"Roomba works great and easy to use, but poor customer support"
I bought this for my wife as a present. When she opened up the package her reaction was disappointment and disbelief. "You got me a robot? I hope you're going to use it!" I fully expected to have to be the one using our Roomba, forever, but this little guy grows on you. After seeing him in action she has warmed up and uses him on a regular basis. We have 4 cats and they basically steer clear of Roomba while he is doing his thing.

Although this is really advanced technology at work, using the product is as easy as it gets. You simply make sure his battery is fully charged, put him in the middle of the room you want to start with and press two buttons. The work is not in the Roomba, but preparing the room(s) you want him to clean. When you are vacuuming yourself, you can get away with shifting objects around while you are doing the job; Roomba can't do that. You've got to go over each room to try to make it as easy as possible for Roomba to do a good job, moving chairs to another room, moving the couch so he can get behind it, etc. Roomba really shines with his ability to slip under furniture you would never get when vacuuming by hand.

My one complaint so far is that our Roomba's voice has failed and we have only had him for 4 months. (Normally he beeps at you when the dust bin is full or when finished.) iRobot's customer support is R E A L L Y S L O W. I reported the sound failure and it took them 5 days to get back to me saying that to solve the problem I could do a trade for a refurbised unit. They then asked me a lot of questions, some of which I had already answered when filling out the original trouble ticket. It has been 5 days since then and I still don't know how/when I will be able to trade for a fully working model.

""Little red lights up my life""
Am pleased with this produce, above my expectations, service good, but would like to ask why statement of billing not included, it is not my intention to pay any finance charges or late fees for any of my purhases.
Sincerely James Sprague

"Great little helper"
Does a great job. Does not replace a regular vacuum though unless you're ok with it taking a while to clean your house. Well worth the $.

"Good Vacuum AND Amusement Device"
Not only is this a handy little vacuum, it's an endless source of amusement. We have two chihuahuas who just go crazy every time we run it, dashing around chasing it and making it change course by getting in its way.

Seriously, the vacuum is effective and very handy for the too busy (or too lazy) housekeeper, but I'd buy it again, even if it weren't, strictly as a dog exerciser!

"Robotic Vacuum - Red."
This is a wonderful little "helper". It does such an excellent job I now "vacuum" my carpeting more often than I did when I had drag out and push my old vacuum. I believe my home is now cleaner and healthier because of this machine.

I am seriously thinking of purchasing one for my daughter for her birthday since it doesn't cost "an arm and a leg" as I previously thought.

Thank you.

What our customer's say!

"Don't be skeptical", This is a really great product. The only reason I hadn't bought one before was the price point. After two weeks of twice a day use, I wish I'd have bought one sooner.

We have a multi-level house with tile, carpet, and wood floors. We also have two black labs that come inside at least weekly and three kids, so our floors need constant cleaning. This vacuum was the best investment. We can set it to clean one level while doing laundry or dishes and in thirty minutes, the floors are clean. After a couple of hours on the charger, the light is green and we can vacuum another level. It's been a HUGE time saver.

Pros: It really does what it advertises -- cleans automatically with no human interference. Relatively quiet (much quieter than a regular vacuum) especially on carpets. Battery runs for about 45 to 60 minutes, so it can clean two average sized rooms (about 900 sf) on a single charge. Goes in between chair legs, and under end tables where a stand up vacuum can't. Sturdy! Fell down our stairs twice without a dent or ding.

Cons: As with all vacuums, you need to clean up loose items, toys, shoes, etc. before you clean. With the Roomba, you have to watch out for things that you can avoid with a manual vacuum that the Roomba won't (i.e. cords, tassels, etc.) It tries to avoid stairs, but noses over a little and occasionally, it will fall off if it can't get good enough traction to back away. We use the virtual wall to keep it away from the stairs.

"iRobot", I wasn't sure if I would like this or not but it is great. It easily goes from hardwood floors to carpeting and does a good job on both surfaces. I just run it in one or two rooms a day and recharge it. If there is a drawback it would be that it isn't quiet so I turn it on when no one is watching TV or radio in that particular room. Even my dog has accepted it. Now I am tempted to try the floor scrubber. I also worried it would tumble down the stairs but it senses the stairs and turns around....what will we have next?

"should be great ", I ordered this red Roomba in February 2008. It worked well for about 3 weeks and then the brush stoped turning. I cleaned everything and when that did not work I called iRobot support and they sent me a new one. The next one lasted 2 weeks and started just going in circles and beeping. The carpet the Roomba was cleaning was not shag and not very dirty and I cleaned the Roomba after every use. Very poor quality product. Its also almost completely made from hard plastic, so one good drop could break it.

"Maybe it's just not for me...", I got this as a Christmas gift and was very disappointed. It seemed to only pick up small amounts of dirt (leaving visable dirt behind) and was constantly getting "stuck" under the sofa and loveseat. It became such a pain that I returned it and got another regular vacuum cleaner.

