"Very nice item" The quality of the product seems high. Haven't owned it for long but it's working out great so far and the "unbreakable" tag has already been tested once or twice. "NOTE ACTUAL SIZE! (It's tiny.)" I don't know where they get off calling this product "3-Cup". It holds literally less than two US standard cups. For me it brews a little less than one mug full of tea or coffee. "Tiny" I know, I know, people keep saying read the amount it holds and don't complain about its size, but I am, it holds about 1 1/2 cups of tea at best. Otherwise it seems to work well and it is a good price. "12 US fluid ounces = 1.5 US cups, not 3-Cup" The term "Cup" by BonJour Hugo is in reference to "Espresso Cups" not American "Coffee Cups" of which it will fill approximately 3/4 of one. American "COFFEE" drinkers should look to the 8-Cup model so you can poor Two cups (Confused yet?). Questionable advertising aside, the BonJour Hugo Unbreakable lives up to its name. I've dropped it, Microwaved it, and have been using it for a few weeks now. The Press does its job admirably and the secondary filter located in the lid will ensure your cup remains ground free for years to come. "Makes the best coffee!" I bought this for my sister, but I also have one. It makes the best coffee. Even plain, store-brand beans, make a wonderful, rich cup of coffee. I will never drink coffee from the regular coffee maker again. Some people think it's a lot of trouble to boil water first, grind beans (which I do), then wait for the hot water to steep the coffee before pressing, but it is well worth it. Those people just don't know a good cup of coffee when they taste one! I recommend a French coffee press to anyone who is serious about their coffee.

What our customer's say! "Great coffee, but mine didn't last", This makes great coffee. However, after less than 6 months of less than once per day use the plastic screen holder on the bottom of the plunger is falling apart. "Great little coffee press", This press is perfect for one person. I love the unbreakable aspect, and the price is hard to beat. "I'll Never Break A French Press Again!", How many of the people reading this have broken a French Press? I've certainly broken at least 4 or 5, and the cost adds up quickly at $20 a pop. Being a grower of coffee (Kona) and a coffee purist, I was VERY skeptical of plastic. I ran some medium roast through the little device and was impressed by the taste of my coffee. It must be high-density plastic or something that doesn't taint the flavor. Delish! I'd recommend this gadget to anyone who travels, breaks French Presses, or drinks any coffee or tea. Basically everyone. "Not worth it", I wish I had known what they meant by three cups, because it certainly did not hold three 8 oz. cups of coffee. In fact it wouldn't even fill the 12oz. mug that I use for my breakfast cup of coffee. "Cold Coffee and NOT a 3 Cup French Press", Whomever said that this should be considered a "3 cup" French Press must have been living in a different time and space dimension because this most certainly did not put forth more than 1 cup of coffee! I am a faithful Bodum French Press consumer who is used to glass French Presses. The plastic of this Hugo model might be "unbreakable," but it also allows the coffee to get cold more quickly. It has helped that I have wrapped the press with a tea towel, however, this is a tedious thing to do every time. I am not happy with this purchase and would not recommend this to staunch coffee afficiandos. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "Quick and Easy", For an inexpensive Press, this works great. It's fast and the coffee tastes better than out of my coffee maker. It takes less than 5 minutes to make 2 cups of coffee and cleanup is quick. "Not quite as smooth as glass, but still great", Since this is an unbreakable press pot, it involves a rubber gasket that encircles the filter. This can increase the friction (and force required) to depress the lever while straining your coffee or tea. However, it is easy to clean, and has a built in strainer and splash guard, which more than make up for this inconvenience. I have not had any problems with the gasket coming off (which is really the only drawback I've found to the plastic kind). It should also be known that the base can be removed but the handle cannot. Lastly, to prevent any confusion, this "3 Cup" French press holds three 4-oz servings, not 36-oz. It is ideal for individual use, or for two people (though I suppose it could be rinsed between uses for more than two people). "a bit small", The press is a bit smaller than i expected, truly a one cup (not mug) coffee press. It does work well, it's sturdy, and exactly as pictured. "Excellent", I wanted a small French Press style coffee maker as I would be the only person using it. I wanted something that wasnt too heavy and wouldnt break. Then I wanted it cheap but good quality. I looked at the Bodums but this one seemed to fit my needs the best. So I bought it! It has worked fine for me. I was surprised at how small it was but that hasnt been a problem. It makes enough for about a full cup of coffee. The coffee is good. I havent had a problem with grounds getting into my cup. The strainer on the filter and the little strainer that slides over the spout do a good job. The coffee tastes good. Its small enough to be put out of the way when not being used. I am happy with it and dont regret my purchase. Recommended if your looking for a small French Press. "OK but could be better", I don't actually use mine for coffee. I have only made tea with it. Pros: Plastic, which means I won't scratch it or break it! (This is especially important because when I am not awake I can be a bit clumsy) 13oz - this works well for me because with milk, it is one 16 oz mug. that's usually a good amount for me for the day Cons: I like the Bodum press mechanism better. It uses the strainer pressed against the side rather than the rubber seal on this one. My tea, and I imagine, other peoples' coffee grinds can get through the seal when you press down on it because it is pretty soft My tea leaves have a tendency of getting stuck in the press when I strain it. It washes away pretty easily but I'd prefer if they didn't stick at all. It doesn't fit under my water boiler. I have a Sunbeam Hot Shot and this is about a 1/4" too tall to get under it. Therefore, I have to dispense it from my Hotshot into a cup, then pour it into the press and then strain and pour into my real cup. I know, this is a pretty small concern and pretty insignificant to most people but that's one more cup for me in the morning! |
