"black market version?"
this one from Amazon appears to me coming from black-market! why? 1: it was in blank cardboard boxes with packing peanuts rather than nice tight fit official box with photo of it shown outside of box. 2: the manual was definitely zeroxed copy not binded but just stapled - as someone mentioned, there is no recipe included. 3: no warranty info. well. I only paid $22 so knock-off is ok as long as this works.

"homemade made easy"
This is a great icecream maker for the price and effort. Just don't over-fill it, 1qt. of mix is enough to fill the machine, don't forget it mixes in air. I highly recommend the Ben and Jerry's book, awsome recipes! The one complaint I have is there are no recipes included whith the freezer. Overall I love it.

"Great product but incomplete manual and poor lid fit"
We just received the ice cream maker and it only came with a partial photocopied manual that does not contain any recipes (even though the first page says "contains 40 bonus recipes"). Also, the lid did not fit and I had to shave off some of the plastic to get it to fit at all. Hopefully it performs well once we are able to try some recipes.

"Makes great ice cream/sorbet"
So far I've been very pleased with this ice cream maker. It doesn't make huge quantities, but the recipes have been very good and I've been very happy with its' performance. So far I've made strawberry sorbet, old fashioned orange ice cream, and chocolate malt ice cream. All of them have tasted great and the consistency has been sometimes better than what we've had at expensive restaurants! One word of caution; if you add ingredients to the machine that are too cold, the sides start to immediately freeze up and the mixing paddle then has trouble turning. Eventually the machine stops due to the freeze up. So as they say, "timing is everything"!

This is my first ice cream maker I keep the bowl in the freezer so that it is always ready to use. This machine is real easy to use I just mix up my ice cream mix (I use the mixes that can be bought in a store any of these can be used as long as it doesn't make more than 1 1/2 quarts) then I pour the mix into the machine and in about 20 minutes I have a perfect soft serve ice cream my 4 year old son likes to drink it as a milk shake.
