Others say...
"Great Coffee Maker" I did not really enjoy coffee until I used this maker. I had a Senseo this coffee maker is so much better, hot,Fresh brewed coffee every day! "Many Great Features!" Purchased this about a month and a half ago, and have been using daily since. Love the capability of being able to grind coffee beans, brew ground coffee, and low and behold, also brew tea! While tea bags are plentiful and easy to use to fix a "spot of tea," loose tea is somewhat more of a challenge, and this unit is ideal since it has its own tea brewing basket. Great unit and really good price! "Careful with that carafe!!" This is kinda weird, I'm filling out a review before I've even received the coffee maker I've ordered but I did run into what I think is an important point to consider for prospective buyers. I think we have all broken one of these glass carafes that come with these types of coffee makers. Usually, it's a trip to some discount store and $8-10 later, Bob's your uncle. Not apparently so with this unit. This unit isn't one of the "major more widely known" brands of coffee makers. None of the usual discount stores in my town carried just the carafe. I did a quick online search for a replacement carafe and the best deal I could find shipped was $20. That's 1/2 the price of the whole coffee maker! Perhaps one of the other brands carafes might work as a replacement but since the filter assembly fits inside the top of the carafe with this unit, that complicates finding a like fit with an other than factory replacement carafe. I thoroughly expect to enjoy this unit and thusly gave it 4 stars as to not adversly skew the ratings but you can bet even more than I would normally do so, I am going to handle that "gold plated" carafe with kid gloves! Just an important point I think someone considering this coffee maker should consider. "works well for a few months" i thought i would add my 2 cents to people who want to buy this. i did a lot of research before i ordered it, it was the perfect combination of grind and brew and it worked very well for 3-4 months. however, lately it became really slow and i noticed that most of the water is evaporating as steam. so i guess it is overheating the water, but this is a fatal flaw, if u are making 6 cups, u may not even get 2, and it'll take 15-20 mins. "Buy the Melitta Mill 'N Brew Instead!" Melitta MEMB1B Mill & Brew 10-Cup Coffeemaker, Black We bought the Sanyo Coffee/Tea Maker with Built-in Grinder after our Melitta Mill & Brew finally broke. We had purchased it at a Target store and when we went to replace it, they no longer carried it. So we looked at all the options on Amazon and thought the Sanyo sounded like a better coffee maker. WRONG! It is messy, complicated and has too many parts. We went back to the Melitta Mill & Brew and we won't switch again! It is very affordable and you don't have to transfer the ground beans to make the coffee. You just put the beans in, push the button and it grinds and brews the coffee automatically. Do yourself a big favor and skip the Sanyo and go straight to the Melitta...I promise you won't regret it!

What our customer's say! "Most sensible coffeemaker yet.", After eyeing this product for over a year at a local retailer, I finally asked my children for one for Mother's Day this year. I make coffee about three times a week - in other words, I'm no addict or even particularly an aficionado - but I love this coffeemaker! Although the grinder is the simple sort, not burr type, it does well enough, and the removable grinder cup makes it a snap to keep clean. Unlike some combination grinder/brewers, there is no risk of steam ruining the grinding mechanism because the operations are well separated. The water well is easy to read and easy to fill, even without removing it from the body of the machine. It doesn't hurt either that there is a suggested guideline on how much water to add for iced coffee or tea. I actually like that the brewbasket fits into the carafe instead of being attached to the machine. This is a much cleaner design. The heating element does not turn itself off, so there might be old hot coffee, but never old cold coffee, unless you planned it that way. My only caution is regarding the #2 Medelco gold filter that so many users recommend. I just got mine in the mail and it is not a perfect fit. It definitely pops up. I really like the way this coffee maker looks, performs, and cleans up. Get your's through Amazon for the best price. "Geat little coffee maker for the money", I love this little coffee maker. After five years my Hamilton Beach brew station finally died and my best friend bought me this one. Sure it doesn't make iced tea, unelss you brew the tea, put it in a seperate container and add ice. Yes you have to grind the beans then put them in the filter yourself, but these to me are small inconveniences, compared to what delicious coffee and tea this machine makes. The charcoal filter really does enhance the coffees flavor and the smell of fresh ground and then brewed fresh ground coffee is great to me. I could have bought another brewstation and they are great also, but this does so much more and the coffee tastes incredible. I highly recommend the Sanyo Coffee/tea maker for the price it does do what it says, except for a few extra steps you have to take. If you're that lazy why not run out to Starbucks and buy a cup of coffee? For the money you're getting a coffee maker, tea maker and a grinder, how much would all those cost seperately? "Sanyo SAC-MST6 Coffee Maker", This product is exactly as advertised. Coffee brews fast & hot. I love being able to fill water container and then just setting in its slot and not having to pour the water into yet another spot - no spills! Only issue is no auto-shut off, but I'm just using an automatic timer plugged into outlet. No problems with charcoal filter as others have had. Haven't used it to make tea yet, no