"pressure cooker" I love this pressure cooker. I've never had one, but feel safe with this one. I really like having the smaller pot with the set, for making small batches of food. I highly recommend it. It's very easy to use. "Loving it!" With the second generation model of pressure cooker out today and the busy lifestyle of the modern American I can't imagine why products such as these are not more popular. I've wanted a pressure cooker for quite some time but didn't want to spend the money, until last week. The time savings on making the dishes that my family and I love are incredible. Sure, I've seen my Grandmother and Indian folks use pressure cookers for ages but it just never sunk in how much time I was truly saving. I love having the option to use the 4 or 6 quart as I didn't want a larger model for dishes I was only making for a couple of people but like to occasionally cook in bulk so that I can freeze items. All in all, highly recommended. Mine came in the mail a couple days ago without any issues and is cooking beautifully. "Easy to Use!" This is the easiest pressure cooker I have ever used. I love not having the little jiggley thing on top -- you know, the disc that is easy to lose and maim. Nothing like that here -- all is integrated into the lid. I also like having two sizes of pressure cooker in one set, and the versatility of having a glass lid for times when the pressure cooker top isn't needed. Another great feature is the two available levels of pressure. I mostly use pressure cookers to cook dried beans, and it is a dream -- garbanzo beans in 10 minutes! "I love it" I bought it for my wife, and she's been looking for one for a long time till we finally decided on this one, and it works just great :) "Great multi purpose set." After doing a lot of research I found this to be the best pressure cooker for my needs. I am a single guy with not much room for pots and pans. This set up is perfect, you can pressure cook in either pot, or use them as regular cookware. I use the 4 quart as a frying/sauté pan. With the two pots, glass lid, and steamer basket this set can replace at least 80% of you cookware. The quality is way better than any other pots or pans I had before. Very even heating for sautéing. As far as actual pressure cooking goes I have had very good success with the meals I have prepared, but the cooking times listed in the manual seem to be shorter than it really takes. For instance a medium size artichoke takes about 20 minutes Fagor states it will take about 14 minutes. This product is excellent for shredded meats, steaming vegis, soups, and corned beef. I bought the Duo because of the low and high pressure options. I found that the low setting is useless not many recipes call for the low setting, so you may want to go with one of Fagors standard sets and save some cash. Another big plus is Fagors website, you can order just about any replacement parts you need there cheaper than anywhere else on the net.

The ability to cook beans in 10 minutes instead of 2 hours is a fantastic aid to both cooking and energy conservation. Most foods can be cooked in a pressure cooker. The only reason I've rated this set 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is made in China, and I've seen these in the store with broken handles, so the handles might be a little bit brittle. Otherwise, the quality seems excellent, and, as far as my own experience, I would recommend buying these right away before you waste more money and time on your cooking. "Parts keep breaking", We have bought a duo set in Bed Bath and Beyond. In less than a year the lower part of the handle broke, and the replacement costs around $15. It is now about 3 years that we own this pressure cooker and the valve has broken and it will cost me $16 to get a replacement part. I find it very annoying that such an expensive item keeps being costly over time. I guess it is great for Fagor to keep the money flow in, but they sell themselves as beeing Green, and therefore they should not use parts made to break every year or two!!!! Other than that, all the nice things written by other reviewers are true. "Excellent", I bought this pressure cooker about a month ago, and has been using this almost everyday. I cook rice, and it's so easy and quick. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "the best way to cook", i have been using a pressure cooker for many yrs now...i used to use one of those flimsy ones that whistle like crazy and always burn at the bottom. this pressure cooker cooks really evenly and it is so easy to open and close, fuss free. i recently made a wonderful chicken curry dish, and an indian lentil dish in my pressure cooker both under 20 minutes....its perfect i highly reccommend it to someone who is familiar with how to use a pressure cooker.... "Love my Fagor PC set", I bought this set because my husband had shot a deer in January and wanted something I could cook the venison in to make it tender. This Fagor pressure cooker is wonderful. The venison and everything else I have tried comes out delicious and quick and the meat is falling apart. I had never used a pressure cooker before but am enjoying using it. I am very satisfied with this Fagor product and with Amazon. "Use it 3 or 4 times a week.", We are very happy with the quality of this cookware and use it often. This was purchased to replace a Revere electric pressure cooker for which it is impossible to get parts. There was a brief learning curve, by switching to a stove top cooker from an electric. Getting the heat setting just right took some practice especially due to our stove being a ceramic top. Temperature changes (especially lowering the heat) take some time since the ceramic is slower to respond, but this has nothing to do with the pressure cooker. Having the option of using either the smaller or larger capacity bottom with the pressure cooker top is a nice bonus. "Great time-saver!", I bought this pressure cooker set about a month ago and I love it. I had never used a pressure cooker before I bought this set, but I find it easy to use and very safe. The set comes with a nice instruction book (with cooking times for lots of different food) and a small book of recipes. I like that I can cook brown rice in less time than it takes me to make white rice without a pressure cooker (about 20 minutes). I have successfully adapted a recipe for slow-roasted pulled pork to prepare it with sauce from scratch in less than an hour. As long as you're not looking for a crusty exterior, I think that you can make food of comperable quality as the oven or slow-cooker in a much shorter amount of time. I find the two pots very convenient for making different quantities of food. With the glass lid, they work very well for other tasks such as steaming veggies briefly. My only complaint about the set is that the insides of the pots are hard to get clean. Here are the directions for cleaning from the Fagor website: "Sometimes stains may build up inside your pressure cooker from normal everyday use. A good way to remove stains is to add equal parts lemon juice and water to your cooker and heat this liquid until hot. You can then use a nonabrasive sponge to remove the stains. Do not clean the cooker with any abrasive materials as this may damage the finish on your pressure cooker." "Great purchase.", I have been looking for a pressure cooker for quite awhile and after doing alot of comparisons, this is the set that I decided on. Since receiving it I have used it alot and I must say that I'm impressed with the quality and overall ease of cooking with this set. The flavors are just incredible. |
