"West Bend 6 qt slow cooker"
West Bend 84866 6-Quart Versatility Slow Cooker with glass cover, stainless steel Product was as described in Amazon. Have used the slow cooker several times and are very pleased with the slow cooker's operation and ease of cleaning. Would recommend this product to others.

"buying a cooker"
pot was what i needed to cook and deep fry foods. was a good bargin to get. got to me in very good time.

"No comparison to the older models!"
One of the first few times I used my new model, food stuck to the bottom in one area, and the 2" mark is unremoveable! This pot shakes all over my stove when attempting to brown meat! I'm not sure if this is caused by the oval shape, or type of metal used with this one. I have owned possibly 10 of the older models over the past 30 years, and I liked them all way better than this model. This model is more pleasing to the eye, but that's about it! I have recommended the Westbend Slow-cookers to just about everyone I know, and now I feel obligated to tell them all not to buy this newer model! I am very disappointed in mine! Maybe I should look for my warranty card for return, and hopefully purchase an older model?!? Amazon... thanks so much for allowing me to vent! A very unhappy customer!

"Can't stop using it !!!"
West Bend 84846 6-Quart "Versatility Deluxe" Everyday Cooker, Stainless Steel/Black Now I know why it's called an Everyday Cooker...................I can't stop using it everyday: I'm even looking for things to cook in it. It is so VERSATILE !!! I brown my meat on the stovetop in the never stick, stainless pan and then slowcook it til done, and then hold it on the keep warm setting until we're ready to sit down and eat. All of this in the same pan that I started it in. This is the BEST slowcooker I've ever used. I keep trying different recipes from every food group just to see what else I can cook in it. It all turns out wonderful. If I only had one pan in my kitchen, this would my choice.

"slow cooker"
Great cooker, I love that the pot is removable and the glass lid lets you see what's going on while it's cooking. I prefer a West Bend rather that any other cooker. Dependable. and the price was fair.

What our customer's say!

" West Bend Versatility Deluxe", I purchased this for my daughter and then one for myself. My daughter's pan was warped and did not cook evenly. When I contacted the manufacturer I received a very tepid response. I even offered to purchase another pan to fit on the base, but I was told that size was not available. I always had a high regard for West Bend products when they were manufactured in the USA but since they are now made in China the quality is not the same. I will not be buying their products in the future.

"Excellent cooker", I have bought my husband two of these cookers. (one drowned in Hurricane Katrina) He loves the versatility of the slow cooker and the ability to transfer the pot to the stove for reheating. I think that this cooker is the only one on the market that you can do that with.

"Happy customer", Excellect product...You can brown it on top of the stove and then slow cook it all day...

"User Friendly Cooker", This slow cooker works very well. So user friendly anyone could use it. West Bend is a quality company to work with. The first base did not heat, contacted West Bend, and they quickly sent a replacement. Would definitely buy more of their products knowing they service and take care of their customers.
Love the glass top/lid. Allows you to monitor the progress of the your food.
The base could be used as a grill. The stainless pan is easily cleaned and can also be used as a pan on your stove top or to place into your refrigerator with leftovers. Great feature!
Would recommend this product to anyone.

"It's okay but...", The two stars are for the looks and it does a good job of keeping things warm, however, as a crockpot, I did not like it's performance. The heat is only at the base of the pot and therefore cooks the food differently than a crockpot where the heat surrounds the food. Also, the lid slips off the lip with just the slightest bump. I liked the thought of browning meats on the stovetop with the removable portion but on my glass top stove, the pot was shaking so violently that I had to keep a hand on it the whole time to keep it from falling off. I have not experienced that with any other pot I own so I'm not sure what was causing that.

"The BEST cooker, IMHO", I love my West Bend slow cooker. I love to put a frozen roast in this cooker. I add a little olive oil, seasoning, one onion, quartered. Set the cooker in high and within 4 to 5 hours the roast is done and simmering in it's own juices. I do not add water, Don't need to.
If you try this, you will cook your roast,or pork ribs and other meats this way(no water added) Talk about flavor!. So easy and the cleanup is so simple. The pot serves as a serving dish too. Then The pot goes in the dishwasher. How easy! I love it.

Today I just ordered this cooker for my daughter and son-in-law. Wedding anniversary gift. I know they will love it too.

"Great for various types of cooking", I have a Rival 5 quart "oval" crockpot that I purchased in January. It gets too hot, even on low, and is more "round" than oval.

I purchased this model, because a friend has one that still works for her after 30+ years.

The stainless steel, non stick interior is better than the crock pot, for weight, durability, and usability. It can be placed in the oven, or in the refridgerator much easier than the crockpot.

What REALLY made me choose this model is the heating unit beneath, which is also non-stick coated. You can use it as a griddle, because unlike most slow cookers, with only 3-4 levels (Off being one of them), the WestBend has a DIAL from low to VERY HIGH (the griddle setting, which I would not recommend for the pot itself.

All slow cookers seem to have too high of heat settings, but with this one, you can dial it low enough to truly give you SLOW cooking. I did a "young turkey" of almost 5 pounds yesterday on "Medium" (betweeen the low and high settings), and it was SO moist, I could not believe it was turkey. The breast was succulent and juicy. I was then able to use the griddle beneath on "Low" to heat regular flour tortillas today and make turkey burritos!

I am giving my crock pot to the Thrift Store. THIS is the only slow cooker I will ever need again!

The ONE bad thing about this, is its lack of an OFF setting. You MUST unplug the unit, or it will still be on at the lowest setting. An inconvenience, but not a problem.

"meat falling apart", Makes delicious pot roast...meat was tender and delicious!!! Will roast a chicken next...pot is also easy to clean!!!

"West Bend Slow Cooker", Works great and makes slow cooking a breeze. Great for anyone who hates cooking, but wants a home-cooked meal.

"Glad I Put My Scepticism Aside", I was a little hesitant to order this product after reading some of the other reviews, but since a friend had one that she liked so much I decided to give it a try. I've only used it 3 or 4 times, but haven't had any of the problems mentioned by others so far. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the short time I've owned it. The heat control works fine. Because of the complaints about the nonstick finish, I've avoided metal utensils - no big deal. As suggested by the manufacturer, I oil the nonstick surface after every use. I've used it to pre-brown meats on the stovetop and have not had a problem with warping. The capability of browning in the pot on the stovetop is a major selling point for me - who wants to dirty two pans when you can dirty just one? If any issues develop with further use I won't hesitate to return it, but so far it's great.