"Not available", My husband ordered this for me a week before Mother's Day and it's over a month past. He had to track down the company a few times to find out what was up with the order and finally got a reply saying that they were having issues with the manufacturer. As of May 30, 2008, this item is NOT IN STOCK!!! Don't buy it unless you want to wait.

"Cool device, works well for me. ", I've been using the iRobot for about 6 months now, so I thought I'd pass along my thoughts. I'd give this product a thumbs up. Let me preface that; if you think that you can buy an iRobot and never have to vacuum again, dream on. We haven't reached the Jetsons era yet. You will still have to vacuum occasionally. And the round iRobot doesn't fit in corners so you'll have to do that manually too. That said, this device would save you some time overall. My house is indeed cleaner most of the time. It works great for my kitchen especially, but I use it for the other rooms too. It's got good suction, and is REALLY great for going under beds and other spots one can't reach with a normal vacuum. It certainly cuts down on the cat hair floating around my house.
My gripes are few and minor: the filter compartment is pretty small and it has to be cleaned after every other use. And yes, some throw rugs will throw the iRobot for a loop, but it usually manages to reverse itself and get undone. So move `em. Yeh, you have to clear the floor off for best results, but you really have to do that for a regular vacuum cleaner too if you want to do a good job. The iRobot is a little noisy, but what vacuum cleaner isn't?
The iRobot is a great conversation piece. Kids love it, and cats are fascinated by it (yes, you can follow them with the remote control, which is otherwise useless). I've had NO reliability problems at ALL. The iRobot is not a must-have, but if you have a busy schedule and can't always vacuum, here's a little slave that will be happy to do it for you!

"iLOVE MY iROBOT ROOMBA", I DON'T KNOW HOW I EXISTED BEFORE PURCHASING MY ROOMBA. BEFORE I USED IT THE FIRST TIME I VACUUMED AND STEAM MOPPED MY TERRAZO FLOORS AND THOUGHT THEY WERE VERY CLEAN. I THEN LET ROOMBA DO HIS THING AND I WAS AMAZED AT HOW MUCH HE ACTUALLY PICKED UP AFTER MY CLEANING. THE FLOOR EVEN FELT CLEANER TO MY BAREFEET. NONE OF THE GRITTY DUST FEELING YOU USUALLY HAVE BETWEEN CLEANINGS. I HAVE 2 CATS-SHORTHAIR-AND EVEN THOUGH YOU COULDN'T SEE ANY CAT HAIR ON THE FLOOR BEFORE ROOMBA CLEANED THE AMOUNT THAT WAS PICKED UP WAS UNBELIEVABLE. THIS MODEL IS A GREAT ONE FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO TRY IT WITHOUT SPENDING A LOT OF MONEY. ONCE YOU TRY IT YOU WILL BE HOOKED. I AM NOW GOING TO ORDER THE CHARGING BASE FOR HIM AND AM SAVING UP MY MONEY TO GET THE SCOOBA NEXT. IT IS A LITTLE NOISY BUT I TURN IT ON IN THE MORNING WHEN I GO TO WORK SO I DON'T HEAR IT ANYWAY AND IT IS FINISHED WHEN I ARRIVE HOME TO NICE CLEAN FLOORS.

"Cute but disapointing", I am quite demanding because I have allergies and little time. Roomba is cute (makes cute noises) but in terms of cleaning it has been disapointing.

You should empty it each time you use it or it can make your room dirtier than when it started.

It does not save time bacause I spend the same amount of time arranging the room so that it does not get stuck under furniture or in cords.

It can be frustrating because she goes over dirt/dust and does not clean it straight away so once I found myself guiding it towards the places it needed to clean most... yes it can drive you nuts.

I can imagine plenty of men buying this for their wives because it is a gadget that makes cute noises. I think we ladies are a bit more demanding...

"LOVE IT!", I love this. I've used it 3 or 4 times and it's running now as I write this. This model is at the low end of the product line but who needs all the bells and whistles. It picks up much more dirt than I expected and am always surprised when I dump the dirt bin. I would recommend this to anyone, especially those over the age of 60.

"My favorite household chore", iRobot Roomba Intelligent Floorvac Robotic Vacuum, Red

I absolutely adore the Roomba. It's a bit louder than I would have liked (sounds almost like a regular vacuum), but it does an excellent job at cleaning my floors, both hard wood, tile and carpet. Seems to be picking up more dust than my old vacuum did, so that's a plus. I really bought the Roomba to clean my floors in between my regular vacuuming schedule, but I have now thrown out my old vacuum. I just really didn't need it anymore. It picks up long hair well, I don't have pets so I can't speak of pet hair from personal experience, but heard that it does well on this too. Yes, it's a small unit, so you should clean it after each use. I have a small 1 bedroom, and it cleans my entire apartment without needing to be emptied in between rooms. For larger rooms, you may want to empty the Roomba in between rooms, but I say see how it goes. I love the fact that I can run to the store, or cook dinner while it cleans my apartment. Talk about multi-tasking! I haven't had it for long, so I'm still not comfortable leaving it for several hours. I'm sure it will be fine, but I'm just nervous about that.

I recommend the Roomba to everyone!
