Others say...
"Slightly heavy, but does a great job on carpet and tile" After reviewing other comments online, we made sure to purchase the one that DOES come with all the attachments (stair thingie, shoulder strap, etc) that the regular model did not come with... and we are very happy with our purchase. It's picked up everything we've thrown at it, and I have used it so much - my husband is happy for the investment made, cuz the house is so much cleaner now! :) "Great overall performance" Overall this is an excellent vacuum and a big upgrade over my old Dirt Devil. My wife and I needed a vacuum that was ideal for hardwood floors and was a champ at sucking up long dog hair (Great Pyrenese). The Bissell Lift-Off works well in this regard. We almost always use the vacuum with the canister detached which is a very convenient way to clean my hardwood floors. The canister also makes it easier to take the vacuum outside to vacuum our vehicles. The only downside to using the canister is that the attachments are on the base unit so you just have to carry them with you as you move from room to room or wheel the base unit around with you as you work. The construction feels very solid and all the switches and levers are of high quality. The dust collection cup is easy to empty and the foam air filters are also easy to access and clean. I usually have to empty the cup twice each time I vacuum the house and wash the air filter about every other time. The cord is long enough for me to reach almost all of my 1800 square foot house from a single outlet. The only negative aspect of this vacuum is that the telescoping wand attachment is too short at 28 inches. At just under 6 ft tall I have to bend over to use the bare floor attachment. Also, dog hair gets wrapped around inside the Turbo Brush and the only way to clear it is to take it apart which requires you to remove some screws. The Turbo Brush is not the wonder tool I hoped it would be for removing dog hair from upholstery, but my wife likes it (she doesn't have to take it apart -- that's my job apparently). The best thing I can say about the Bissell is that it is easier to use and cleans better than our old vacuum and it makes vacuuming seem like less of a chore. Therefore we use it more often and therefore have a cleaner house. In the end, that's what counts, right? "Highly Recommend This Vacuum" Great suction, handle bends low so you can maneuver under the sofa, works well on my tile and wood floors, too. The attachments are snugly attached, and don't fall off, and the extension arm is long enough that I don't have to bend over when using it along the edges of the floor (I'm 5'2"). The only negatives are that the dirt holder is quite small and that it's a bit heavy. Not prohibitively heavy, but you have to use some effort to push it. It's quiet, the cord is very long, and we have extreme dog hair (and some long people hair) that it handles very well. You just have to empty the container often. "Cleans Absolutely Great..if your back can handle it." I did a lot of research before purchasing this machine. It lives up to my expectations when cleaning my carpets, floors, upholstery, blinds, etc. The lift-off canister with shoulder sling is great, allowing me to put attachments onto the hose, including the rotating stair tool. My only knock is that the machine is heavy. My wife cannot vacuum our entire apartment without having a serious back ache. I thought she was joking until I also developed lower back strain with vacuuming the apartment. "carpets get deep down clean" Hi, I bought this sweeper refurbished online for about $80 and that is the most I've ever spent on a vacuum. I tried it right away and was amazed. My previous was a dirt devil feather light that was on it's last leg. Before that I had the cheapest eureka Wal-Mart sold. This blew them all away. I must say that I swept with my old vac and then immediately went over it with this Bissell. I was embarrassed to see what came up in the canister. I went from that to showing it off to family. They were surprised to see that my seemingly clean carpet had so much hiding in it. One of the first things I noticed too is all of the cat hair it picked up. I have 2 cats and I never see their hair laying all over, but this got what was unseen. I should mention that I did have a 90 warranty on the refurbished model and I did have to take it in to a repair shop. I had clogged the hose and that was NOT coverd by the warranty, but it only cost $15 to fix. Other than that no complaints. Thanks.

Bissell 3750M Lift-Off Deluxe Bagless Upright Vacuum
Why I buy this one ? - 12 amp, bagless, upright vacuum plus detachable canister vacuum with shoulder strap - Wide cleaning path; 7 height adjustments; HEPA filter; filter-change indicator - Rotating-brush power switch; telescoping wand and stretch hose for hard-to-reach areas - Stair-cleaning tool, bare-floor tool, crevice tool, and upholstery tool/dusting brush included - Measures 15-1/2 by 14-3/4 by 44 inches; 1-year limited parts-and-labor warranty What our customer's say! "Good Idea but poor quality execution", I have owned this vacuum for about 2.5 years and that is about the useful life of it. At first I was impressed with its power and liked the lift off unit. However, after using it for about a year the cheap plastic started to break. It also clogs very easily and you have to take everything apart and make a big mess trying to clean it. The suction hose clogs and you have to run a wire through it to remove the plug. The standup unit no longer stands on its own because a chunk of plastic broke off that locks it in the up position. One of the cord receptors broke off after about 20 uses. The belt tends to make a burning smell. The flex hose is not long enough and just pulls the lift off unit over unless you always hold it in your hand. Unfortunately, all current home vacuums that I have seen are made of plastic. I agree with the previous reviewer, don't spend over $100 because it will soon be in the trash pile. "Had it 1.5 years, crappy machine, I doubt I'll buy another Bissell", I bought this machine April 2005, paying what I considered a small fortune. I'm sorry I bought it -- it's a crappy machine -- I hate it -- it deserves 0 stars. I don't think I'll buy another Bissell. A major problem is the belt area of the powerbrush chronically accumulates debris resulting in a burning smell, which renders the machine useless, at which point I have to spend time taking it apart and diagnosing what's wrong. Not my idea of a competent machine. It has other chronic problems, the upshot being that I feel this vacuum was a total waste of money. We have