comment there. "Amazing Disappointment", I drink tea absolutely everyday. My whole family and I. We drink all types of tea, red, green, white, black, herbal, etc. For quite some time I have been looking for a quality tea maker that will brew different teas correctly, quickly and with a minimum of mess. This machine is NOT it. The Sanyo is VERY cheaply made and has no input for tea type let alone tea steeping times. The grinder is very small and poor quality as well. The parts do not even fit together very well. Pick the pot up to pour your brew and the top will fall right off into your cup if you are not careful. There is no stop mechanism for the basket so if you remove the pot before every last of drop of water has sprinkled down be prepared for a hot mess. I am Costa Rican and long before my love of tea developed I was a hardcore coffee drinker and I can tell you that during my coffee only days I wouldn't have touched this machine with a ten foot pole. "Really Love it!", We just love our new coffee maker. Having the grinder and coffee maker as one unit is a delight. It brews a great cup of coffee and the size is just perfect for my husband and myself. It's worth every penney and then some. LeiLani ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Good enough for a Sbux barista", I bought this coffee maker when I went on maternity leave from Starbucks. I wasn't in the store very often and wanted to make coffee at home for my husband. The machine is small, not good if you have a big crowd, but perfect for me to make coffee for him every morning and sometimes for a few friends. The essentials for good coffee are; clean fresh water (have that) properly ground coffee (that's were most people run into problems) correct proportion (2 tbs for every 6 oz) and HOT water (this machine has that ability!) To get that strong tasty flavor out of coffee you need a machine that can get the water hot enough to extract the flavor. Many people try to put in more coffee or grind it improperly hoping to make it stronger that will only lead to bitter coffee. This machine made me very happy and it does tea to boot! (wasn't totally in love with tea function I like to steep mine longer that the machine allows.) So if your looking for an inexpensive coffee maker that has a small foot print and makes excellent coffee I would highly recommend this machine and recommend you ditch the Foldgers and have the beans of your choice ground for a paper cone (#6)!!! "The best bargain out there, hands down!", My wife likes tea. I like coffee. We wanted a grinder as well, and we were nervous with anticipation when we saw we could get all THREE machines in one combo unit for under $40? 8 months after buying the unit, we could not be more pleased with it. The grinder is strong, the brewing is quick, and the coffee and tea are delicious. In fact, this is the ONLY unit I have ever seen with a tea-brewing function and the special tea basket. Normally I'd be skeptical, but since Sanyo is a Japanese company, you know it's a legit tea machine (and sure enough, good quality green tea tastes great coming out of the unit). In short, it's not the fanciest, prettiest, or more feature rich unit, but it does everything you need a machine like this to do, and it's an absolute steal for the money. Highly recommended to anyone and everyone! "I would like to introduce you to my new best friend.", Great coffee pot, it has a very Japanese style about it, and it seems to be of higher quality than the Mr Coffee machines which seem to die after 1-2 years of daily use. All of the Sanyo items that I have owned, from my rice cooker to my tv set have lasted a long time. The coffee is plenty hot, but not too hot, and brews relatively fast. It's also shockingly easy to keep this machine clean- after 3 month of daily use it still looks brand new. Features which are different from most coffee pots: grounds container: This sits in the pot itself, it is not attached to the coffee-pot body, as with most. Most coffee pots seem like they are permanently dirty, but the Sanyo method enables you to keep the machine a LOT cleaner because the grounds aren't held right against the water spout. grinder: I like having an attached grinder, it saves counter space, and an outlet, and its the quietest grinder that I have ever heard. reservoir: It detaches, so you don't spill water all over the machine while emptying a carafe of water into it. off-switch: I wish that it had auto-power-off. That cost it 1 star. Otherwise this machine is perfect! tea-maker: I only used it once, but because the tea-leaf-container is separate from the coffee-grinds-container your tea does not end up tasting like coffee. (assuming you clean the carafe!) size: 6 4-oz cups. "Has a fatal flaw....", I really wanted this coffee maker to work, since I like the design so much. Pros: -Grinder works well -Smaller than it looks -Makes good tasting coffee -Low cost Cons: -Inconsistent, 2/3 of time it just steams all the water away and make very little coffee. I saw another review saying the coffee takes too long to make and I am having the same problem. When it works it makes 3 cups coffee out of 3.5 cup water in about 4 min (per manual). But usually it takes 8 min and makes only 1 cup of coffee out of 3.5 cups water. I think the problem is the heating element is too hot and all the water escapes as steam. Will be returning this one... "Perfect for my purposes!", I purchased this coffee/tea maker in order to make tea for 2 people on a regular basis and coffee for a group on rare occasions. It is perfect for these purposes. It makes coffee for 3-4 people depending on the size of your mugs. It brews both beverages very well - I love the fact that there are separate filter baskets for coffee and tea! It is steaming hot and ready quickly. Also includes helpful instructions and measurements for making iced tea/coffee. I use it on a daily basis with no complaints! ![]() |
