Others say...
"It works well but LOUD!" I am happy with it. It is loud. I put my wife's apron over it when it grinds. "Excellent Product. Efficient. Noisy as the Dickens!" I rated this product 4 stars, and that is due to the noise level. This thing is really noisy while doing it's business. If this is an issue, turn it on and leave the room. That's what I do. With that said, if you grind your own beans and are looking for a great grinder in the medium price range, this is it. I had the previous/discontinued model # CCM-16 for over three years. I think I put over 200 pounds of beans through that thing, so when it started having intermittent problems, I sent it to Goodwill. This new model appears to be different ONLY in model designation. I put this and my old one (before sending to Goodwill) next to each other and can find nothing visually different. There is one minor operational difference-this one fills up the grind chamber to almost full before turning off automatically. The previous one filled up a little over half before turning off. The new one also seems to finish grinding faster. (Maybe my imagination.) There is a small (and insignificant I M H O) problem with coffee dust or powder. My solution? So simple you won't believe it. Just before grinding, place one or two paper towels on the counter, spray with window cleaner or water or anything wet that won't harm the counter top, place the grinder on top of the towels, making sure that there is at least a 12" by 12" section of wet towel in front of the grinder. The dust will be attracted to the wet-PROBLEM SOLVED! Throw the wet paper towels in the trash. I have been doing this for years and it works flawlessly. Also, to clean the chute, use a dry tooth brush-works like a charm. SUMMARY: Fair price, excellent operation, efficient, small footprint, large bean hopper, NOISY! UGH! "Not bad for an inexpensive grinder" I've had this grinder in daily use for about 18 months. The grind is good, but not great, in that there is some inconsistency - mostly that the grinder always produces a bit too much "fines" no matter what the setting. Since the grinder has a plastic box which is prone to static cling, the fines also tend to build up over time. The grinder is louder than I would like. I take the edge off that by tossing a dishtowel or two over the top. Finally, I'd like a larger capacity bean hopper. Still, for the money, it's not bad! It's a workhorse. I've never had a single problem with it, and the burrs never seem to dull. If you're looking for a reasonably-priced upgrade from a blade grinder, this is one to consider. "excellent grinder from Cusinart!" I have had two or three other grinders but this is by far the best. Cuisinart really knows how to put out a great product for us consumers. So now I have two wonderful Cuisinart products: the coffee grinder and a Cuisinart coffee maker to make the wonderfully ground coffee. That's why my coffee is so delicious. I am Italian and like GOOD COFFEE and Cuisinart comes through. YOU ROCK, CUiSINART!!!!!!!!!!!!! "could it be louder?" me: "why is this thing so loud?" husband: "what?" good god....breaking the sonic barrier....

What our customer's say! "good grinder", This is the second Cuisinart grinder I've bought. My first one lasted one day over the warrenty, which is why I didn't give this a 5 star rating. I like this one because of the ease to use it and the size of the bean holder. And the different settings that it has. The part that broke was the plastic on the grinder itself. I would still get another one if this happens again. All the other burr grinders didn't have what I was looking for. "solid grinder", I've had this grinder for 3 weeks and I use it often. The noise is about the same as a blade grinder. The grinds are contained if you tap the resevoir to settle the grounds. I thought it was a good buy. "Save $20 and buy a blender", This is a burr grinder. In essence, it should produce even results, granting you the ability to use it for espresso through French press. When attempting to use the coarse setting, it produced a lot of powder, which is unacceptable for French press. Also, my 5-year old and 1-year old are both wide awake now that I'm making coffee - this thing is excessively loud. I do not recommend this product. I had better results using my blade grinder. "Stopped Working after 3 months", We purchased this machine thinking the brand and the reasonable cost would allow us to purchase coffee beans without having to sit in the store and have it mixed with all the other flavors....in the beginning it worked well, then after 3 months the automatic button stopped working, then finally it went kuputt! "Probably worth $50", I took this product back the first day I bought it for the simple fact that it did not have a fine enough grind for espresso. It seemed to produce a decent drip or press grind, but would also create a clump of dust in the top corner of the bin (annoying). For the engergy conscience, it also stays warm when plugged in, maybe because of internal circuitry such as a transformer. I bought a Baratza, much more expensive, and was impressed with the quality of the grind. I recommend the Baratza. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "No Brainer... Easy to Use and Consistent", I bought this grinder despite some of the reviews and am glad I did. As burr grinders go, this one is on the low end of pricing. It is not as quiet as a hundred dollar grinder, but then it's only fifty dollars. Each morning, I grind my coffee and make a good, reproducible pot of coffee. There is a bit of dust, however, two taps on the side of the container and they all fall to the bottom. After removing the top of the coffee container, the ground coffee neatly pours into the coffee filter. I have no complaints, but do drink excellent coffee. "Closer to a Power Tool than a fine kitchen appliance", It is loud, very loud. It will wake up someone on the other side of the house 60 feet away, kind of sounds like your grinding up glass marbles in a cheap disposal. This grinder may be ok for some people that are not particular about there coffee. I got it to grind coffee beans for espresso. It has a couple problems, it does not grind fine enough to produce a good shot of espresso, and what it does grind is inconsistant. It took me a long time before I was able to figure out that the inconsistant grind from this grinder was the reason I was getting a bitter taste to my espresso drinks. For plain old drip coffee that isn't fancy, you may find this grinder to be acceptable. (if you don't mind how loud it is) It really depends on how much your into coffee. If your a home roaster, such as a Iroast user, you will very likely be UNhappy with this grinder, the quality just isn't there. In all seriousness, If you are a Starbucks drinker, you may find this grinder acceptable. If you want more high quality traditional coffee drinks, keep shopping, It's going to cost you more, a lot more than what this unit sells for to get a grinder that produces high quality consistant results. "Great Burr Coffee Grinder!", I've owned this coffee grind mill for over a year now and use it almost on a daily basis. This is the first I've owned but I gave it a 5/5, however I do not have anything else to compare it to. The grind is always consistent, it's quick and it's clean. Easy to use. Has a sturdy build. Sorry if my review lacks substance but - I am very pleased with this and I've had no problems with it whatsoever. I highly recommend to anyone. "Already broken!!!", I bought this coffee grinder several months ago and it did a GREAT job of grinding coffee. Unfortunately, the piece of plastic that holds the hopper to the base has broken. The coffee grinder now will only work when I manually press down on the hopper while the motor is running. Major aggravation, espcially on the really fine grind setting. This grinder feels more substantial than it actually is. Mercifully, I still have the little Krups grinder that I've had for over 20 years! "Love the product but reliability is suspect", We've had our Burr Mill grinder for under a year and LOVE it! The grinder itself really brings out the flavors of the beans. The grinder has given us flawless performance with daily use, until this morning. The motor was turning but there was no grinding. The good news is that when I called Cuisinart directly and gave them the serial number, they were willing to replace the unit for no charge. The replacement did not include shipping so the cost to replace this defective unit was $4. I suspect Cuisinart is aware of defective units which fall into specific serial numbers although not publicly announced. Be wary... you may get a perfect unit or one that needs to be replaced. ![]() |
