"Very Handy" Love this oversized measuring cup. Very nice to have. Can't go wrong with Pyrex. "Love it!" It's a mixing bowl and large measuring cup at the same time. Very useful. "poor handle design, not enough measurement granularity" The handle is too short. Even when less than half-full, this cup is uncomfortable to carry. It feels like the handle is slipping out of the hand. This is especially unpleasant and potentially dangerous with a liter or two of boiling hot water. The handle needs to be at least 2cm longer or a be a full loop. The markings are printed at an angle. It's barely perceptible, but nevertheless noticeable. There should be more markings. You can only measure from 2 cups up in one cup intervals, or from 16oz up in 16 oz intervals (or do some math) or 500ml and up in 250ml intervals. There is plenty of space for more marks. "The Most Useful Thing I Ever Bought" I bought this for a chili recipe that requires a lot of liquids. My wife mocked it when I first got it, but now she uses it more than I do. It's a measuring cup but it's big enough to use as a mixing bowl. You can put a lot of ingredients in it and still have room to use a hand blender or mixer. I don't know how we got by without it. "Pyrex" This is a WONDERFUL addition to any working kitchen! I find that I grab this first. It pours really well and the size is just to useful for almost everything not to mention that it goes great in the microwave as well. I've been tempted to get another one for the larger bake jobs!

What our customer's say! "Pyrex 2-Qt. Measuring Cup", This is a much needed part of baking - finally, a huge measuring cup which also doubles as a mixing bowl. The Pyrex name is known for excellent cooking supplies. And the free shipping from Amazon is much appreciated, especially during these times of high fuel costs. "BEWARE: new Pyrex EXPLODES.", Pyrex is NO LONGER BOROSILICATE. The new stuff will crack and break, as multiple reviewers have noted; nor are the Catamount borosilicate products a good substitute, since they shatter easily due to their thinness. Luminarc still makes their stuff out of thick borosilicate. It's the only viable replacement for traditional Pyrex to date. If you're interested, look up the Pyrex scandal. The nutshell version is that in 1998 Corning spun off the Pyrex brand to World Kitchen and other companies, who now use soda-lime glass. Injuries and lawsuits have cropped up everywhere. "Pyrex is no more", It turns out that this mixing bowl is not made by corel, and is not the high quality high temperature glass originally used. Corel sold of it's Pyrex brand to another company called World Kitchen. WK uses common bottle glass for all it's Pyrex line, rather than the 'lab glass' that made pyrex worth buying. I was forced to purchase a replacement for the 16 year loyal pyrex measuring that finaly broke. It arrived today, complete with defective bubbles and cracks through both the handle and bowl. Return shipping will cost more than the item did to purchase, so I am out of luck. If you are looking for the quality pyrex that has been used for generations, you are out of luck. It has not been made for a while now. "Pyrex 2-qt", This is a perfect size container. Batter bowl? Prep bowl? Pick a winner. My two are SOOO perfect to grab and go! Two fit my "Wave" to heat up broth or water. The handle makes removal from the Micro-wave (use a mitt) a safe project. Spout handy, example filling canning jars. Beats the dipper method. "Pyrex has gone downhill", I have seem pyrex that has survived generations, unfortunately something has changed and I have had 3 pieces literally explode, in the oven, on the stove, even just sitting on the stove top after being used. My latest was a 2 quart measure (see additional product photos) I was reheating some coffee, I brought it to a boil accidently but then turned off the stovetop. I poured myself a cup without incident but about 5 minutes later I hear an explosion in the kitchen and find glass and coffee everywhere! I don't know what is going on at the pyrex plant but I will not be buying anymore of it. Maybe a trip to the antique store is in order? 
Read this reviews before You buy... "Love it!", I love this large measuring cup. I have to admit I don't use it to measure much because by the time I have 2 quarts of liquid in there it's quite heavy. But I do use it for mixing alot. "Useful!", I find that this is one of the most handy items in my kitchen....I use it a lot and bought this one to replace another large measuring cup that I had chipped....this one is an improvement over the previous design....I like the handle and the flatter wider design to the bowl...it is also much easier and neater for pouring than the older deeper model with the too small closed handle....you can't go wrong with this purchase. "Pyrex - TOP quality!", Love the size of this measuring cup - perfect for larger quantities and mixing. I have several Pyrex measuring cups, in a variety of sizes. They come in handy, nearly every day! "great, large enough for high volume, and sturdy", I bought this for soapmaking and making creams and lotions, and it is perfect. It has metric and English measuring, is sturdy, and plenty large enough. I may be ordering more of these in the future. "Need one for any kitchen", I use this measuring cup mainly as a mixing bowl. Hold the handle with one hand while you mix and pour the batter out from the spout. It works great. |
