"Quality Knives" Perfect kitchen set. The German quality puts asian made knives to shame. I also recommend the matching steak knives. "great quality" It is a pleasure to use this set, I am constantly looking for food to cut so I can use the knives again. "Henckle Quality" Henckel 'double image' knives have been touted as some of the best available to the home consumer. They did not disappoint. The knives are very hard steel and stay sharp. Cutting with them is a new experience. Almost makes cooking pleasureable for me. "A good set, and a not so bad value either." As far as the premium henckels knife sets go, this one is one of the cheaper ones. They were a gift for my mother and a extreme upgrade over the old dull knives she had been beating on for years. Its hard to find a good henckels set (not those henckels international ones) for $200 or less. These knives were about $200 which compared to the top of the line sets from other brands. As a general rule, if I can find what I need from a respected brand, even if its not that brands best product, I will always choose that over something from an inferior brand, at the same price. Out of the box the high quality of the knives is evident. I was looking for sets with all the knives you could want without wasting money on steak knives. This set is perfect. If your like my mom, and are transitioning from a dull set, be careful! After a few nicks, you will stop underestimating their sharpness. Unfortunately they tell you not to put them in the dishwasher. I cant blame them for trying to protect their product but I cant say they are going to be washed by hand all the time either. "Knives" The item claimed to have blemishes on the block and knife and I have yet to find one on the block (I have not opened the knives because it's a present). So I'm happy considering the discount it had on it. Of course I'm unsure of how well the knives actually work because again it's a present.

What our customer's say! "sharp and beautiful", I had terrible knives before these, so I fell in love right away. The knives are sharp, the sharpening stick woks extremely well to hone it whenever my husband decides he "needs" to sharpen a knife. The knives are so sharp that we have both accidentally cut ourselves while doing dishes. The block for the knives is nice, but I wish I could hang it, like I have seen in some kitchens, under the cabinet. I like that the metal goes all the way through the handle, as it makes me feel like I have a good grip on the knives. I am not a big fan of the wood they used for the block, but that is just personal preference. I would have liked a darker, heavier wood, or bamboo or something like that. Again, that's just me. It's a little awkward for the little knives to fit in the block because the slots are a little too big, so they do not automatically align when you insert them. I have slight OCD issues, so it bothers me, but I just have to align it myself, so all the handles point in the same direction. It's an aesthetic thing really. But I really do love my knives and the weight of them and everything. "Knife and block review", We bought this set as a Christmas gift to ourselves, because the $10 knife set I bought from Wal-Mart years ago was never very good in the first place and we wanted to stop fighting to cut through food. These knives are fabulous. There is a large variety to choose from, and they all cut through vegetables and meat like butter. I am in love with the knives. I would have given 5 stars, but the one thing I hate about the set is the pre-fab "one size fits all" knife block. I can't stand it. I would much prefer a block where the slots are cut to the size of the blades. I would suggest if that is a pet peeve of yours as well, to go out and find a new block that you like. We are in the process of doing so ourselves. Otherwise the set is great. I have always heard great things about Henckels, and knew that they were the knife set I wanted. Upon use, I am glad to find out that they are just as great as I had heard. "Great quality", I bought these as a Christmas gift for my dad, and he loves them. They're very sharp, and though I'm no knife expert, they seem like very good quality. The only thing is that the knife block comes with slots for steak knives, so if you don't buy the steak knives in addition to the set, it looks kind of empty. But otherwise I'm very happy with the purchase. "Great set of knives", This is a great set of knives! I got this for my wife, she loves to cook and we didn't have a good knives set, so this was an awesome Christmas present for her. She loves them and she's very happy with the quality and the ease which she now cuts the stuff when she cooks. Read this reviews before You buy... "Beautiful Knifes", These knifes are really, really nice. I bought them for my mom and she loves them. They make my Chicago Cutlery knifes look like a garage sale find (although they are -- in comparision to most knives-- excellent). The only problem we have is that the block does not fit the knives! There are no slots "made" for a particular knifes. The large knifes fit well anywhere, but the smaller knifes have to much wiggle room. This is ok because we are going to mount a magnetic strip and hang the knifes from it, but still really -- for the price the block should fit them very well. This is a thing my Chicago Cutlery does much better. The knives themselves though are lovely. Very shiny and very sharp. If your a cooking fan than this is one of those things that makes you go "ah". There are more expensive knifes out there from Henckels, Wusthoff or even Calphalon. But for the price, these are really wonderful. "Quite Nice!", I am very delighted with my new knife set. It is very sharp and cuts really nicely. Far better than I expected. "henckels 11 piece knife set with block", I had priced this at dillards and thru amazon it was almost two hundred dollars cheaper. They are terrific. As a "novice" knife user I would have liked photos to the tiny manuel to show how to use and on which foods. "Good, but not great", I was always awed by the quality of the Henckels's brand knife and decided to finally take the plunge and shell out the $300 for the block and steak knives. While there is absolutely no comparison to the crappy knives I got at Target 2 years ago, I was a little dissapointed overall. The knives, while extremely sharp, actually feel a bit flimsy in the hand. I'm not suggesting one try to cut a can of beans in half with one of these, but the feel of the knives, especially the smaller, ones was a bit underwhelming. I did research after this purchase and discovered that this particular set is essentially a starter set and that there are several higher quality Henckel models whose cost is into the thousands. So I suppose for the money the knives were a decent deal but don't expect top-of-the line performance. "Excellent Product", I didn't realize how dull my old knives were until I began using my new knives. This is a great product! |
