Others say...
"Works perfect" AS others have pointed out the angle of ports and weight of the product is perfect. No problems experienced! "Nice Hub but didn't do exactly what I expected " It's a nice looking, heavy, and very usable hub but I have one problem with it. Devices plugged into it are powered even when the Hub's power cable is not plugged in (which means that their only being half powered anyway). My idea was that I would have multiple devices plugged into the hub and then have the hub plugged into it's own power switch where I could turn them all on or off at the same time with the flick of the power strip switch. I like it and it has come in handy for me but I just wish that if it wasn't receiving it's power source that it would not allow any plugged in usb devices attempt to power themselves off of the computer's bus. "A keeper" I have used different hubs over the years and find this one to be well built and reliable. This is not a fancy piece of equipment but it this day and age, to have something do what it is designed to do reliably is in itself amazing. But Kensington's Dome hub does just that. Other reviews have complained about usb cords not staying plugged in the usb ports. I have not had any such problems. I also like the weight of the hub. It stays where you put it. In short "It works well" I plan to buy another one in the next few weeks and would definitely recommend this to anyone. "Kensington Domehub" Product received defective. Sounded like a good idea - never got a chance to use it!!! "Kensington domehub USB " Customer reviews were instrumental in my puchase decision, and I am not disappointed. The Kensington DomeHub works just fine for me.

What our customer's say! "Great item, but...", I bought this USB hub for an older (2005) iMac. It certainly solves the problems of dealing with multiple USB-powered peripherals. One issue I did notice was that when I had 5-6 plugs used, my computer had difficulty starting up... in fact, it didn't start up until I unplugged all but 1-2 devices. Certainly, I wouldn't blame the product for this. It may be my older iMac, or one of those weird tech issues that never quite has a reason. I suppose it may be like plugging too many electrical devices into an extension cord. Whatever the case, it is simply something to watch out for. Oh, and it isn't exactly weighted as the product blurb states. I doubt that it would tip over, but that has more to do with its shape. You aren't going to be able to plug and unplug without moving the hub - which is sort of what I expected. "Refurbish?", I ordered 1 set, when I opened it, it had lots of scratches. Amazon was kind enough to send me a replacement but it came with scratches as well... "Good idea", Saw this as a deal of the day. Read the reviews on Amazon and several other sites and decided to give it a try. I bought one for me and my husband. It has freed up all but one port on my computer. I have a zip drive that I still use and the domehub would not recognize it. It's not that old, but too old to use with this hub. But, I have connected the following items to it and they work fine - a scanner, a laser printer, a Maxtor external drive, a flash drive and the mouse, plus the free light that came with the dome hub. It easy to connect and disconnect the items, and the domehub does not take up much room at all. "attractive and handy", I just bought an iMac with only 3 USB ports, so this little USB hub was the perfect solution to the problem. It holds its own aesthetically next to the iMac and makes it easy to have all of my iPod cable/iPhone cable/thumb drive USB accessories easily accessible. "Does just what is promises", A nice product. Provides a usb hub that supports the 2.0 protocol, and a usb powered light to boot! What's not to like? Its attractive and functional. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "I've got 3 of these and will continue to buy them!", I store a lot of video files on my laptop so I need a lot of space. I have 8 external hard drives attached to my laptop through 2 of these Kensington DomeHubs. Along with the hard drives, I connect numerous other items. I have filled up 2 sets of these hubs so I just purchased a 3rd. It's amazing to be able to use 1 USB port on my laptop to connect all these extras. I have been using the Kensington model for a couple years and have yet to have a problem with them. As I add more data to my storage area, I'll continue to add more Kensington 7 port hubs to connect this data. "Great form but lacks sufficient power to serve power-hungry devices", After reading all the reviews before purchasing this hub, concerned mostly with the reliability, I went ahead and bought it because it seemed be a stylish yet functional hub that was also weighted enough to keep from twisting and rocking off its base when its ports were all loaded. As far as the form, it is perfect design and handles all stiff cabling connected to it without lifting off the table or being pulled to a particular side. The USB cables stay tight in the ports. The power plug, however, tends to be a little loose and can accidently be pulled out when handling the hub. The major drawback, however, is its poor power serving abilities. Hard drives, iPhone (3G) and iPod all seem to malfunction in weird ways when used with the hub. When transferring large data to hard drives, my USB speakers (Harmon Kardon) and other sometimes other ports disconnect and are no longer recognized, sometimes necessitating a reboot. If syncing large data such as music, photos and/or videos to my iPhone 3G, iTunes will ALWAYS disconnect the iPhone 3G during the Sync. Basically, this hub is only useful for low-to-no power consuming USB devices, such as flashdrives and printers. To summarize, as just a "plain" hub, this works as expected. And its aesthetic design is beyond reproach, with its callout feature being a weighted base. But being sold as a POWERED hub, it fails miserably. And thus, even though this hub has more than enough ports to handle my current platoon of USB devices, for my power hungry USB devices, my search continues as I will be forced to have TWO USB hubs on my desk. "Works Great!", Our old hub started acting up and so I wanted a replacement hub quickly. I have a lot of devices I like to have connected to my laptop when I'm at home (printer, camera cable, scanner, external drive, numeric keypad etc.) I love having everything plugged into one central hub so all I have to do is connect or disconnect a single cable. This is just what I needed! "So Far so GOOD", I read every good and bad review for this before I bought it. I researched these hubs for hours. I finally made up my mind that despite the few nay sayers I was going to roll the dice and try it. I'm glad I did... This hub is still woking brilliantly. Its size and shape is very compatible with my desk at work. The weight of this product is a plus too. the extra port at the top is very convenient for quick and frequent ins and outs. I love this doggone product! Right now I have 2 Western Digital external hard drives, a Kingston memory stick, a mouse and a keyboard hooked up this Kensington hub. I don't think that it will support any more hard drives though. My laptop doen't have enough power. It's working fine out here in Iraq so far. "Terrific peripheral", Typical Kensington product - works right out of the box, durable, well-designed, attractive, and highly functional. I have several external HD's, a scanner, a camera and an keyboard/mouse combo, which all work through this hub. This thing has been rock solid for me. I'd like to buy another for my other machine. ![]() |
