Others say...
"Very good coffee maker; would buy again" Pros: Makes good tasting coffee Attractive Not too big Relatively speedy in making coffee Cons: Doesn't keep coffee hot enough long enough for my tastes Bottom line: Coffee plenty big for a 2-3 drinkers and a squeeze for a large party. But room is at a premium on our counters so this one works well. If the carafe can hold the heat longer, this would be a 5-star unit. I would buy again. "Great Basic Machine - Actually 4.5 Stars" I've had this machine for over two years, use it every day, and it's easily the best coffee maker I've ever had (and I've had a LOT of coffee makers). I love the thermal carafe. I can take it wherever I need it so I don't have to keep running back to the maker. I don't need a timer or other bells or whistles, so some of the others' complaints are moot for me. This would be a 5 star machine if the carafe held more, and the opening was big enough to get my hand in to clean it. Summary: Pros: Thermal carafe Simple design/operation Big water tank opening Short enough to fit under my overhead cabinets Fast brew time Cons: Small carafe capacity Carafe opening too small to get hand in to clean pot "Beware: Beauty is Only Skin Deep" This is one great looking coffeemaker! And it worked well for me...for about 6 months. Made in Germany, it reminds me of Mercedes Benz cars: it looked great and worked great when new. But over time (not that much time, actually), it became trouble prone. Last week I threw it in the trash. I have no complainst whatsoeveer about how well it worked. I will miss it. The durable carafe keeps coffee warm without electricity for most of the day. And it's easy to use. But one morning about one month after I bought it, I returned to the kitchen to get my cup of java, and there were coffee grounds and coffee all over the counter. Seems the door opened itself during the brewing cycle. The next morning, the same thing happend. Then, I had a great idea: Put a Velcro strap on it to keep it closed. I went to the hardware store, and it worked! Unfortunately, though, not for long. About 6 months later, a tiny fragile piece broke off the part that holds the coffee. Now, the pot's useless, because the grounds just fall out. I hope Braun engineers do better on future products. This one's going to the dump. "Braun KF600 Impressions 10-Cup Thermal Coffeemaker" This coffemaker works well; basic unit - very basic. In my opinion; it's missing a few items (for convenience - such as, clock for auto-start, and a larger caraf for more coffee at one time). Otherwise, like the filter and the easy access to the grounds area - easy clean-up too. Worth the purchase. "Well built, good coffee, absurdly expensive replacement water filter" This is a well built coffee maker that should last a long time. The coffee has good taste. As other reviewers have noted, the carafe is not heated. I find the coffee is just the rigth temperature for me when it is first brewed. The carafe retains the heat reasonably well for a short time. However, my wife complains that it is too cold for her later in the morning. I bought her a Thermos product last year which keeps her coffee hot for hours. For some reason, Braun's carafe doesn't do nearly as well. So she just zaps the coffee in the microwave to warm it up. On the other hand, because the coffee isn't sitting on a hot plate, it doesn't caramelize and get that stale taste of old coffee that's been heated too long just to keep it warm. Also the carafe is not dishwasher safe, so it has to be hand washed. The water filters are very expensive. I assumed (wrongly) they were standard Brita filters that could be bought anywhere. On Amazon a pack of 2 filters for this coffee maker cost $65, which is an absurdly high price for 2 filters. I found other online locations that had them at one point, but they are are out of stock everywhere. It seems odd they are so hard to find, and that may explain whey they are so expensive on Amazon.

What our customer's say! "Terrible customer service at P&G/Braun", I was very pleased with this coffeemaker for the first two months. Unfortunately, the carafe fell on the floor shortly thereafter and the handle broke off. I called P&G at 1-800-BRAUN-11 and originally was told that a replacement carafe would be shipped to me free of charge. Several weeks later, I received a letter stating that I'd need to order a carafe on my own since it was not, in fact, covered under warranty. I did so through a third party in March. It is now August and the product is still on back order. I canceled the order and called P&G again to find out if there is another way to get a carafe short of buying an entirely new coffeemaker. I was told that Braun is no longer distributing in the U.S. but I could order a carafe through a "foreign company." She also directed me to E-bay! I will never buy another Braun product because of their poor customer service. "Better than most", I am pretty happy with the Braun KF600. I bought it based on other reviews I read here on amazon.com. I like that it's easy to use and the fact that it comes with the thermal carafe. I also like that it came with an optional water filter. I put it in, but if I decide not to use it, I don't have to (just take it out and put in the plastic, mock filter). I am a bit disappointed that it doesn't keep the coffee hot for longer and it shuts itself off only after about 10 minutes. Not a big deal because I can re-heat in the mircowave, but I was expecting the thermal carafe to make it so I didn't have to do that. It's kind of hard to clean inside the carafe because the opening is rather small. I have small hands too and my hand will get stuck. Again, not a huge problem. I just will have to buy a kitchen implement that will reach down inside. Also, make sure you don't keep it under a counter when you turn it on because steam comes out through the filter part pretty heavy. I'd almost forgotten about this. I've never had a coffee maker that did this and I have to say this is the most disappointing thing about the coffee maker. I'm used to keeping ours under the overhead