Others say...
"Did not meet my expectations" I purchased this mug to replace an older model of Trudeau Mug, which was amazing but was getting old. I purchased the mug in June 2007 -- 2 months later the bottom of the mug started leaking! The older model was much better! "leaks like a sieve..." I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but unless I tighten this mug with a plumber's PIPE WRENCH, it leaks all down the front of my shirt EVERY TIME!! I found the insulation adequate...but then again I drink my coffee FAST, so it doesn't have the chance to get cold. Also, the base is too narrow for anything but cup holder usage...try using it on your desk and you're in for a sure spill if you so much as TAP the mug while it's full... "Trudeau Travel Mug" I bought this product to replace one similar to it and i love it! the only complaint i have is that when you put the lid on while it is in the closed position, it creates a sort of vaccuum and it leaks around the seal of the lid. but all in all a great product. "A stylish, leak-proof, but poorly insulated travel mug" The Trudeau is most excellent and the price via Amazon beats other easily. Thumbs up for style, form, and part of the function: being spill-proof. HOWEVER, I read somewhere that the "Double wall insulation provides 2 hours heat insulation". Not exactly certain what that means, but I presumed it meant "You can expect to enjoy hot coffee for up to two hours", i.e., after two hours the coffee would start to be noticeably cool. Try 1 hour. At 2 hours, the coffee was pretty cool. And yes, I RTM and filled the mug with hot water for a few minutes before filling with coffee. No dice. I am kinda let down b/c of other containers that I have used with satisfaction: -- I was given a Caribou Coffee "Stainless Steel Thermos" (you can find it from their web site) and was very content with it - it kept coffee hot for hours. Even four hours later (sometimes meetings in the morning get in the way), the coffee was piping hot. But, it was not a mug, per se. Ok, maybe it's not fair to compare a thermos with a mug. But I think it's fair to expect between 1-2 hours of pretty hot liquid from a travel mug. -- I formerly used a Starbucks travel mug (some stainless steel thing with the widest mouth/body and slightly tapered base). Now this was a mug and it, too, kept the coffee hot for 2-3 hours. I mean hot. So, the Trudeau is 2 out of 3 cool: looks and spill-free, but not really effective at insulating. At least, this has been my experience. And no, this is not meant to be a plug for either Caribou or Starbucks. "Just what I have been looking for!!!" I have had the more well-known travel mugs, and thought that they were the best. Well, I was wrong. This travel mug is by far the best out there. It is truly leak-proof. My friends get tired of me turning it upside down (I guess I'm easily amused hehe), but I really do like a mug that won't spill if tipped over. When turned to the drink side, the liquid flows at about the right rate, not too fast, not too slow. Anyway, I can't say enough about this mug, and the price also beats the competition.

Why I buy this one ? - Guaranteed leak-proof lid - Generous 18 ounce capacity - Handle rotates for right or left -handed use - 360 degree drink lid allows hot beverage to pour from anywhere on the rim Special offer for you..find the cheapest! What our customer's say! "AWESOME TRAVEL MUG!", My mug must be an older model, as it does not look exactly like the one pictured, but it was the closest I could find. In my own experience, no my drink did not stay hot for more than an hour, but when I take into account that there is no built in heating element, I would expect my drink to get cold. But having owned a number of different travel mugs, I am extremely happy with this one. Aside from that, the only mug I've owned that kept my drink hot longer was one that had a built-in heating element. No other travel mug besides that one kept my drink hot longer than the Trudeau. If you have one that's leaking, check to make sure the seal is properly seated. I say this because I removed it one time to clean it. Evidently, I didn't put the seal back in exactly right, and I had a problem that was similar to the one that another reviewer had. I took the seal back out, and tried re-seating it, and I haven't had any problems since. Sure, the mug being wider at the top can be seen as a design flaw, but I've never found that to be a problem, except of course when I improperly replaced the seal the first time. No it's not a perfect travel mug, but I have yet to come across a man-made product that is absolutely flawless. I applaud the manufacturer for this mug, as mine has prevented so many spills that I've lost count. I purchased mine at the Coffee Beanery, and I was disappointed that they switched to a cheaper manufacturer. I have yet to find a better travel mug than this one. "Seals fantastically, insulates rather less so...", The seal on this thing is incredible, you literally can turn it upside down and shake it when it's closed and nothing comes out. Very handy for carrying around campus in my backpack! I was less impressed by its insulating abilities, though; it seems to take less than an hour before it feels warm on the outside, and by that time the heat is escaping and it's just a matter of time before your beverage goes all disappointingly room-temperature on you. But then again, I rarely need to keep something warm *all day*, and so far it's kept my stuff reasonably warm for 2-3 hours at a time. And it's nice and big...really good mug to have, on average. "Pretty good travel mug", So far I've been mostly pleased with this travel mug. In my experience it is indeed leak proof, and it keeps my hot beverages hot for a reasonably long time (well over an hour), considering that I don't follow the directions and fill it with hot water for a few minutes before use. I was disappointed that the "pearlescent blue" color is not nearly as bright as it appears online. It's a dull, almost slate blue, and totally boring. The other irritating thing is that if the lid isn't completely dry when I close it, sometimes hot water splatters everywhere when I open it again. Overall, I like this mug, it performs well, and it seems sturdy enough that I expect to use it for a long time. "Tips over easily", As you can tell from the picture the Trudeau travel mug is more narrow on the lower portion of the container than the upper portion. You might think this would make it prone to tip over easily... and you'd be correct in your thinking. This particular design causes the mug to be very unstable in my truck's cup holder. On the way to work it almost always winds up on the floor. Also, if it is bumped while sitting on a table it seems to more easily tip over than cups with a wider base. The Trudeau Travel Mug's screw on lid does seal well and it keeps coffee hot for about an hour. I would not buy another one with this particular shape. "Great Travel Cup", The first one leaked returned for a prompt replacement. The cup is truly leak proof, very satisfied... ![]()
