"Senseo: Great Machines, Horrible Coffee"
I got one of these directly from Senseo as part of a promotion where I was supposed to share the product with friends and family. After my first few cups of Senseo coffee (included) I don't think they would've wanted me to be sharing my opinion with friends and family. Following some suggestions in other reviews here and elsewhere I tried getting some different brands of pods online. This made a HUGE improvement. I now have quick, easy, and delicious coffee. Additionally, most of the pods I found will make a full 8 oz with only one pod so you don't have to go through two pods for every normal sized mug of coffee. It's still not quite up to a freshly ground cup of premium coffee which I prefer when I have the time to deal with all the prep and cleaning of the normal coffee maker, but is great when I'm running late or need a quick caffeine fix before I can even function. My only complaint at this point is that the included reservoir only holds 20 oz, but they have a larger replacement available that I'm considering. If you're looking for something to make a quick cup of tasty coffee, I'd recommend this product but only with non-Senseo pods!

"Great Value"
This thing is awesome! Good coffee quick! Little clean up and very convenient. I like the senseo brand coffee, but I would not consider myself a connoisseur. To get a large cup of coffee you need to use the 2 pod holder. I purchase the pods from Amazon and it ends up costing approx $2 per large cup of coffee. For the price paid ($38) this thing is the best money I have spent to date.

"bon cafe"
the senseo coffeemaker make the best coffee. I owe one for over 5 years and my family too, who lives in belgium owe theire for about 7 years. I love the coffee, it is ready in no time and always hot and fresh.

"Don't use pods - They're a rip off"
I love my senseo - but I also like the convenience of using whatever coffee I want in it.
Since I don't like ordering coffee online and paying shipping, I was reduced to figuring out how to make my own pods.

All you have to do is buy regular sized (4 cup) filters, and cut them down with scissors until their circumference is 5 and a half inches across. You can cut about 10 at a time. Once that is done, press one into the pod holder. You choose how much strength you want: Have your favorite coffee ground to your choice of fineness. (This will vary depending on how strong you like your coffee. Me: I like it strong so I use a superfine grind and the double pod holder) Pack the coffee with something flat and fold over the filter with your hands. Don't worry, you won't have coffee bits in your coffee because they can't really flow through the pod holder anyways. Turn it on- You'll have great coffee with a creamy top in a few seconds.

"senseo coffee pot"
I love the coffee maker, although I don't exactly love that it only makes 1-2 cups per "session." A warning to new users would be to make sure the pods are properly aligned and that the top part closes completely before you turn it on, otherwise you'll end up with coffee all over your counter!

What our customer's say!

"Senseo white coffee maker", We used one of the Senseo coffee makers while we were renting an apartment in Paris this summer. I was hooked, and wanted to buy one when we arrived back in the states. I love this coffeemaker. It is quick, and it makes a great cup of coffee. I would recommend it to my friends.

"this coffe maker is awesome", I use it usually several times a day. It makes great coffee and the espresso coffee is also very good. I also use it all the time to make cups of noodles or hot chocolate and the fact that it doesn't have a hot plate technically makes it ok to have if you are in college and live in a dorm.

"Senseo Coffee Maker", This is our second unit. We had one in our home and also had to have one in our 5th wheel trailer for use on the road away from home (to much trouble moving one around, LOL). Best price we found was here on Amazon.

"Good purchase", Very convenient, however even after flushing it, putting the washable parts in the dishwasher, etc there was a noticeable 'plastic' taste for the first week. It seems to have gone away now but that was disappointing. It's also a bit noisy but a small price to pay for the easy to use features and the speed and ease that I can now make a cup of coffee quickly with no clean-up.

"One of the best pod coffemakers", This is my second Senseo Single-Serve Coffemaker and I am so happy that I also chose the extra large water container as it really does save on refilling every time you make a couple of cups of coffee.

I have never had a problem with either the first or the second coffeemaker. Some reviewers don't care for the flavor of the Senseo Coffee Pods but we like the flavor and haven't had any quests' complaints.

I flush out the coffeemaker every couple of months with vinegar because we have hard water. The only suggestion I would make from my experience in using coffee pods is when I tried to substitute other brand coffee pods that stated they could be used on the Phillips Senseo Coffeemaker, water leaked during the brewing process. I don't know if it was because the pod didn't fit correctly or why it happened. I eventually went back to using the Senseo coffee pods and had no further leaking problems.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"leaky seal", I excited about this product. After only a few uses, it began to leak water out of the top of the unit when operating, I wasted many expensive coffee pods. I have contacted customer service at Phillips who have promised to replace the unit weeks ago, I have yet to receive the replacement.

"I love it! I love it! I love it! Perfect for the whole family!", I just got this product and I really love it! You can have 2 4oz. coffee mugs or 1 8oz. coffee mug. I really love the froth that comes out on top of the coffee. I make ice coffee most of the time, but I do make hot coffee as well. I don't like the Senseo coffee pods that come with it (Really tastes Nasty)! I love the Melitta coffee pods (that I bought off of Ebay) and I am going to try the Java Podz next. My parents like the Melitta coffee pods also (It was a better taste, my favorite so far is Hazelnut). I recommend the Senseo Single Serve Coffee Maker for the whole family or small get-togethers. Please just don't get the Senseo coffee pods. I really recommend that you try the other coffee pods as they are much better.

"Does the job", I bought this Senseo machine a couple of months ago, thinking it might be a cheaper, convenient way to have coffee at work using my own mugs. I thought correctly. It's not great coffee, but neither is the $2 a cup stuff from Dunkin Donuts. Yes, the machine is loud while making coffee, but I don't care. It's not like it's loud for 20 minutes! I see it as a way to tell when my coffee is ready to drink.

For maintenance, I wipe it down every day, prime it once a week on Mondays, and give the parts a good scrub once a week. I can't imagine that priming it every day would make the coffee taste that much better. I do love great coffee, and I make some great coffee at home, but I'm not willing to go through all that at the office. This machine works just fine and does exactly what I bought it for.

"PRIME it ONE TIME! PODS cost TOO much...", well, one reviewer thought you had to PRIME it every day....

that was his bane. actually, it's SO easy to use. if you buy the DARK roast, at least it tastes like a decent cup of coffee. don't by mild or it will taste like old percolated coffee. or worse.

my wife loves it and this was her introduction to coffee! easy for her to use.

but MY MAIN PROBLEM is the POD expense.

no, no, the ECOPODS don't help. a hassle to load. and even the finest coffee in the world just doesn't taste all that great.

the SENSEO is quite convenient.

but it's a matter of diminishing returns if you want a SUPERB gourmet cup of joe.

love the foam, but....i'd actually rather keep doing THE best way to brew a cup: the MELITTA method

:)

"Coffee When I want it!", Let me just say that I have had this model for a couple of years and have never had a problem with it. It does not leak. It does make a perfect 4oz or 8oz cup of coffee with crema. In fact, I am off to get a cup now.
