Others say...
"All is great except..." The thermostat works great. The only beef I have with it is that the batteries fall out relatively easily. There isn't a guard that keeps them in, only a couple of 'teeth' on one and the pressure of the spring holding the other. It's a pain when you spend 10 minutes programing it, the batteries pop out and then you have to reprogram the entire thing over again. As a thermostat it works as advertised, just a design issue. "Cheaply made" The one piece that keeps this unit attached firmly to the mounting plate on the wall is a very flimsy piece of plastic. As soon as I tried to mount it for the first time, the piece snapped. Now my fancy new thermostat is accented by some fancy new duct tape. I have a hard time believing this model tested for physical quality. "Great Product" I love this thermostat, i am waiting to see the saving on my heating bill soon. I was able to program the thermostat to heat the house before my family awake in the morning and before we return home in the evening. Otherwise the temperature is decreased dramatically. I only had one problem though, I forgot to set the setting for the weekend. So my weekends were cold for a minute. But now they have been set. If you are interested in purchasing this thermostat, you will not be disappointed. "Easy to install and use" I've been using this product for 2 months now. The installation was simple and the instructions on programming and use straight-forward, although it has a lot more features than I use. The temperature sensor seems accurate. "Excellent Unit at a Low Price" I bought this unit to replace an old Hunter model that was more than ten years old. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of useful features and improvements over the earlier model. It was easy to install and program. The backlight feature is especially nice when I want to make an adjustment late at night without waking others.

Special offer for you..find the cheapest! What our customer's say! "Programmable Thermostat for Model 44360", Easy to install but took a little time to program. Overall I am pleased with my purchase. "Works Great, asy to install, saves you money.", I have used mine for over a year and noticed a big drop in my energy bills. This unit is easy to install and set. "Best Thermostat Value on the Market!", This is the most full featured thermostat on the market as far as I can tell. And the best part is it is very affordable! "Not a Replacement", Be careful if you are trying to buy a replacement. Hunter Fan Co told me that they do not have a replacement for my old thermostat. My old one has a 7-pin (wires) connection coming out of the wall & this thermostat (44360) has 6 pins. My old one works, but I wanted to buy an upgrade....no luck. I guess I'm stuck with my old one and mailing back the new one. "The thermostat will not work with a 2 stage heat pump with emergency heat.", Careful - The thermostat will not work with a 2 stage heat pump with emergency heat, which I have. There was nothing in the product description which stated that. (Ignore my star rating since I never got it hooked up. However, I had to put something in.) ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Hunter Fan 44360 Thermostat - Very Pleased!", This thermostat saved me $500 by illiminating my heat recycling problem caused by the old mercury thermostat! I'm very glad I installed it before anything else. It makes a clicking sound when stopping or starting the heat. It's reaffirming to me when hearing it that the heat is either off or on. It's a soft click so it's hardly noticable. The features are simple to understand and implement. The battery warning feature puts me at ease concerning using batteries. It also remembers the programmed schedule when changing the batteries for a whole one minute. I put in some nearly dead batteries and it still worked! So new batteries should last at least a year or two. "Great thermostat, easy install, but use is sometimes counterintuitive", Overall, I have to say this is a great thermostat. I love that you can program each day separately, and the unit looks nice on the wall when the cover is closed. The backlit display is really helpful. The whole unit was slightly bigger than I expected (it looked really big in the package when I first received it), but it's not bad once it's on the wall. As far as "installation troubles" that others have mentioned, I have no idea what they are talking about. I've never installed a thermostat before, but they made it SO easy. Maybe that person's pre-existing wires were confusing? The instructions give you lots of match-up options for old thermostats, and it matched perfectly to my old system. They even give you stickers to put on your wires so you don't mix them up. I'd say the whole installation process took me 10 minutes. One slightly odd thing--there is no battery cover. This isn't a big deal as it's usually covered by the main unit cover, but when you open it, the batteries are exposed. The unit works well, and the features they mention work just as they say they do. My biggest complaint (and the loss of a star), is some features seem too difficult / confusing to use. It's not terrible, but it could be more intuitive. For example, to change the temp on the fly, you have to hold down the up/down arrows for a few seconds. Also, if you want to exit a special program (such as "Home Today"), it can be difficult to know how to do that. Once you figure it out it is fine, but I would have been happy with a few less features and a little more intuitive operating. That aside, though, still a great thermostat for the money! "Good so far", I have had fan for about 3 weeks. I have had no problems. Easy to install and easy to use. "Honeywell has some competition", I looked at several different thermostats and had a difficult time deciding between this product and a Honeywell thermostat. I knew very little about this brand, but thought I would try it out. Honeywell thermostats tended to be pretty pricey and I was able to get this thermostat with a 7 day programming ability for quite a bit less. Installation was fairly easy. If one reads the instructions before attempting to install it, I do not foresee any difficulties. I felt the instructions were pretty easy to follow. My only complaint is that the lighting on the screen does not stay on for very long when you make adjustments or program it, but that is most likely to conserve battery power. Anyway, I would highly recommend this thermostat to anyone looking into replacing an old one. I used this for a gas furnace and do not have air contitioning in my home. "A good, full function thermostat", This unit represents a good value. It has lots of thoughtful features, such as a button to tell it that you are home for the day and want the heat to stay on, and a meter than tells you how many hours of heat you have been using. It also offers plenty of programming flexibility that you would have to pay more for with products from other manufacturers. I also use the backlit 5-2 Honeywell. The Honeywell costs more, has fewer features, and in my view, at least, is not meaningfully easier to program, and is certainly no easier to use on a daily basis. I felt the Hunter had better installation instructions. The Honeywell's biggest strength is that it is smaller. Using it, I often find myself wishing it had some of the features found on the Hunter. My biggest gripe with this Hunter model is that the backlight makes an annoying, high pitch noise. It is also a little too large for my taste. Dollar for dollar, though, versus the competition, this is money well spent. ![]() |