cupboards but I can't do that anymore. A no frills coffee maker that hopefully will last longer than our last one (the glass carafe was so thin that it kept breaking and the company would only replace it for free one time). It's not as wonderful as the reviews I read made it sound, but it's not bad either. "My only issue is this DOES LEAK! ", I purchased this item at Macy's in 2006. I wanted a thermal carafe and a simple, functional, pretty design. This product delivered it all and I liked the bonus of filtered water. (You can easily find these filters at Bed, Bath, Beyond) Within a year, I noticed that water DOES LEAK from the base at times. At night I fill it up in order to just click it on in the morning. Sometimes, there is water all over my counter in the morning. That along with the fact that it does not make a full 10 cup pot...that if you fill it to 10 cups it WILL pour out the top after brewing. I can't believe Braun made such a thing! However, I still use it because it still works. I like the size/shape of it and that the carafe doesn't break and keeps coffee warm for many hours. It's really quite a lovely, ergonomic design! But I gotta say, I am VERY disappointed about the leaks (random) and misleading about brewing a full 10 cups. I would not buy this item unless I was guaranteed it wouldn't leak. Seems Braun didn't improve on it, so BEWARE! "Thermal Carafe Makes All The Difference", We had a coffee maker that if the coffee sat for 15 minutes it started tasting burnt so I did my research and found this Braun Impressions Coffee maker with thermal carafe. The carafe makes all the difference in the world. Just pour the water in, put your coffee in, turn on and wait for steaming hot coffee. It tastes fresh and hot for at least 2 hours. The coffee maker will automatically turn off after about 15 minutes. The coffee maker comes with its own permanent filter but we add a paper filter too because it catches the slight bit of silt that seems to pass through when just using the permanent filter. This is not a programmable model so you can't set it the night before but all you have to do is flip the switch and it starts making coffee. It doesn't take long and the coffee seems fresher if the grounds haven't been sitting all night anyway. It takes and comes with a water filter. Filtered water makes all the difference in taste and maintenance of your machine. In a year and a half of owning the machine , I have never had to clean the machine itself. Usually with regular water a coffee maker will start getting mineral deposits and stop working as efficiently but the filter makes all the difference. We have been very, very pleased with our purchase. We haven't encountered any problems with it and it has produced piping hot coffee every morning. "Good coffee maker", I'm glad I bought this Braun coffeemaker with the thermal carafe. The coffee is the best I've had for a long time, and if pre-heated the carafe keeps it warm for a few hours. The one draw-back is the size of the carafe and the amount of coffee it makes. I'd prefer a larger pot - at least 12 to 14 cups. It amazes me that the manufacturing community thinks a cup is 4 or 5 ounces. What nonsense! I have had two overflows, both of which were operator error. The first, I filled the tank from measuring cups and not from the carafe. You have to be careful about that, as the marking for 10 on my tank is higher than if I fill the carafe to the top. When I did that, I had about a ½ cup overflow. The second time, I didn't position the carafe properly, and again - overflow. Aside from the size of the carafe, though, I am very happy with this Braun. It is the first Braun I have purchased, and if this is indicative of their quality, I'm likely to buy another Braun product in the future. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Does everything right", I have tried several insulated carafe coffee makers and have never been satisfied. This one changed my mind. It does everything well. One of the reasons it is such a success is that it does not have a lot frills. It doesn't grind beans (so you don't have messy prep or clean up). It doesn't have a timer so you don't have to worry about malfunctioning electronics. It DOES quickly make 10 cups of great coffee that pours from the carafe without spilling on your table. Way to go BRAUN. "This is an exact replacement", For us, this is close to a perfect machine - it avoids paper filters which soak up the oils that contribute the sublety to coffee taste, and it holds coffee warm for long periods without continuing to cook it. We replaced a two year old pot with exactly the same model, after researching it through again. We don't rate it a 4 or 5 for two reasons. A twelve cupper would be better for us, rather than 10. Also, the previous pot's heater failed mysteriously. When we flipped the machine over to open it up to look for a fault, we discovered very strange plastic fasteners that are not obvious to work. The old pot is sitting in the garage waiting for a rainy day to try and decode, so we can get in to it to repair it. So, 10 cup rather than 12, unexpected burnout at 2 years, no obvious way for the consumer to get into the guts. "Very Good Coffeemaker!", Overall, I like my Braun KF600 coffeemaker because it makes excellent coffee that stays hot for at least a couple hours and warm for quite a few hours afterwards. I use both pre-ground coffee and whole coffee beans which I grind with a Braun coffee bean grinder that I had for quite a few years (and holding up great!). While the coffee filters is not the standard Mr. Coffee style, they are easy to find in supermarkets. My only complaint is that the door that holds the coffee filter seems to open a little bit too easy - an accidental bump could spring it open. "Had to Return", This Braun coffeemaker had a defective on/off switch. Never could try it because it would not stay on. Returned it for refund. "Excellent coffee maker", Very pleased with coffee maker. It's stylish and easy to use. The stainless steel carafe keeps coffee hot for at least 2 hrs You can't go wrong buying this. ![]() |
