"Glad I didn't spend the extra dough on the cuisinart"
I had the Cuisinart grind and brew for ages. When it came time to get a new coffee maker I thought about getting it again, but I'm glad I skipped the extra expense and got the Mr. Coffee instead. Nothing against Cuisinart - their Grind and Brew is a fantastic product. I just want something that's simple, easy to use, easy to clean and does what it's supposed to do.

I get up at O' Dark Thirty every morning while my significant other sleeps in. I program the timer the night before (very easy to do) and every morning I have tasty, hot coffee. When he gets up an hour or two later, the coffee is still hot and delicious.

The other thing I like about Mr. Coffee is that there are fewer parts to clean. It doesn't have a grinder, so that simplifies things a a lot, but with that Cuisinart I had to scrape it out once a week and fish the beans out of weird places.

Anyway, big thumbs up for the Mr. Coffee. One last note: please consider getting the re-usable filter. It's better for the environment, you know. It also makes for better-tasting coffee.

"the perfect coffee maker"
Finally a coffe maker I love.It is so easy to set and makes great coffee when you want it,how you want it and it says hot when you need it.

"Great coffee maker"
This thing works like a champ. Our Krups $120 thermal carafe maker finally gave up the ghost after many years of enjoyment so we looked for a replacement with a thermal carafe.
Did'nt know Mr. Coffee even made one.
It works great and keeps the coffee hot for a long time while not ruining the taste.
The preset timer control works great too.
It also makes a great alarm clock, as it is so noisy and takes almost 12 mins to make 8 cups of coffee, that you will give up trying to snooze and just get up and have a cup.
We can hear it from the kitchen clear across the hallway to our bedroom.
But, who cares as long as it makes good coffee!

"Messy"
This unit looks nice, and I liked the idea of a thermal carafe, but I was quickly disappointed.

1. The two holes in the back of the unit could easily leak water while filling the unit. I think they are there to keep the user from overfilling the it, but why not just design it so you can't put in twice as much (literally!) water than needed?

2. The carafe needs to be pre-heated with hot water for maximum effectiveness? Kind of kills the wake-to-brewed coffee timer... This isn't a big deal, as my wife and I typically drink the coffee within two hours of brewing, but still, it's an inconvenience. (Note to Mr Coffee- make the base of the carafe solid so it transfers heat and install the usual warming plate...)

3. The final straw was when I opened the lid to dump the coffee grounds- all the condensation on the underside of the lid ran down and dripped all over the counter behind the coffee maker. This is a REALLY poor design that could be easily remedied by having that condensate flow back into the freshwater tank with something as simple as a small plastic tab on the bottom of the lid that overlaps the back of the tank.

Things that are due to reliability and poor manufacturing quailty are bad enough, but when you start with poor design, it will never be a good product, let alone great. We are returning this unit after one use.

"great coffee maker until...."
This was, for about 18 months, a wonderful coffee maker. The thermal carafe kept the coffee plenty hot (and it WAS hot) and its price was very reasonable. However, it has lately begun leaking all over the place. The problem is steam condensing at the top of the filter compartment, condensing, and running out and down so that that is a puddle on the counter every time. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why it took so long to start doing this, as there is no seal, the swing-out filter is still locking in just fine, etc.

What our customer's say!

"If only I could rate this at less than one star.....", This is the WORST coffee maker I have ever purchased. I challenge anyone to be able to pour a cup of coffee without the darn thing dripping all over the counter. Couple that with the fact that the coffee NEVER comes out hot and then rapidly deteriorates to lukewarm. I thought the thermal carafe would keep the hot coffee hot, and keep it fresher....WRONG! There are a lot of quality Mr. Coffee products....this is just not one of them!

"carafe coffe maker", Mr. Coffee 8-Cup Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker
The coffee doesn't stay hot for very long..not worth the price..On a scale of 1 to 10. It's a 1...

"Sorry, I'm not happy with this one but...", It proves you only get what you pay for. My old Mr. Coffee, which lasted over five years, died. I wanted a thermal design at an reasonable price. This little devil makes me 3 1/2 cups which is ok as I am the only coffee drinker (usually when manufactures say "cup" they mean 6 oz. cups). However, with company this pot is not convenient. The lid is tough to twist off and on. Pouring water into the thing is messy. The water level on the side is hard to see and I have brewed coffee on my counter top too many times to count. I continue to use it as it was the least costly of any I found. Next time I'll spend more. Most coffee makers are too tall to fit under counters. The new Mr. C under counter maker would be nice if it had a thermal carafe. Would not recommend this one.

