"defective", This product arrived defective. I spoke to the company and after attempting a fix, they told me to return it.

Can't say anymore.

"Cannot replace batteris", I've owned this scale for three years, and it funtioned well until the batteries quit. The case shows that it will open, but only if you have a triangle tipped screwdriver. I went to the Salter website to see if there was a tool available, but the website is down. According to the Google cache display, the site has been down all month. This piece of equipment is an exercise in futility, and I'm off to shop for a brand that has a working battery case.

"great! very useful product", I am a powerlifter/ bodybuilder and nutrition is equally as important as time spent in the gym to recover from training.

I bought this food scale primarily to weigh meats to know exactly how much protein I was getting out of a particular cut of meat. Whereas I had to eyeball and guess before, know I know exactly.

Of course, as a weight trainer, I am gaining weight, but I am sure someone looking to loose weight can use the scale for portion control, as well.

"does what it's supposed to :)", nice, simple and light weight. Easy to clean. Of course, the tare function is essential, and great. This is my first time having one of these, so I'll have to see how long the battery lasts. (which is replaceable )

"kitchen digital scale", I purchased this as a gift from a bridal registry. I assume that my future daughter-in-law had a good reason for selecting this product. Comparing the scale to what I have been using all these years, it looks like it would certainly be a lot easier to use and would take up less space.

"Now I know why it wasn't working - and it's great!", I purchased this unit several months ago from a home store. After a few weeks it started acting up. I would turn it on and the numbers would start jumping around randomly before I put anything on it. I would have to remove the batteries and re-insert them to get it to stop, but even that didn't always work. I purchased new batteries, same problem.

I use it all the time and when it works I love it. But there have been times I've been so frustrated at it not working that I've wanted to chuck it against the wall!

I took it back to exchange it and my new one does the same thing. I read in the directions to hold the "on" button until the screen comes on, I do that and it still acts up.

EDIT: I learned it is the microwave that was causing my problem. If there is a microwave nearby running that somehow interferes with the unit and causes the problem I described above. If my microwave is not running it works like a dream. I think Salter should do a better job of informing the customer of this, like a little insert taped to the top of the item that alerts us to the issue, would have saved me time, frustration and gas.

"scales that don't work", New out of the box, can't zero it and can't keep up with the changing numbers makes it very inacurate. Besides that, the batteries would, probably, cost more than the unit. English engineering alright.
The only good thing about it is that Amazon is allowing me to send it back.

"wonderful", I've been using this scale several times a day for over a year to weigh food for my diabetic child. It has never let me down. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. Thank You!

"Very disappointed", How hard can it be for this scale to work?! Well....it doesn't even turn on. Changed batteries and still no luck. I will be returning this item.

"Good product for the price", I really like this. It's really easy to use right out of the box. The only problem I've found so far is that when I put my favorite big bowl on it, the readout isn't visible. Minor inconvenience, but if you intend to use large bowls, beware.
