Others say...
"good mug for microwave" purchased this mug based on previous reviews and I'm happy with it. I use it to cook oatmeal in the morning and the size is just right. Large enough for those instant oatmeal packet and the handle makes it safe to carry as the rest of the mug gets hot. Would recommend this to others. "Just the ticket!" Fits an entire 15-ounce can of soup. I haven't tried it yet with the larger cans of Progresso. But this is a nice, large mug, and I didn't make a mess in the company microwave when heating up my soup. It saves me from having to pay extra for those soups that come in their own cup or bowl, and I can choose from a wide variety of soup options instead of just a few. Great product idea! "Great size for soups" I use these a lot for a variety of reheating purposes but probably my favorite are Trader Joe's French Onion soups. These are the perfect size and shape to heat these up, nothing else is even close. Seems to keep the soup hot longer enough for my typical speed of eating, and the lid does a nice job of keeping any mess off the roof of your microwave. "Another "YES" for office lunches" When I saw this mug at the store the first thought in my mind was "This will be wonderful for the office microwave." We have an ongoing war here of "I'm not cleaning the microwave" and it is therefore a scary place to go. This mug is handy, easy to clean, and not only protects the office microwave from the splatters of my soups, etc., but it protects my food from the mysterious creatures living in the micro! The only slight flaw is that the first time I heated tomato soup in it, the interior of the lid became stained - but no big deal. It is also good to have on hand when I mix my fruit and yogurt with granola, or to cook up an oatmeal snack. "Great Product!" I bought this mug because I wanted a product not made of plastic to heat up my soup at work. I read that the plastic products we use in the microwave melt off into the food each time it is used. I have since bought a couple for home, and as an inexpensive gift for friends at work. It holds one box or can of Campbell's or Progresso soup exactly. The thick rubber lid is very durable and prevents splatters in the microwave. The tab on top is pulled up to vent when in the microwave. Soup does heat up faster in this mug because it is enclosed. It can go into the dishwasher. At home I use it for left over spaghetti sauce, soups, gravy, whatever. The mugs stack well in the refrigerator, too. Great idea...thanks Corningware people!

What our customer's say! "Not quite a mug...", I ordered this looking for a large mug for my wife's coffee. It's difficult to gauge the size of the container from the web picture, so I thought this would be a good option. When the containers arrived, I realized they were huge bowl size, which may be perfect for reheating soup or maybe pastas or rice dishes, but certainly not for drinks. I think the term "mug" is a misnomer here. I would call this a bowl with a lid. I returned mine and am still looking for a "mug" that will fit a large Dunkin' Donuts coffee with a lid that is microwavable. "Corningware mugs", I always MUST have a set of these--to heat my coffee in the morning, to store leftovers, for a multitude of uses. Work perfectly in microwave, and actually, are rather good looking. "Great until the tops crater...", I've had four of these for several years, and they were my favorite for microwaving frozen veggies...But all things must come to an end, and ALL the tops have cratered... The plastic gets brittle, and break. If they would offer replacement lids for a buck a piece, I would give them a rave review... "great for soup", Perfect fit for microwaving those 18 ounce cans of Progresso soup. Stir half way through to heat evenly. The lid keeps the soup from boiling over and making a mess if you microwave a little too long. The handle stays cool even when the soup is boiling hot. Pricing on these is kind of screwy, though. Individual mugs are $10, but a set of 4 is only $16. "CorningWare French White 22-Ounce Mug ", Great product and at a great price. These mugs have quickly paid for themselves by allowing me to take my favorite soups to work without the worries of spilling. They are perfect for the microwave! ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "GREAT MUGS!!", These mugs are fabulous! I use them for everything, and so does my husband. They hold a lot, but are easy to handle. The lids are a real bonus! "Loved it !", Dropped it the first day I used it and it shattered. I'm ordering another one. "Good, but expect some bubbling over", These mugs work quite well, perfect for a can of Chunky soup -- but as the soup heats in the microwave, some of it bubbles up through the vents on the lid. You have to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't spatter the microwave. Also note, these mugs are great for heating but not cooking -- I tried using one to make a single portion of rice in the microwave, and the lid melted into a burned, black blob on top of the rice. Stick to using them for soup, cocoa, etc. "Great for soup!", Heating soup in the microwave has never been easier! The lid's vent allows you to leave the cover on the soup (or other food) while it's heating, reducing or eliminating the chances of a splatter inside the microwave. So far, none of my lids have leaked in transport, either. I'm taking homemade soup with me to work almost every day now and, happily, not making a mess! "Lids don't melt", My wife and I got two of these as weddings gifts and love them. Our plastic set was looking awful and we were concerned about the health issues of microwaving plastic, but had problems with other brands' glass/ceramic products - namely, lids that melted and/or warped where they touch the glass/ceramic portion. But we've used these for a year and a half with no problems. Unless of course you count a little lid staining from tomato-based sauces - par for the course. ![]() |
