented Color !!"
Although this Oxo Good Grips Uplift Teakettle is a wonderful product .. the "Green" I ordered and received .. was NOTHING like that which is shown on the Amazon web site. I was attracted to this particular shade of "Bright Apple Green" which would blend in quite nicely with my kitchen decor. However .. the one I received was a rather DRAB DARK OLIVE GREEN .. and needless to say .. I'm extremely disappointed.

What our customer's say!

"Expensive / poor quality", Initially, I was put off by the cost, but figured it must be a quality kettle. Within a few months of owning the pot, the handle to the water reservoir broke. An end of the plastic handle pulled off the lid. No problem, I just screwed it back in. A month later it pulled out again. This time, I unscrewed to the handle to find that the screws were only held in by a metal collar embedded in the plastic. The metal collar somehow stripped and pulled out of the plastic. The handle was permanently broken. I pressed the handle and lid back on and started filling the kettle through the pour. The screws holding the handle on the lid started to rust.

I also found the pour handle clunky. If you don't hold it level, it will pop open unexpectedly and splash water out. Not a big problem for me, but my wife (who is petite) always had a problem holding the pot with one hand.

The pot is getting replaced. 50 dollar piece of garbage.

"good looking unit, but not a good design", On the Oxo model I use, the lid is held together by two screws where the handle attaches. Every three days or so I spend a few minutes removing the several pieces of the lid and carefully re-assembling them, and tightening the screws with a screwdriver, it's not a big deal but it's not awesome either.
The angle of the handle makes the kettle difficult to fill, if you fill it through the removable lid the handle is in the way, if you fill it through the pour spout the handle is at an awkward angle relative to the faucet or water pitcher.
After several years of daily use the parts all still look new, they are obviously high quality, but the poor engineering has me in the market for a different kettle.

"Great product", I've been having this product for over a year now, and have not had any problems with it. I use this product in my kitchen everyday. All I have is Oxo in my kitchen and wouldn't settle for anything else.

"Design flaw led to broken handle lid on two separate models", My wife and I experienced the same problem that a few other people have mentioned, but I wanted to add that we even returned the kettle for a brand new one and it happened again. Surely this is a design flaw.

The lid forms a tight seal, and is actually difficult to remove. The handle on the lid broke off within the first month of usage. And we were even gentle with it the second time around.

Poor design and/or craftsmanship on this one. You have been warned.

"Great product support", I've owned the Oxo Uplift for several years and been generally happy with it. However, the whistle stopped functioning not long after I began using it. I tried to fix it with no luck. After a couple of years I decided to contact Oxo to get a replacement part- and I was willing to pay for it. Oxo replied to me within a day that their products are guaranteed and they promptly sent me a replacement new Uplift! That's great customer service that I wish was more common.

"I have none of the problems other people describe", The whistle in mine functions perfectly (it's a whistle, not a hum); there's never been a bit of rust; the handle only gets too hot if I boil a lot of water, which I don't, but I think that's true for most kettles. The whistle is loud enough that I want to turn it off ASAP.

I have carpal tunnel syndrome, and other repetitive strain problems, and I appreciate only having to use one hand to open and close the kettle.

"OXO Good grips orange teakettle", It's gorgeous, works great (doesn't burn your hand), clever design, whistle not too loud - we love it!

"Great teakettle, Great manufacturer", I can only echo what other reviewers have said about this teakettle. What I can add, is OXO really backs their products. The whistle fell into a cup of tea one afternoon, and after a phone call to their customer service department, I was pleasantly surpised to receive a new teakettle in a matter of days. Some of OXO's items are a little more expensive than some other manufacturers, but the company fully backs all their products. That makes everything from OXO a bargain in my eyes.

"Broke after two times", The handle on the lid pulled off after we had only made two kettles of hot water. Must be some flaw in the design of the lid fastener.

"careful!", These tea kettles are GREAT! But don't leave them on the stove with no water after the whistle stops working, because the enamal will CRACK when you go to refil. Duh---