"Didn't work at all!", I got this because of the reviews on amazon and am very disappointed. It won't turn on! I turn it on and it stays on for 5 seconds then turns off. I thought that we must've been doing something wrong, but we read the book and tried it several times and nothing...It's going back TODAY! I thought it would be great because we used to have a Mr. Coffee that we loved (it went to that big coffee pot in the sky, sadly).

"Not Pleased", I have had more coffee running on the counter then in the pot. The water hits the back of the filter and push it down, and grounds get into your coffee, it also gets in the spout were the coffee flows in the pot, clogs it up and the coffee over flows to the counter. A real nuissance.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Stopped working within months", This looked good, was a well-known brand and was well-priced. I thought it was a no-brainer but it was only a matter of months before it simply stopped working. I never send in warranty info on things this cheap b/c I don't want to be added to any more mailing lists, so we were just out of luck. We should've stuck with the 20-year-old coffee maker we had. The pot was chipped and it was slow to start, but at least it got around to making a good pot of coffee.

"Worst purchase of my life.", Our percolator broke - the connection for the cord loosened up after 10 years. So we used a Safeway giftcard from Christmas to buy this model for $49. It's been a complete disaster.
1. It's advertised as an 8 cup coffee maker; it only holds 5 cups. So maybe they're using small coffee cups, not real cups, so I let that go and didn't return it right away.
2. In order to keep the coffee warm at all, the lid must be turned tightly closed; in that position it won't pour, so you have to force it back and forth every time you pour it.
3. It doesn't have any automatic shut off so if you leave the carafe out when it starts brewing, you get coffee all over your kitchen, grounds and all.
4. It doesn't keep the coffee warm. They recommend pouring hot water into the crafe before you make coffee, to warm it. You can't even heat the carafe on a stove burner.
5. Electronics are fragile, some times it starts brewing when it's not programmed to, sometimes the light blinks, which isn't explained in the manual.
I'm off to get another percolator.

"No warmer and metal pot makes coffee cold!", Having a coffee maker that you can set up the night before to brew as you get up is great. But this device relies entirely on the thermal pot to keep the coffee warm. The weight of the pot with the double metal walls and it does a great job of cooling the coffee down to just over body temp. The thermal pot should prevent coffee from scorching, so why not put a heating element there??? If you want HOT coffee, you have to run the device first with water only to warm the pot and then run it to make coffee. This thing is a disaster.

Finally, enough with the specialized lids and sneaky valves. God forbid you forget to put the screw down lid on at 6 in the morning. The drip basket stops the coffee flowing and the whole brewing mess goes back into the filling resevoir. Can't they make the anti-drip value removable?? I can wait the three minutes for my coffee to brew and I can see when the coffee is coming out of the drip basket.

"Thrilled with my Mr. Coffee maker", This is a great coffee maker. Even though I did not prep the thermos with hot water prior to making, the coffee was steaming hot - and after 24 hours was still luke warm. The way the water comes from the reservoir into the top of the coffee filter is a great design that ensures no grounds get into the coffee - sure you have to move the spiket out of the way when putting the filter basket in, but it certainly isn't an issue. The filter basket is easily marked which way it needs to be replaced - and after a few sessions of coffee making I could figure it out without having to look for the marking on the basket. The auto shut off is an important feature, and I also liked the fact that there was no hot plate to burn the coffee. I would definitely buy this again.

"Mr. Coffee Thermal makes good coffee", Bought this pot after extensive online and in-store research. My husband and I wanted an 8 cup coffeemaker so we could each have 2 cups in the morning and not waste any. We're very happy with this purchase. Price was right, shipping was free and it makes good coffee in a short time! We scald the pot before making coffee and it stays hot a good long time with no nasty burnt taste.

Easy to use and easy to clean - we'll be taking this one in our RV on a long cross-country trip next Spring. Only negative is that it seems a little big for an 8 cup but that's just me being picky. Highly recommend this one.
