"Great Little Scale!" I needed a scale when I recently had to start home cooking a specially prescribed diet for my dog. The ingredients had to be measured in grams and fractions of a gram. After spending much time researching scales, this one had all the features I was looking for. The scale is small in size but big enough for me to put a small plastic bowl on the tray for weighing the bulkier ingredients like the chicken or rice. It is accurate, literally right down to a grain of rice or a drop of oil. Because of its compact size it fits right in the cupboard and takes no room at all. It also measures in ounces at the push of a button should I want to do that with something else. I wear glasses for close-up reading; however, the digital numbers on the scale are large enough for me to read minus my glasses with no difficulty. The price is very reasonable and the shipping was fast. One of the soft plastic crescent shaped grippers did come off after I used the scale a couple of times, but I was able to stick it back on. I highly recommend this Polder Pocket Size Digital Scale. "Love it!" I am doing Weight Watchers & I weigh everything. This has really helped when I eat out!!! "Too hard to read" If small and portable is your only concern, then take a flashlight with you so you can read the LED in restaurant lighting. I fault myself for purchasing something way too small for my purpose. I'm weighing small food portions, not gold dust. "Great portable scale!" This is the size of a deck of cards. Great for inconspicuously bringing into a restaurant. I even got it wet by accident, & it stopped working. No problem, 2 days later it came right back. Great for people on a diet. "Seems good, slight defect" The design is nice. I weighed several coins and they seemed to register very well. I checked standard weights from the mint. Some were slightly lighter or slightly heavier. They were within one decigram of standard (1/10th gram). These were circulating coins, from different years and could have changed weight from use, or perhaps they are within mint tolerances. It seemed quite accurate. Possibly it was spot on, if I'd had perfect test weights. Unfortunately my scale had a little defect (that is why I knocked it down one star). On the lid/tray, there are two rubber strips with little nubs that fit into holes in the scale platform. The strips center and stabilize the lid when you flip it over to use as the weighing tray. One strip was missing on mine. I'm exchanging it with Amazon. I still want it, so I'm looking forward to the new one. It includes the two button cell batteries also.

What our customer's say! "Accurate enough, easy to use.", This scale is great. I sometimes buy expensive ingredients in bulk and divvy them up to share with friends who are also foodies. Particularly if I have to travel for certain hard-to-come-by organic ingredients, I'll offer to get some for other people. Then comes the problem of dividing up a big sack of herbs or spices in proportion to what each person chipped in. The polder is really perfect for this kind of thing. The scale allows you zero it for any amount under a pound so you can quickly take into account the weight of packaging, even if you are stuck using different types of containers. I checked it against some standard weights also, and it never varied significantly, though it sometimes won't recognize small weight changes as with powders. You can solve that by picking up the sack and setting it down again to obtain an accurate total. Another handy feature is that you can switch between grams and ounces as measures just by pushing a button. The scale is also small and pretty durable, making it highly portable. For this price, a better scale is hard to find, even in specialty shops (many of which charge a premium for decent scales). I highly recommend it for keeping things fair and saving money. "It's decent", It's precise to within .1 grams, but it's certainly not that accurate. If you turn the scale off and back on, you're probably going to get a reading that's as much as half a gram different from the last. Why don't they make these things work off solar power? I hate dealing with batteries, and the little ones are the worst. Not a bad scale, but not a good scale either. "Love This Product", I purchased the Polder Pocket Sized Digital Scale, because I was on a diet and needed to measure out my food. I was going on vacation and needed to have a scale. This scale is so convenient and it is small enough to pack in your purse or backpack. It is very accurate and easy to use. I would recommend this to anyone. It fits in my purse and is very conveient for me to use I just take a cheap sandwhich bag and lay it over the tray so that I can easily clean it after using. I recommend this scale to anyone who like me has had gastric bypass or if you just need to make sure of the amount of food you are eating. "A US nickel weighs 5 grams", We were searching for a scale to help us accurately weigh food for the calculation of weight watchers points. A US nickel weighs 5 grams and this scale was dead on. It was small enough for travel and camping and weighs small amounts very nicely. We have used it for spices, meats and letters. The supplied holder for the food (that is also the lid) works best with this scale. We tried using a pyrex cup and even after taring the scale back to zero the total weight exceeded the scales maximum weight limit and would error out. so stick with the lid. we have simply wrapped it with plastic wrap when doing meats. Any other light container will work but most of our plastic bowls were to big and would block the display. The narrow glad containers that lunch-meat comes in worked great! if you to need weigh things over 1 pound or need to use odd size bowls this is not the scale for you. You need one of the $100+ scales. But for $30 this has been more than worth the price! 
Read this reviews before You buy... "Works great", This small, easy to use scale seems quite reliable and easy to read. We are quite happy with it. Though I use a measuring cup to hold items, the lid can also be used. I like that the lid not only protects it from dirt and damage, but creates a simple, small item that can easily be stored or carried on a trip. The only inconvenience is that it always starts up in grams instead of ounces. I'd rather have it remember that setting when it goes off. "Perfect", It works great. I carry it around with me and often forget that I have it, but when I do, I use it. "Great portable scale", Very accurate portable scale - I use the two that I bought from Amazon to measure portions of meat and cereal that I eat every day. It easily slips into a pocket, as it is slim and light. If you're worried that you'll need to measure out over a pound of food, don't worry...you usually won't, since most portion sizes are significantly under a pound, and you can always measure out two or more equal portions. "It couldn't be any better!", I LOVE IT! I've used it for weighing jewerly, to weighing letters(to see if they go over the one ounce rate). SUPER-SIMPLE to use and VERY ACCURATE! So happy that this is the one I purchased! "It's smaller than it looks", This is a very small scale limited to 16oz (1lb). It works well and the hold feature is quite helpful when using a larger plate. My only frustration is the limit of 1lb since many of my plates already weigh 8-12oz or more. |