hardwood floors, very-low-pile "industrial" carpet, linoleum, and several longhair cats. We don't even have floors which make a vacuum work hard, except for cat fur. I refuse to get a vacuum cleaner repaired because the cost of repair is often greater than giving the old one to charity and buying a new one. At this point, I am not going to spend more than $100 on any vacuum cleaner, any brand, any style. It's just not worth the risk of paying $300 (or more) on a machine that should last ten years and doesn't make it two full years. Then at least if the vacuum cleaner breaks down shamefully early, I didn't make too much of an investment in it. I'm pretty upset about this awful machine. It's not even worth 1 star! "You couldn't ask for anything more", I had looked at many, many other vaccuum cleaners but I was attracted right away by this one's very attractive colors and design. It's a very pretty looking machine. I am very happy that I bought it. The price is very reasonable because you get two vaccuums for the price of one. The filters couldn't be easier to get at and clean, I love the fact that it's bagless, it comes with every attatchment you need, and I too love the turbo brush. Cleaning my carpeted stairs is now a breeze. The little canister is as light as a feather to carry up and down the stairs and I love the job the little turbo brush does on them. The super long cord is extremely nice to have, no more running to the outlet to replug the short vaccuum cord anymore. Yes the vaccuum is a little heavy but all you have to do when you go around from room to room is just tilt the machine back and wheel it around on it's back wheels and it's light when you do that. To save your back when you pick the vaccuum up, pick it up with one hand on the canister handle and the other on the upright handle and it's easy then. As for the job it does, I always kept my rugs clean with my old vaccuum but I was shocked too after vaccuuming with this machine. I could not believe the cat hair and dirt this vaccuum picked up. I was very, very pleased. This is a fabulous vaccuum cleaner. It has everything anyone could ever want. I know I will enjoy mine for many, many years. "Love this machine", I really love this machine- I can carry it easily and it picks up really well- especially the pet hair. "good vacuum but I couldnt get beyond the lead issue", Great suction, easy enough to push, filters are simple to clean, love the lift-off feature, but I just couldnt get beyond the traces of lead in the power cord. I'm sure it contains small traces, but hey, even small traces of lead is too much lead. ![]() Read this reviews before You buy... "Quiet yet Powerful", I love it except it's a little heavier than I thought it would be. "Powerful suction, great for pets, and tools for every job", We were looking at the Dyson DC14 Animal because we have a black cat that sheds, a lot, so we needed something powerful. After reading several reviews and deciding that spending $550 was over our budget, we went with the Bissell. We are not disappointed in the least. This vacuum is wonderful. The suction is unbelievable. I vacuumed the whole house and emptied the container bin (which holds a lot) three times. We were amazed at what our other (Dirt Devil) vacuum missed. The carpets have never looked this good, even raised the pile up, like it was new again. Adjusting the Bissell is easy and after a few times, you know the settings for each area, also works great on hardwood floors. There are several attachments to get the job done, my favorite being the Turbo Brush (although the regular upholstery brush works fine.) Our white chairs were covered in black cat hair, but after running the Turbo Brush on them, they were clean as a whistle, no hair. The best thing about this vacuum, and I know some people have complained that you have three filters to deal with, to clean, etc, is not feeling like all the dust was up my nose after vacuuming. The Dirt Devil left me coughing, sneezing and a mess. I dreaded even doing it. If you have allergies or are sensitive to dust, this vacuum is for you. The downside, which is very minor, is that you do have to carry the lift-off canister with you or use the shoulder strap (which takes some getting use to), as the hose usually pulls the canister over if left unattended. I wish they had made it so the canister laid flat, maybe even had wheels or something, but again, not that big of a deal. The canister is light to carry. I highly recommend this vacuum, easy to maneuver, and a great, low-cost alternative to a Dyson. "Love this Vacuum!!!", This vacuum is great!! It is so easy to use and works excellent. The lift off is great and it is so easy to clean stairs with the turbo brush which I might add does a great job. The cord is super long so you don't need to stop and move your plug. Th filters are an easy change and the dirt cup comes off with ease. I have hardwood and carpeting and this works great on both. It's nice to be able to shut of the brush on bare floors instead of "beating" my wood floors. It's not even that loud compared to my last one(Dirt Devil)....I can even hear the phone ring!! I would definitely recommend this vacuum!! "Cleaning stairs is easy now!", I absolutely love how this vacuum converts to two vacuums in one machine! I live in a two story home and vacuuming the stairs has always been a pain! It is so much easier with this machine, all that I have to do now is detach the portable canister and carry it up the stairs as I clean! It is lightweight and the suction power is amazing. I was shocked at how much dirt was pulled from my carpet after using it for the first time! I had always thought my previous vacuum was doing a good job at cleaning! I also like how it is bagless. This is my first bagless vacuum and I wasn't sure how I would like it but it is so much easier! I don't have to worry about changing the bag or overfilling it. The only maintenance I have is to clean the filters, which is so quick and esy to do! "Deluxe is Right!!", When Bissell syas deluxe, they mean Deluxe! This vacuum has everything! Great suction, awesome accessories, and the detachable canister are just a few! The detachbale canister is great! Now I don't have to lug my machine up and down the stairs, instead I can just use the canister and effortlessly clean my stairs and molding! It also comes with so many accessories but my favorite is the Turbobrush. Cleaning my couch and chairs is easy now! The filters are also very easy to clean and change and I love not having to empty a bag. I really like that I can see what I vacuum up as well, it is amazing! Again, this is a terrific machine! ![]() |
