"Perfection or Nothing"
If you get one of these that works, it is WONDERFUL and makes the best espresso in the world; I can add nothing to previous reviews in regard to its many merits.
The problem is getting a pot that works. My first pot arrived with its lid detatched and no attachment part ("fixed" with a bent paper clip)with no way to obtain the part. Amazon promptly sent me a replacement pot, which did not work at all.
Evidently, I was not the only one with problems because Amazon said they were not sending more replacements because of the number of problems...I returned the "replacement" and have been using my paper-clip pot, which, subsequently, I've been able to fix.
Now, not only does this pot make wonderful espresso, but it looks good. It is added convenience to be able to leave the pot out, easy to access and ready to use, and have it be attractive rather than an eyesore or "clutter" object.
The most important thing though -- the coffee -- can't be beat.
Note: I've read that some people prefer aluminum for better flavor, but I have read that aluminum is suspected of causing health problems. As a result, I have not tried an aluminum coffee maker--but find it hard to believe that it could beat the flavor of coffee made in this.

"The perfect Moka pot"
I've owned a Bialetti Class stovetop espresso maker (3-cup) for 4 years now and it continues to perform perfectly. As far as moka pots go, you can't ask for better than this. The quality is much better than the aluminium pots you can buy, and the 18/10 stainless looks practically new after 4 years of daily (often twice daily) use. The only part of this pot that wears out is the rubber O-ring that seals the upper and lower halves, but i've only had to replace mine once so far and they cost next to nothing.

This pot makes an excellent espresso, second only to a professional machine or a fully automatic in-home machine such as those made by Saeco or Jura etc. Use fresh beans and grind them, and experiment with types and roasts to find your favourite. It doesn't give you a 'crema' like a machine, but the flavour of the rich dark espresso is great!

I find the 3-cup a good size for one person or to share, while the 4-cup is best for two. Generally, cleaning is simply a matter of running water over the top, bottom and filter and setting aside to dry. Occasionally it is a good idea to soak the pot in water plus some bi-carbonate of soda (baking soda) - it will leave it looking and smelling like new.

Overall, well well well worth the money!!

"Product not as expected"
Purchased the item considering that the Bialletti is a good brand. This product was made in India and I felt the quality wasn't up to par. I returned the product because it arrived damaged, but I am not sure if I would purchase it again. Ok, but not great.

"PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!"
This is a fine product -- easy to use, easy to clean, attractive, and works just as described. I would surely buy this again if I had the need for it. Just dandy. I rubbed a little oil into the round, rubber washer on the bottom of the top unit before using it, in order to keep the coffee dispenser from sticking to it. The oil also helps keep the washer supple so it won't crack and dry out.

"delicious but small..."
i got this as a (fantastic) gift, and i quite like it. the coffee is tasty, and the stainless steel makes me feel more comfortable about using it, what with aluminum being something that can leach a little.

my only complaint is that i thought it would be a little bit bigger. being titled a 4 cup, i thought i would be able to serve more people with it- it really serves only me, maybe one other person if we are taking tiny cups. i know espresso is meant for small servings; perhaps if it stated how many ounces of coffee it could make at once?

still, very delicious, very happy to have it! and it really is so easy to use and clean that i can just make more as needed.

What our customer's say!

"Not so great", I've owned several stove top espresso machines. I find this one is hard to screw closed properly and therefore doesn't make a full pop of coffee. The coffee it makes is okay, but not wonderful.

"great little pot!!!", using this for a week and am totally hooked! Easy to use and clean and I've never had a better cup of espresso!

"A nice, stylish, and well-made maker.", Nice looking, all stainless construction, reasonably-priced, and decent espresso. If I would take more time and heat it up more slowly I could probably make it even better, and end up with crema on top. I guess that's the big difference between this little pot and my friend's $2,000+ Jura. I have to do all the work. I can live with that. I had an aluminum pot at one time, but it got all grody on the inside. I like the stainless.
I agree with the comments that the six-cup model can only make six really, really small cups. That's why they make espresso cups so small, and don't fill them but maybe half-full. Of course, if you use a six-cup to make two cups you're going to have some pretty wired guests . . .

"Very nice.", I love this pot. It is fast, very pretty and makes wonderful Espresso. Highly recommend.

"It's OK", Pros: Dishwasher safe, looks cute and not going to rust.

Cons: It is smaller (even it says 4-cup, it is smaller than the 3-cup aluminum version), and coffee flavor is not as intense as its aluminum cousin. If you use traditional ratio with milk for cappuccino, milk will overpower the flavor. It takes more coffee grind to make a decent espresso. It also takes longer to brew.

I was going to return it, but decided not to be too fussy over a cup of coffee. Life is more grand.

"Finally, enough expresso!", After our trip to Italy we got out our little beaten up 2-cup expresso maker in order to recreate those great breakfasts we had there. While it worked fine, it just didn't hold enough for breakfast for the two of us. The Bialetti solves that problem and looks great in the kitchen. We searched for a 4 cup expresso maker in Dallas but couldn't find one with the looks and capacity of the Bialetti. Thanks Amazon.com!

"Pays for itself first week!", No More Starbucks. This pot is wonderful! Anyone who is hesitating shouldn't waste your time giving it a second thought. BUY THIS POT. It's easy to use. I like the fact that I can use any coffee I want. I agree with the previous positive comments. My only problem is that I have to buy another one, since now my entire family wants to drink the coffee from this pot. I hope they make a larger size.

"Smooth Espresso with no Worries", I need not add to the many very good accounts of the fine espresso produced by this pot. I will add, however, a couple of items. First, take seriously the instructions to grind the coffee fine (not x-fine) and not to tamp the grounds. Just run your finger across the top of the grounds and knock off the excess. Also, several studies of aluminum toxicity in the body suggest a connection between elevated levels of aluminum and alzheimer's (search these terms and you should be convinced), so please, spend a few extra bucks and buy the stainless version--they work well.

"Great espresso pot!", My wife and I love the coffee that this pot makes. It is vey easy to use and the coffee comes out delicious every time. You just can't get this kind of tasting coffee from any other coffee maker. Highly recommended. We are thinking to buy another one in a smaller size as well.

"Economic & Easyish Espresso @ Home", First of all I would like to note a few things about the company that I purchased this item through: J&R Music World. While my moka pot did arrive in little time, the condition of it was disappointing. I'm pretty sure that the one I received was a return from someone else because there was molded/burt coffee marks on the inside and stuck to the rings where you screw the two pieces together. This was pretty freaking GROSS, but I cleaned it up and it looks mostly good as new...except for a spot that I could not get entirely cleaned. They need to check their products more thoroughly when returned. GRR. But I did not want to go through the trouble of returning it and waiting for a new one, because I wanted to make some espresso!! Oh, and as someone else mentioned, it is, in fact, made in INDIA and not Italy. Very misleading.

This said, I really like the moka pot. I've gotten numerous compliments on its beauty. And as far as making espresso, it has been quite easy. Just follow the instructions that come with it, plain and simple. The six "cup" makes enough for my roommate and I to have two-three shots each. I use the Illy blend for moka pots and it is pretty good. I am gonna try out some others after it is gone though, cuz it ended up costing $18 for one little can (w/ s&h). I also purchased a hand/wand milk frother and tomorrow I'm gonna try my luck at cappuccinos...exciting!! Make sure you take apart every piece of the pot for cleaning, so that coffee grinds or liquid don't get stuck anywhere and mold...it will affect how your espresso tastes and is hard to clean off after the fact.
