Others say...

"Totally Inadequate packaging stories are all TRUE"
I can't believe it. I ordered one, and it arrived almost OK. The box was intact for the most part. When I opened the box and saw the THIN THIN, 1/2 inch foam they use to pack this thing, my heart sank.

Sure enough, the corner of the cooler was DENTED and the compressor was knocked out of its mounts. The compressor mounts were damaged as well.

I simply can't imagine this thing arriving at all without being damaged.

Oh, and the wine cooler isn't all that quiet. It's not as loud as an old fridge, but you can really hear the compressor run, and it shudders a bit when it turns on and off. Fine for the basement, not so great for a den or something.

"Nice Little Cooler"
The Sanyo 35 bottle wine cooler has met all of my expectations. It is a nice size, looks trim and neat and is very quiet. I am still fiddling with the temperature and I wish it had come with an internal thermometer, but it works very well and the slide out racks are very convenient.

"DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!"
This cooler arrived damaged in its hole-ridden, poorly packed manufacturer's box. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that shipping something this heavy without the proper box spells D A M A G E D goods. To add insult to injury, the cooler is missing a shelf. Jeff Bezos needs to add "common sense" to his X-mas wishlist because his shipping department is in great need of some!

"Don't waste your time"
This wine cooler qualified for free shipping. In this case I got what I paid for! Item arrived quickly but looked as though it had been dragged behind the delivery truck! It arrived in pieces. It clearly was not packaged properly and as a result it was sent back. I never got to see how it worked. I saw other's comments regarding poor packaging but I was sure Amazon would have noted the numerous returns/complaints and changed the packaging. Nope! Don't waste your time!!

"Broken and late"
I have never had a problem with a product before. This took 9 weeks to arrive and when it came, it was broken. It was packed horribly. The box was broken, the door to the refrigerator was ripped off and was uninstallable because parts were missing! The box clearly was not 'factory sealed' and had been re-assembled with packing tape. There were additional random pieces of broken black plastic floating around in the box. I will be returning it tomorrow. Overall, if zero stars were an option, this product would get it.

What our customer's say!

"Good value for the money.", Purchased mine from [..] Online. Arrived with no damage. Runs fine. Not designed for built-in application as it requires some space around it for ventilation. I framed in a niche under a breakfast bar which it slides into, and it looks built in. Does not have separate temp zones for reds & whites, but chills nicely. Very quiet. Interior light nice. Had it for 6 months. Guests are impressed when I bring a bottle out of a built-in looking wine cooler. Made an almost inaccessible undercounter corner very useful. Very pleased!

"Will be Delivered damaged!", Come on...you think after all the returns and reviews that they would have figured this out. I will have to return this mangled mess and I cant see myself re-ordering. For what ever its worth it does look good other than the 7 huge chips out of the top and the internal broken hinges.
PS The box didnt have a scratch on it-Go figure!

"Arrived totally mangled", Yes, yes... all the stories ARE true! We too used overnight shipping to try to lessen the likelihood of receiving a mangled mess, and we received a mangled mess. We had to send back the first one and wait for a second, slightly less damaged version to arrive.

"Poor packing, but overall satisfied", Despite reading all of the other scary reviews about receiving units that were damaged in shipment, I decided to go ahead and order this. I was able to select next-day delivery for $3.99 (as an Amazon Prime subscriber), so I was hoping the fast delivery would lessen the chance of damage.

The unit arrived as scheduled via Fed-Ex next day air, and the box that the unit was in was in perfect condition. However, I still required the deliveryman to help me open the box so I could be sure there was no damage.

The unit had very little packaging around it ... just a bit of styrofoam on the corners of the unit. Pretty inadequate considering that it has a glass door and that parts of the refridgeration unit stick out a bit from the back. I did notice that there were some minor dents on one side (I doubt they happened in delivery), but you only notice them when the light shines on the side at a certain angle. After signing for the package and installing the unit, I also noticed that there is a bar at the back that is slightly bent which causes the cooler to be a little wobbly. I solved this to my satisfaction by putting a bit of cardboard at the appropriate point.

One other small note ... the shelves inside were taped to prevent movement during shipping, but whoever put the tape on did an incredibly sloppy job. Many of the pieces of tape didn't even touch the shelves, and there was one shelving unit that was loose and was rattling around during shipment.

I now have the unit set up in my dining room, and it has a very nice look to it. The unit just arrived a few hours ago, so I don't know how well the unit functions, but at this point I am very pleased with my purchase.

If you are thinking about ordering this unit, you are taking somewhat of a risk, although if it arrives undamaged I think it is a pretty good deal.

"Everything stated here is true", In spite of everything we read here, we indeed ordered this wine chiller as a wedding gift. (Thinking that surely after this many complaints, the company would have corrected the packaging problems.) Silly us - the unit arrived with a dent in the back side and a good-sized chunk out of the front door frame. The giftee said the entire unit was packed so poorly, it was literally rattling around inside the box.

We're not sure what good it will do to return this product (not to mention the hassle involved) as the replacement will obviously arrive in the same type of packaging and could be in even worse shape. The shame of it is this is an attractive unit that you should be proud to show off; instead, it's one that has to be hidden due to improper packaging and warrants a simple "DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT."

Read this reviews before You buy...

"I wasn't told about delays", This item shipped over a month later than I thought it would - at the time of purchase I wasn't even advised that the item was not in stock - basically I didn't have it on time in the summer when it was most needed. The product itself is fine but I was very disappointed with the service.

"Poor Packaging", I figured, no way...mine won't come damaged, but I was wrong...the motor had popped out of the back casing and the door was not level, thus not closing properly, and the sides were dented..too bad Sanyo can't invest in better packaging for what appears to be such a nice item...Amazon did arrange for return pickup and shipment by UPS

"Horrible packaging", I wish I listened to the previous review. The cooler was packaged (if you can call it that) in a box with maybe 1/4 inch of foam pads. Basically it arrived with its door broken off and some other pieces floating in the box. I've ordered heavy items before, but this is the first time I see it packaged so poorly. The cooler itself may be very good, but I am yet to see one shipped in a condition that is acceptable.

"Poor Shipping Container!! BEWARE", Beware if you order this item - I received the wine cooler in horrible shape. The shipping box is flimsy and was crushed and punctured. The box was left on my front doorstep so I did not get to look at it before it was dropped off.

The packing material was poor and the top of the unit being plastic was broken. Now, to get a replacement, I need to repack with the shredded packing materials and put it in the crushed box, and then bring it to UPS (all 60 pounds of it)! Amazon is providing the return shipping label.

I will think twice before ordering such a large and heavy item.
